Body tutorial; #
The basic principle that I use when drawing the body is circles and ovals. This makes the body soft and flexible
1. I draw the head so that after that I can build on the proportions
2. Roughly draw a line from the head to understand in what position the person will approximately stand
3. And then I start drawing circles and ovals to understand exactly where the chest, hips, arms, legs, etc. will be located.
4. I circle it all with a pen and in this way the body itself is obtained. And then I can draw shadows on the body. That's pretty much how it goes for me
It takes a lot of practice to draw the body well and understand the anatomy. Therefore, this is only a theoretical part, and how approximately I draw. But I rarely use construction and draw intuitively right away. And just remember, it takes time and practice to achieve the desired result
how do you do the bodies? I struggle a lot with them and yours look really nice
heres a quick guide to how I do it!
I start out with a rectangle for the upper bust and a sort of underwear/swimsuit bottom shape for the pelvis (so you can more easily place the legs) you can add more of less legnth between these two shapes to create different body types.
Like for chubbier characters I make the space in between smaller and for more lanky characters I make the shapes thinner and longer.
Legs and arms are just two ovals ( for chubbier chare tees make the ovals wider and for skinner characters make the ovals longer and less wide)
This method can also be altered to draw both masculine and feminine figures with a little tweaking ( I tend to give boys a lot more in torso length and make the pelvis smaller) but I personally use it mostly for feminine figures. I hope this helps and I’m sorry for not responding sooner!
