🧸 Who still has the very first gift the other ever gave them?

As an avid subscriber to the Gortash commissioned Stillmaker headcanon everything below is with the caveat “besides Stillmaker” hihi

I think, between the two of them, gifts tend to be a method of marking territory more than they are acts of giving anything? I’ve vaguely written sometime about Gortash playing dress-up (buying clothes before outings without her input, deciding everything based on himself, making power-play out of colour schemes etc etc) and I think that’s a recurring pattern on both sides – everything comes with a self-serving caveat.

My beloved friend Tulipathy once upon a time had the idea of Gortash at some point giving Bodille a vial of his blood as a grand gesture, and her… disposing of it? I believe one of the threads had her pour it in her bath, another had her drinking it. Sadly both disqualify this bit as answer to the question (and theyre too precious to my heart to redcon) BUT ALONG THAT LINE OF THINKING—

Ive been playing with the idea of Bodille rendering ink with her blood and giving it to him – either as her weird apology for the above, or as her weird congratulation on him being appointed the title of lord. It’s icky and creepy and very in-character, and I think despite everything she has a thoughtful streak, so its something useful to him! (Here i delete a very long sidetrack about Bodile and usefulness)

Like everything else with these two fucks, the implications arent stated or even explicitly thought, but to me the deliciousness is the subconscious commitment in giving him herself to sign his name with. There’s implicit agreement with all his future actions, anything he’d write she would be bound to, with or without her knowledge! It’s reckless and sweet the moment you start reading into it, and I think she’s very reckless and very sweet towards him in general.

So anyway, he keeps that!

AS FOR STEALING, I already went on a whole little rant about it this morning, but I’ll expand here!

Bodille has little use for stealing. She has no privacy at the temple, and whatever stashing places she has made for little trinkets and journals are still more risky to store in, than…. say, Enver Gortash’s room. To the point: one of the first things I knew about her, was that she would NOT store her violin in the temple, as soon as an alternative showed up. But it doesn’t count as stealing if you babysit your situationship’s musical instruments, even if they’re precious.

Enver on the other hand gets the urge to steal from her, early on and strong! It’s very what the fuck, because its not like she owns anything of value to him, and anything she owns he could buy better anyway? But it’s intrusive and doesn’t leave him alone, and maaybe it wouldve gone away if he sat down to question why he wants something of hers, hidden, with him, BUT he never does, because I decide.

Instead, I think the urge culminates at some point (leaving to the reader’s imagination since im typing this on a train, hint, hint) and he pulls out a hairpin from her hair. Just pockets it. Bodille is none the wiser.

Maybe later on he does it again, a couple of times? Somewhere in his stuff is a pile of hairpins, entirely inconspicuous. If Bodille ever sees them, she assumes she’s dropped them behind, and he hasn’t thrown them away (which is funny enough to her lol).

I think when she returns to the city and sees his face plastered all over (especially when her memories at least staaaart to come back) she finds a strange kind of power in knowing she has seen him in a different way than the official image. It’s not something she can discuss with anyone, but it feels a bit like ownership, or like having been let in on a secret: this worshipped figure is a man, a mortal, with everything that implies!

I think the hairpins serve a similar purpose to Enver. He can see Bodille posture with her demigodly nature and he can overhear bhaalists fall at her feet, and he can also hold a little pin in his pocket and know he’s privy to something they are not! hihi
