What people watching TSHD need to understand is just how heavy the animation team is carrying right now.
Like they could've been like any other psychological horror/general horror anime and have like one alright scene of gore and bits of psychological thriller here and there, but they didn't.
This animation team pulled out all the stops, full throttle, no skipping manga scenes.
And especially in these last 2-3 episodes the effects truly add so much dimension to the viewing experience.
The glitching, the cutoffs, the shading, the sound effects. It is everything and it is perfection.
It truly makes you on edge and keeps you engaged, making even the tiniest of details stand out.
This anime truly has me off-kilter at some points because of the psychological thriller aspect on top of the body horror.
Plus, as someone who does care about accurate gore and body horror, this anime is probably the best I've seen it done besides Tresé, but that's just because it's 2D vs 3D animation.
And usually anime's aren't good with too many things occurring in one scene because you can only animate so much and have so many focal points.
But this animation studio nailed it by doing frequent angle changes of the same scene to fully envelop the viewer in the scene.
And I am very pleased when I say this, but some of these scenes in the anime are FAR more off-putting and scary than the manga.
