Old friends from way back, Andy and Dale recently got together to muse about how life sometimes works in mysterious ways. “I've had an absolute blast fronting Boom Crash Opera for the last 3 years. I really want to thank the band & the fans for being so welcoming & for making the whole experience seem very familiar. Many people ask me how I can cross over from different styles & genres but for me it's easy, it will always be about good songs & musicianship & that's what Boom Crash Opera is all about. I'll always feel a part of the BCO family & so happy for Dale to be back home. I've always been an artist who likes to spread his wings but there's only so much one can do. The time has come to focus on other areas of my career,” Andrew said. Initially based around the songwriting partnership of Richard Pleasance (guitar/bass/vocals 1985 – 1992) and Peter Farnan (guitar/bass/keys/vocals) Boom Crash Opera also includes Dale Ryder (lead vocals), Peter ‘Maz’ Maslen (drums/vocals), Greg O’Connor (keyboards/guitar) and Ian Tilley (bass/vocals 1992–present). They released seven albums and an EP in the thirteen years of their recording career, and continue to play occasional shows. Following on from the success of their debut in 1989 they released the top 10 single “Onion Skin” from what would become Boom Crash Opera‘s most successful album These Here Are Crazy Times (produced by Pete Smith and Richard Pleasance, mixed by Nick Launay).
