Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.
I'm rereading Lon Milo DuQuette's Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot, and so I'm going through each of the cards, one by one, after having read his sections on other subjects (from the Contents page: "Aleister Crowley and the Golden Dawn," "The Lady and the Beast," "The Art," "The Prophet and the Book of the Law," "The Aeon of Horus," "The Vision and the Voice," "Secrets of the Rose Cross Back," "Secrets of the Tree of Life," "Worlds of Color," and "The Holy Guardian Angel," all spanning, or perhaps briskly explored over, 70 odd pages) and, let me just say, that it's a joy and a troublesome effort.
I have only worked up to ATU IX, The Hermit, and so I still have the 70 remaining cards to go through. Good God, that does not make me feel good to see written so plainly. I hope that everyone else's studies are going well! 🥲 I love the tarot as a set of symbols and as a human map, as a set of shared symbology that exposes so much of ourselves. I've wanted to obtain proficiency in the cards for a while, and specifically with the Thoth Tarot and its Thelemic language of images; I find the cards hauntingly beautiful, especially with the Aces of the four suits. Those have always had such vivid colors that I will never be able to forget.
I have also started performing Liber Resh vel Helios again, and it's as wonderful as I remember; the feeling of warmth from the filling myself with the Sun's rays, as I prefer to do it outside. It's also a wonderful feeling to be so closely paying attention to the Sun's journey across the sky just as so many have done before me and just as so many more will do after, feeling that same warmth as I do now.
"The light is mine; its rays consume me: [...]"
Meditation and saying Will at meals has been something I've begun to do now, too. For now, I'm able to meditate for about 10-15 minutes with the goal of eventually reaching 30-40 minutes at a time, but that won't be for some time, I think.
I haven't been keeping well a magical record thus far (shame on me, I know), but I intend on getting a nice journal from a local shop for that. I know plenty of people use electronic note-taking, like their notes app on their phone or whatever, but I much prefer physically writing and having those notes having a pretty exterior. I'm still unsure as to what level of detail to record what I do in the magical record, but I have some ideas. For clarity, I'm trying to follow along and reap the advice from Living Thelema by David Shoemaker for this learning process. I find his writing very understandable and very inviting in a way that helps keep me going.
I think that's all I have on my mind at the moment. It's all so exciting and furiously saturated with meaning that I can't wait to keep going, though not without some deserved breaks to digest all of this information.
There is no law beyond do what thou wilt.
Love is the law, love under will.
