People will never experience enemeies to lovers in real life the way it’s written in fiction, but people who have experienced the angst and emotional turmoil of a real life friends to lovers situation, can’t help but to fall in love over and over again with their memories once they see it in a book, film, or fanfiction.

Laurent telling Damen that he reminds him of Auguste is important. We don't know much about Auguste but maybe what made Laurent fall in love with Damen was that he started to see that Damen was a lot like his brother.

My heart breaks for Damen because;

* His father, who he adored, was killed by his bastard of a brother * His bastard of a brother, again, betrayed him for the throne and Damen trusted him just too much that he didnt even believe it at first * His mother died giving birth to him, he never had a chance to see her * He was humiliated so bad in Vere, by his enemies * The flogging...? UNTIL HE ALMOST DIED AND THEY LEFT PERMANENT MARKS ON HIS BACK * He had hard time admitting to himself that he fell for Laurent * He was so hurt when his identity was revealed and Laurent stood away from him and HE WAS SO UNHAPPY * He was hurt again because he regretted killing Auguste cause he couldnt stand Laurent's sadness * He tried to save his brother until the last moment, even if his bastard of a brother wanted to kill him so bad * He was so affectionate towards anything and anyone and he definetely deserved to be caressed back in his days in Vere as a slave and instead all he got was fists and beatings 💔

I was just listening to CP Audiobook and the man pronounces Laurent like LAU-RON I guess I've been pronouncing it wrong the whole time! ._.
