Nothing prepares you for the moment you actually stand on the ledge, feet gripping the inside comfort of your shoes, knees buckling at the site of what lies below, your hands clammy, and your mind focused on the fact that this is the highest bridge in the world to bungy from, and in a moment you are about to take the biggest jump or air flop into the space below you. In my mind I rehearsed the scene of me graciously swan diving into the new year and this was the symbolic form of letting go or as close as I have ever known it and of course the reality couldn’t have been farther from what I visioned in my mind, but I did it. I fucking did it! Would I do it again, John asked me (the @faceadrenalin team member featured in photo 3), “never” I said “but I would recommend every one tries it once in their lifetime.” Thank you to the Bloukrans Bridge Bungy Rockstar Staff in no particular order : JT, for strapping me in and giving me a little push into a bravery I’ve never known; Simon, for capturing the professional photos and video of my jump, and of course, to my Spider-Man named Coffee, who came to rescue me in the air and let me hold onto his leg even when I was finally secured to him. I can’t believe his job is to literally rappel and receive the adrenaline fallen all day and I love him for it. And of course thank you to my husband @jondejager for waking me up at 7am to begin the 4 hour drive to make this day possible. If you jump, I jump.
