What is the last piece of book mail you received?⁣ ⁣ I recently received this ARC of Dating Makes Perfect by @pintip_dunn from @entangledteen. First, this cover is gorgeous. Second, this looks like such a fun, feel-good #ownvoices read for summer! Any books on your shelves you feel bad about not reading yet?    I always have books on my shelves that I was SO excited to read ... yet they’re still unread, and I have no excuse and we don’t look at those books because then I feel guilty. 😂🙈    The #Wintersong duology is one of those for me. I have no excuse! @ae86chick always talks about how good these books are and how it’s one of her favorite stories. I am going to put it on my September TBR though! I’m excited for all the music and romance and Labyrinth-iness.    I even have this beautiful Goblin King candle from @burningbrightcandleco! Marissa creates the best candles. Do you think you'd make a good vampire?    For me, it definitely depends upon the kind of vampire we're talking about, I don't want to sparkle in the sun but I also don't want to be stuck with only going out at night. Maybe something like The Vampire Diaries (with a daylight amulet) or the Atlantians from the Blood and Ash series.    Speaking of vampires! Hi friends, I hope you're all doing as well as you can be, keeping healthy and safe and fighting the good fight! I feel a little weird to be posting with all thats going on right now, but I wanted to share some Pride Month recommendations with you. I'm taking part in @bookishly.dreaming LGBTQIA+ challenge #BookishlyDreaming and the first theme is F/F, so I am here with some F/F recommendations. One I am very much looking forward to reading is Beyond The Ruby Veil, out October 13th. This is a dark fantasy book with a world based around blood magic and violence that includes descriptions of blood, stabbing, needles, wounds, and murder. There are content warnings on the authors website so just be aware going into that one! "Emanuela doesn't care that she and her groom are both gay, because she doesn't want a love match. She wants power, and through Ale, she'll have it all." I'm sold. Another book of these I truly loved was Girls Made of Snow and Glass - it was soft f/f romance, for lack of better words, and a Snow White retelling. I loved it very much. I will admit I'm very much an audiobook reader (listener?) so I don't own as many physical f/f books as I would like. I couldn't actually think of ANY f/f books by Black authors off the top of my head and I feel guilty about that. So todays Q: What's a F/F book you would recommend? Double brownie points if its by a Black author! I'm listening and adding to my TBR - I just made a shelf on Goodreads for LBGTQ+ and then further shelved by sexuality pairing(s) so I will have a reference easily on hand. Time for my May #wrapup - how many books did you read this month? I managed 9! Vicious (ebook) 5🌟 Six of Crows 5🌟 One of us is Lying 3🌟 Shatter Me 4🌟 Aurora Burning 5🌟 Bone Criers Moon 5🌟 Crooked Kingdom 4🌟 Unravel Me 4🌟 Ignite Me 5🌟 I’ve put together my tbr for June as well and I’m attempting quite a few books next month. I’m ending the month on a bit of a high, a lot less stress which feels amazing so im hoping my mind won’t wonder and I’ll be able to get plenty of reading done. 💜 Six of Crows was my favourite read of the month. It started slow but when it introduced all the characters properly and the story got going it was brilliantly brutal with plenty of actions and gasp moments. Kaz is a brilliant character, morally grey and his reasoning behind his actions is both gruesome and sad. I enjoyed Crooked Kingdom but found it a lot slower than SoC. 💜 #bookstagrammademedoit and read the Shatter Me books, they’re really fast reads but I struggled with the first two and couldn’t connect as well to Juliette as I did in book 3 which was my fave of the three I read. I have the next three on my kindle so I can’t wait to see how the story progresses. I haven’t got the novellas but I might get them in the future. 💜 One of us is Lying is my least enjoyed read and lowest rated book.
