Bordered plant bug friend! These little guys pierce the plant and suck out the juices. They're cool with ornamental plants but are kind of a pest to fruit crops. If you want to get rid of them removal by hand or vacuum is best.
@monkeydactyl submitted: sorry if the pic looks a little blurry. i live in the austin texas area and don’t remember ever seeing a bug like this before. any idea what this little guy might be?
It's...a friend! And also a bordered plant bug in the genus Targus. Like other plant bugs, they use their mouth tube to suck the juices out of plants :)
@tatteredtessellation submitted: I see these little dudes all over the place here, any idea what they are? (AZ)
Yep! A bordered plant bug in the genus Largus. Don’t ask me which species, though, they look too similar for me to tell apart based on these photos. :)
I hope this isnt too many! I'm not sure about the first spider but the second is an eratigena (probably Eratigena Duellica), the beetle is a firefly and the last pic is a bordered plant bug
Sad fact: in oregon our fireflies dont glow :(
No it’s not too many, especially since you did the IDing work for me :) I don’t recognize the first lil man either! A mystery friend. I agree with the rest though. And I’m sorry your fireflies don’t glow that’s so sad :( The glowy ones are much more common on the eastern half of the country.
#2921 - Largus sp. - Bordered Plant Bug
I believe L. cinctus.
There are fifteen genera and about one hundred species in the Largidae, usually found on the ground or among foliage, feeding on plant juices and seeds.
