Books With heavier or lighter topics? ..... The Descendants by Destiny Hawkins was a very interesting book. It's sort of a thriller and mystery all in one. I love the characters and the dialogues. Its a dark fantasy about an academy that is not really what it seems. Normally i like reading this kind of plot so It was very easy for me to enjoy it. There wasn't anything special or different though to be honest. It felt very similar to the ones I've read before. If you love reading fantasies that involve nurseries, academies, and a lot of teens then this book is for you! ..... Cual prefieres? Is this a new theme I have now? IDK but I'm sticking with this for #PrideMonth at least! Next up I have some books with bisexual rep I'd like to share. Once again as I found myself thinking about what books have bi rep in them, I couldn't think of many off the top of my head, and I hadn't read a ton. 💗💜💙 Q: Recommend me a book with bisexual rep. I just read Technically, You Started It (bi/demi rep) and finished listening to The Brightsiders (bi, genderqueer, and nonbinary rep) last night and both are -chefs kiss- Loved them. Technically, You Started It is told completely in text messages! I found that so unique! That made it a very quick and fun read - Martin Nathaniel Munroe II texts Haley, but she isn't sure which one. Because there are two guys in her class with that name. They start a friendship over text messages and it grows from there. Martin tells Haley he is bi and by the end, Haley realizes she is demisexual and I wish it was explored more. The Brightsiders was a wild ride, it's about a band, all of whom are queer, with drummer Emmy coming out as bisexual on stage during one of their concerts. There is a lot of emotional and alcohol abuse in this story that hurt my soul, but overall I loved this story. I love concerts in real life, so any book that has a band/concerts in it is an immediate add to TBR for me. I can't believe it took me so long to listen to this, but I'm glad I did - theres even song lyrics through the book. I've had The Fever King on my Kindle & Audible since forever and have yet to read that, so I hope to read it soon! And I also still have to read Havenfall. Another book with bisexual rep that I recommend is Odd One Out by Nic Stone. I couldn't find my copy of that but it was a good one. Hi friends, today I wanted to share with you some M/M romance books for #PrideMonth! 🏳️‍🌈 I sadly don't own as many M/M book as I would to, because I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I also have a crappy memory so I recently created a shelf on Goodreads for myself for m/m books so I would be able to recommend them when somebody asks, or when someone recommends them to me. Thanks to @librofm I listened to an advanced copy of The Extraordinaries by @tjklunebooks and let me tell you. You need this on your TBR when it comes out July 14th. I just finished it last night & this book was so FUN! Nick is obsessed with the Extraordinaries, superheroes who save Nova City from danger. So much so that he writes fanfiction, shipping himself with his favorite Extraordinary, Shadow Star. Yeah, there's fanfic, and Nick and all his friends are queer and their friendships are so soft. And I want to hug each and every one of them. This is an #ownvoices book you can expect to see me shout about some more closer to release date. I also wanted to share an older title, The Wicker King, by Black author K. Ancrum. I took this out from the library back in February and with current circumstances, I still have it from the library. And guiltily haven't even read it yet. I plan to read it this month, and I'm looking forward to it. I would also recommend these books with M/M pairings: Vanilla by Billy Merrell - told in verse, this also has fantastic asexual rep in it - I will be talking more about this book later this month. Last Seen Leaving by Caleb Roehrig - a mystery thriller that I couldn't put down. I want to read more by Caleb. Docile by K.M. Szpara - this is not YA so be aware of that going into it. Its weird and really made me think. Q: Recommend me some m/m books! Hi friends, I hope you're all doing as well as you can be, keeping healthy and safe and fighting the good fight! I feel a little weird to be posting with all thats going on right now, but I wanted to share some Pride Month recommendations with you. I'm taking part in @bookishly.dreaming LGBTQIA+ challenge #BookishlyDreaming and the first theme is F/F, so I am here with some F/F recommendations. One I am very much looking forward to reading is Beyond The Ruby Veil, out October 13th. This is a dark fantasy book with a world based around blood magic and violence that includes descriptions of blood, stabbing, needles, wounds, and murder. There are content warnings on the authors website so just be aware going into that one! "Emanuela doesn't care that she and her groom are both gay, because she doesn't want a love match. She wants power, and through Ale, she'll have it all." I'm sold. Another book of these I truly loved was Girls Made of Snow and Glass - it was soft f/f romance, for lack of better words, and a Snow White retelling. I loved it very much. I will admit I'm very much an audiobook reader (listener?) so I don't own as many physical f/f books as I would like. I couldn't actually think of ANY f/f books by Black authors off the top of my head and I feel guilty about that. So todays Q: What's a F/F book you would recommend? Double brownie points if its by a Black author! I'm listening and adding to my TBR - I just made a shelf on Goodreads for LBGTQ+ and then further shelved by sexuality pairing(s) so I will have a reference easily on hand.
