The guitarist's protest is over 80 ft high electricity pylons planned to carry power from the Foyers reservoir scheme now under construction. The pylons will pass along Loch Ness-side near his home at Boleskine House, once owned by Alister Crowley, the self-styled "wickedest man in the world."

With posters, petitions and pamphlets, Jimmy has publicly protested against the pylons which he and his friends see as a threat to the environment of the loch.

Already pupils at Inverness High School, led by senior pupil Ian Corrance, have gained many signatures to back their fight against the Hydro Board.

After the discussion, Jimmy plans to present a resolution for approval and call on the Scottish Secretary to amend the proposals and lay the cables underground.

Jimmy was not available for comment last night, but his friend and writer, Malcolm Dent, who lives at Boleskine House, said: "We have invited representatives of both county council and the Hydro Board so that both sides will be heard.

"Thousands of people live here and it is their money that is being spent in this project. They are entitled to know the ins and outs of the thing."

[side note- the newspaper article is dated 1971, but Jimmy had a beard that entire year and didn't shave it until Feb of '72, so I think that it is misdated and that it is actually 1972, possibly 1974. Definitely not anytime past that. Thoughts?]

So Aleister Crowley’s Scottish mansion Boleskine House is up for sale. Unfortunately the house was gutted by fire in 2015 so it’s largely in ruins. But with close to 23 acres of land and with offers starting at £200,000 it’s still relatively cheap minus the fortune of restoration costs to restore the house.

Anyone feeling charitable?
