         fingers pause in-motion, hovering just above an object that is most definitely not theirs. their eyes snap up to fix him with a narrowed gray stare, fingers shifting towards the object’s side instead; poised to knock it over like an insolent cat. if they can’t touch it they can always do much worse.

         “—- aw, why not?” a remarkably innocent-sounding question, at full odds with that mischievous glimmer in their eyes.
