Before I start, I will tell you the canon facts about the Magnus Hammer:

It’s alien forged and makes use of advanced weather-altering technology.

Nearly 7 billion years ago the Magnus Hammer was used to forge the container for the Allspark and as such became a symbol of leadership for the Transformers race.

I’ve expanded upon canon a little more to give it a more in-depth story. Without further ado, a synopsis of the birth of Stormbringer:

When the Transformers race was still young, only around 3 billion years, a war-like alien race tracked the Allspark’s signal to Cybertron. Like so many individuals would afterwards, they saw in it the chance for limitless power and tried to take it for themselves. The still-young species fought hard but slowly began to fall at the feet of the invaders. As the situation became more desperate, a brilliant, young Transformer warrior by the designation of Stormbringer and his companion, Magnus, snuck across enemy lines and stole one of the invader’s spaceships.

He was reluctant to leave Cybertron but he knew the situation was hopeless. Since the danger had come from the stars, he hoped he could find their salvation there too. Even though he wouldn’t admit it at the time, Magnus later recalled upon returning to Cybertron that they were both afraid too, which also played into their decision to flee. The pair sought refuge in space, and anything to help aide Cybertron in her plight. They started by tracing the trail of the invaders backwards, passing many ravaged planets along the way.

When they were just about to give up hope, they landed on another ravaged planet and found a few survivors among the ruins. When the survivors heard of the plight of Cybertron, they offered to help, but not without great cost. To pay back the invaders for destroying their home they agreed to forge Magnus and Stormbringer a powerful weapon, so strong it would seem to come from the gods. However, such power could not come without sacrifice. Much to Magnus’s consternation, shamed by his fear and subsequent flight, Stormbringer agreed to pay the price the survivors demanded.

The weapon was forged, imbued with Stormbringer’s spark, creating a powerful and sentient weapon. However, as a consequence Stormbringer’s body died and his mind was forever trapped inside the Hammer. Aggrieved at his loss, but suddenly hopeful, Magnus returned to Cybertron with his prize. Seeing Magnus strike down their enemies using the power of the very elements themselves, the Cybertronian troops rallied and managed to push the invaders out.

Many things were lost in the final battle. Magnus himself mysteriously disappeared, and countless others died. However, while searching through the aftermath, a young warrior found the abandoned Magnus Hammer lying under the corpse of the invading army’s commander. In one final act, the leader of Cybertron used the Magnus Hammer to forge the Allspark a container that would hide the signal to avoid any future invasions.

From that point on the legendary weapon was passed down from generation to generation, his wielders adopting the name of the warrior who brought hope back to Cybertron. And Stormbringer watches and waits over his homeworld, paying his debt to his kind.

As such, the Magnus Hammer is sentient. It’s a similar idea to the G1 Matrix. During times of extreme turmoil on Cybertron, the spark within will awaken from dormancy and try to influence the course of events back in the right direction.

With the reawakening of the Decepticons, Cybertron has entered a new and dangerous phase in it’s history. As such, Stormbringer is awake. Anyone coming to seek his advice will be answered. Transformers can hear the Stormbringer in their minds… That is when they chose to listen and he chooses to talk.

In the end, however, Stormbringer is still a weapon. A tool. He has no direct influence on events. He will advise and fully back those he supports by allowing them access to the full range of his powers, but it’s ultimately their servos that have to strike the blows.

1. Opening himself up to someone to trust them

2. HAVING THAT TRUST BROKEN INTO ITTY BITTY BITS

3. Developing nonfriendly relations with people in general.

4. Talking about personal problems instead of molotov cocktailing them into combat and getting his aft kicked

5. Resolving the inner turmoil on the ship (Which will be catered to in a plot update soon. Resolved though? Who knows)

6. Getting both bridges/transwarp drive fixed to allow easier face-to-face multiversal interaction.

7. A rescue/capture thing would be really cool at some point since he can react in very extreme mannerisms depending on what his role is in that scenario. I’d like to explore that.

8. In depth conversations with other people that challenge his views in general

9. FREEING CYBERTRON FROM THE TYRANNICAL GRASP OF THE AUTOBOTS

10. ALL HAIL LORD MEGATRON
