Books to get rid of a reading slump ? Are you a big reader ?
Hi! It depends on what genres you like, I think! Also, if you haven't read anything in a while (also if you haven't read anything but fanfic in a while), reading something completely new can be a challenge, so you could try re-reading an old favourite, or a sequel to a series you've read before, or something by an author you already know well.
Some personal favorites for easy reading:
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles
an old children's fantasy book series that's still very enjoyable for adults. you can find them online for example on the Internet Archive, Gutenberg Project or the readerslibrary
Murder Mysteries by Agatha Christie
I love them, especially the Miss Marple and Poirot ones, but also all of her other books. They're fun, interesting to read but really easy to get into, and each book has its own storyline so you don't need to worry about which book to read first, just check which ones they've got at your local library :)
Anything by Enid Blyton
Maybe it's because it's a nostalgia thing for me to re-read them as Enid Blyton books habe been some of the first books I read myself as a kid, but I just adore them and they're such a comfort read! Especially Malory Towers, St. Clare's and the Famous Five.
Crime novels by Jacques Berndorf
(Pretty sure you need to understand German for those, I don't think they've been translated), my fav series of crime novels, they're somehow both super chill and very thrilling!
The Hobbit
It's such a sweet book, and not as complicated as the Lord of the Rings, you don't need to make plans to read LotR afterwards either, just enjoy a smoll Hobbit on his journey :)
If you have a specific genre you want recs for, feel free to ask! I also read a lot of fantasy, a bunch of sci-fi, assorted romance novels and queer fiction, and just books I came across one way or other :D
Oh, and if you're also looking for book-length fic recs, hmu! I know of many in many fandoms, also ones you can just read without knowing the fandom, basically treating them as original fiction then.
1. Clearly the protagonist in a school story, turns out it wasn't you after all. Ends each term on the brink of disaster followed by dramatic vindication. Friends with all the best tropes. Be aware that your position in posterity will be determined entirely by your minor interactions with them.
2. Class clown car. It is the fate of every class clown to enter the clown car, eventually. Who knows into what scrunched-up dimension they are extruded. At the last parp of midsummer they are all released for one fractious hour of enforced jollity beneath the moon, and then the clown car swallows them once more. Nobody knows why it came or when it will disappear. Its sinister presence at the back of the class is a warning against excessive jollity.
3. Absolute rotter. This is what happens when you let the dead attend lessons before finishing necromancy 101. Have tried casually leaving formaldehyde on his desk. He does not take the hint. Might be time for the zombie monitor to have a quiet word.
4. When you admitted her to your dorm she was a thoroughly good egg. Nobody thought to check the best before date. She is still somewhere in the dorm, and by now there are only two options: either she has become a thoroughly bad egg, or she has hatched.
5. Shy nerd, head constantly in a book. Body also constantly in a book. Known to occasionally reach arms and legs out of the book to grab food. We believe the book is hollowed out inside so as to provide a small living space. Anyway, do not get her out of the library or you are liable to get your fingers slammed. Might actually be a lost turtle.
6. Sports doer. Got more sticks than you. Some of them are jolly. But not too jolly. Otherwise the clown car eats them.
7. Dachshund in disguise, eats only homework, finely tuned scavenger instincts have led to infiltration of the place that homework grows and is harvested. Would like a scritching. Who's a good girl?
8. Living incarnation of a midnight feast. Dark, cliquey, excitable, leaves a trail of crumbs behind him. When the lights come on is in bed and snoring unconvincingly. Accepts worship but only reluctantly. Teachers have no idea.
9. You, but ten minutes ago. Well, that was careless. Here's hoping it's not recursive.
10. Haunted inkpot. Always comes top in tests. Has been taking this class since ink was invented. Writes angry letters to local newspapers under a series of false names. You have probably read one without realising.
In the West, tomboy behaviour in childhood is mostly just role-play and should be treated as such — with good-humoured tolerance. Girls want to enjoy the fun in the same way as boys do, because prior to puberty, they are not really different at all. Indeed in many cultures, pre-pubertal boys and girls are not differentiated. They play the same games and wear similar clothes.
Tomboy behaviour is…

Enid Blyton is a famous children’s writer who endeared herself to growing children with almost 600 books. She also created a series of books on a set of characters like the Famous Five and the Secret Seven. Her novels always focused on children as the main characters who solved many crimes and mysteries, much before the Police could do. Enid Blyton was born in 1897 and died in 1968 of Alzheimer’s…

A breathless session saw a quite staggering 23 cars blanketed by just eight tenths of a second with positions changing at almost every moment. Such was the competitiveness that the ballast-laden VW of Jason Plato could only manage 22nd on the grid, although the double champion has cited an as yet unknown problem with his Team BMR RCIB Insurance machine. Jason Plato, right after the race:
