Gilbert “Gil” Scott-Heron (April 1, 1949 – May 27, 2011) mostly known for his spoken word poetry in the 70’s and 80’s.His most popular piece of work is the powerful spoken word poem “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised”. Scott-Heron released his last album “I’m New Here” shortly before his death. He helped lay the ground work for today’s conscious Hip Hop. I always like to mention the pleasure meeting him in 2010 after he spoke.
