Okay so I was thinking about public smut with link (botw) since he's always traveling he would probably get in the mood and just do things in the middle of an empty field on a mountainside or even just by the river
To be honest, you should have learned by now that it could happen just about any time or anywhere, really.
You’ve been traveling with him for long enough to remember all his other little habits. You know how he prefers to hunt around dusk and all his favorite fishing spots. You know which way he prefers to pitch the tent or make the shelter in case the two of you need to make a quick escape. You know how often he likes to sharpen his tools, and often he’ll drag you into the nearest town for a pitstop and quick refuel of supplies. You know which foods he prefers you to cook for him because he thinks your recipes are better, and which side of the bed he likes best. Hell, you even know when he’s about to run off on some side quest and leave you somewhere just by the subtle twitch of his ears.
Because you know him. You know his habits. You know what he does. You know what he likes. You know him. So while it took you by surprise, it wasn’t surprising, per se. You know this side of him, too. You just forgot for a moment.
But a moment was all that it took for him to slip in right behind you, completely undetected, and place his hands on your hips as if that was where they had always belonged.
“Link!” You gasp his name breathlessly as you quickly try to steady yourself before you end up eating a face full of dirt after nearly jumping in surprise. “A little warning next time!”
He caught you while you were foraging for mushrooms. The part of Milda Woods that you two were in seemed to be full of the normal ones- just ripe for roasting and easy snacking. But you stepped away from helping him start the fire because you swore you had seen some truffles not too far away from where the two of you were making camp. So naturally, you went over to where you thought they were and got on your hands and knees to go searching. And searching. And searching. And searching. And searching. Until suddenly, you were too busy to do any more searching.
Because the sound of the kneeling man behind you undoing the buckle of his trousers was far too distracting to pay attention to absolutely anything else.
“Sorry,” Your travel companion murmured from behind you, not really sounding all that sorry, as he gave your hip a quick squeeze. Looking over your shoulder at him, you were able to find that his expression told you the exact same thing. That he wasn’t sorry- not in the slightest. His eyebrows were furrowed, his lips were set in a straight line, and his cheeks were flushed a deep red as one of his hands kept fiddling with his pants. “Couldn’t help myself…want you to look forward though.”
“Look forward?” The question falls from your lips dumbly, almost as if you’ve never traveled a day with him before. But luckily for him, he doesn’t need to explain. Or rather, he chooses not to explain and instead lets out a low whistle, just to grab your attention. It surprises just enough for a moment that you don’t even see which hand he uses to push the side of your face back to facing forward- just like he initially asked of you. But as the shock of the action wears off, you find yourself feeling a little annoyed by his brashness. It’s not uncommon. He is a man of few words after all. But in your mind, it wouldn’t kill him to use a few of those words to actually speak to you properly, right? In fact, you have half a mind to turn right back around and to put a stop to what he was doing and to tell him off for always being so rough with you. In fact, you should! And you will.
At least, you wanted to. And for a moment, you really did think about it. But within that moment, he had already pulled down your own trousers, lifted your tunic up, and had pulled your panties to the side.
Just to lick at your slit from behind.
“F-fuck…” Is the only thing you can whimper as you feel Link’s tongue flatten against your pussy once- twice…three times back to back. Instinctively, you tense up as your back arches at the sensation. It causes you to fall forward a little, and you now have to brace yourself on your elbows instead of your hands as he starts paying a little too much attention to your clit for you to form a proper sentence.
But even that is over far faster than you would have imagined. Because all too quickly, the tongue you were feeling lap at your insides is replaced by the thick, blunt head of Link’s cock as he lines it up with your entrance. You can do little more but gasp quietly as you feel him drag his cock up and down your wetness, gathering what arousal he can before he starts to push his way past the lower lips of your pussy.
“Shit…” He groans deep and low from behind you as he makes his way inside, inch by inch. Though you can barely hear him over how much you’re whining yourself as you’re slowly stuffed full of his cock. You’re not the wettest you could have been. You know that. He knows that. You both know that. But what little licking and sucking he did do is what is currently allowing him to sink his dick inside of your tight little hole with nothing but whimpers and gasps from your end until he finally, finally bottoms out six excruciating inches later. “You alright?”
At his question, you do your best to huff in what you hope is obvious displeasure. Though from the sounds of his low, pleased-sounding chuckles and the way he affectionately strokes your now bare hips while adjusting his grip, you have a feeling the sound you made came off as more pathetic than angry. And that made you angrier- just a little. But of course, he didn’t exactly leave you any time to be angry at him. Because the second he could feel you wiggling your hips and adjusting yourself to better accommodate his own throbbing length within you, he was pulling back his hips and snapping them forward. And doing it again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And-
“O-oh my…oh my goddesses…Link- Link, fuck!” You squeal in time with the blonde’s continuous thrusts as he fucks you doggy style in the middle of the woods. “F-fuck, fuck, fuck…”
He only offers you a low, possessive-sounding grunt in return as his grip on your hips tightens just enough to offer him an easier time thrusting inside of you. But that only serves to make things impossibly worse for you as he manages to hit that spot inside you that has you seeing your stars damn near perfectly each and every time.
“You’re gonna get me in trouble…” He huffs out moments (minutes?) later, despite not bothering to do anything about the now cruel pace of his strokes. His words barely process in your mind. Though for a moment, you are able to piece enough thoughts together to remember the fact that you’re not in the most remote part of the woods. Where he found you- rather, where he now has you bent over, writhing, and drooling into the dirt, leaves, and grass- doesn’t offer that much cover. Sure, there are a couple of trees within arm's reach. And some of the bushes in the immediate vicinity are thick enough to ease some of your fears of being seen in such a compromising position should someone be around.
But if you keep looking forward like Link wanted you to and squint, you could see the path that eventually leads to Hateno village. You could see how easy it is for the two of you to reach civilization. Or rather, how easy it would be for civilization to reach you.
And suddenly, you’re hyperaware of just how wantonly you’re moaning. And how deep his strokes are. And how loud and messy your pussy gets each time he pulls back and pushes his length back in. And how desperately he undressed and mounted you. Just because he saw you bent down and distracted a few paces away. Just because he saw you from behind. Just because he needed this. Needed you.
A few seconds later, Link lets out another groan.
One that’s immediately followed by a nasty string of curses between his labored breaths- and it’s something you’re not used to hearing due to his inclination to stay silent, even during sex. Those you suppose even he can’t help but fall victim to pleasure. Especially since you’ve been starting to tighten up more and more over time now that the growing knot within your lower belly is getting increasingly harder to ignore.
So you’re into what he does to you. So you like the fact that at any moment- at any time, the Hylian Champion could get so needy that even bending down in front of him is a risky move. So you like the fact that he doesn’t seem to care about the timing or place or the fact that the two of you are supposed to be preparing a shelter before nightfall right now. So you like the grabbing, the roughness, the quickness, the riskiness- the animalistic nature of it all. So you like it all. So what?
This particular moment may have come as a surprise, it isn’t really that surprising.
You’ve been traveling with him long enough to know all his little habits and quirks. And maybe you forgot about this one particular habit of his this one time. Or maybe you didn’t. Whose to say? And whose to blame you, either way?
He does take good care of you whenever you two are traveling. And the Hero of the Wild does deserve a little reward for all the good he does. For you. For the people you encounter. Hell, for the whole world too. And you?
Well, let’s just say you’re his happy little companion. Who’s more than willing to be accommodating. To help him with the needs he can’t fulfill himself. And of course, to go along with the ride. Any ride.
Omg!! Do you know how long i’ve been waiting for a chance to request Link x reader stuff hehdjdjdueugd can I request Link x fem! Reader where its before a relationship and so its head cannons of Link with a crush/pinning?
Botw - Link { Silent Crush }
◇ How did it even start? He wasn't even sure himself before it was too late, the first time when seeing how your hair shined under the moonlight and sweet smile along with a soft feminine nature yet being capable to fight if needed right by his side. Allowing his admiration to only further bloom.
◇ Link was the silent type who wouldn't out right ever annouce his feelings, but showing with helping you around with smaller tasks and a smile. The care showing but never outright said.
◇ In every room you both were in, his eyes wound find you, watching you with content and admiration. From you simply doing some small mindless tasks to full on quest.
◇ It would be a lie to say he didn't blush after every physical contact which he always tried to stay for even if just a moment longer, tips of his elf ears softening to a light pink and a jumping heart.
◇ Giving you small and quiet compliments would feel more intimate then most others, his voice was gentle like the wind and warm like a breeze in the summer. He's never seen you as weaker, an equal and if someone ever questioned it his brows would frown with a nasty glare making them silent.
◇ Sidon would help Link even figure it out, making some silly banter while watching his friend watching you with love in his baby blue eyes, getting a brotherly smack on the shoulder from the shark himself.
◇ Would make extra food for you to make sure you'd be eating enough and getting the rest you needed, often taking the first night watch and at times he'd simply watch you. Not in a creepy way but rather more in a 'How could I get this lucky, to even find someone like her?'
◇ Keeping you out of harm ways was his one and only priority, if he knew you'd get hurt simply because he wasn't able to save you it would haunt for longer then ever admitted. Often pushing you behind him with one hand and another already pulling out the sword with a stern expression.
◇ The first time seeing you dressed up with a flowey dress which suited your frame like a glove making him notice how much more he liked you, watching you in every state and now? Dressed up. He was more speechless then usually.
◇ It took months for the confidence to built up enough for him to confess with a small handful of flowers, and shock that you felt the same as he had never noticed how your eyes soften at him everytime as well.
°~°
A/n: Gurl where have you been?? Ive been waiting months for loz requests 🫶🏼 (P.s: I would also be open to do Sidon if anyone is interested)
it’s hard to find a husband as the butcher’s daughter.
the girls at your school smelled of flowers and goat soap. lithe, not muscled in their forearms for slicing and draining the blood from butchered cows. neither have they seen a chicken run without their head, a pig hung from the ceiling, the cries of a gentle hateno cow when its life is taken for its meat. their eyes are so trusting, even when light fades from their souls' windows.
you were young when you began shadowing your father.
"i got this broom custom-made for you, little one," papa said. "it's your special broom for helping me clean."
you know the witch charges a high price for those brooms. a mop of similar height leans on the wall next to it, likely made by your father.
"will i be cleaning the cow blood?" you asked.
the smile on your father's face flattened. "yes, darling. the chickens, too. now, come."
it started by just watching, the mop gripped tightly in your hands. chickens ran until they dropped. you dodged, their claws still sharp even in death as there was no time for their bodies to decay. your father's swing was strong.
"so they may have a quick ending," papa had said.
you nodded.
"i'm sorry, my darling," your father stoops to your height. "but i have to start you early, or it'll be too hard when you're older."
it was still hard. you no longer smelled of lavender and goat milk. the metallic tang of blood stuck to your skin. the girls were nice, but you saw how they snuck glances at you, hands cupped to their curved red lips. every night, you scrubbed and scrubbed, but blood stuck to you, in smell and between the lines of your skin and under your nails.
it got harder when you got older.
the girls in your village were getting married off. squeals of handmade rings, silver shoved into your face with declarations of it being custom-made by that famous blacksmith. you don't know him? well, you would soon. one of the girls had even handed you a bar of soap.
"it's so deep-cleaning, made by mother." the bar of soap suddenly weighed like a brick. "free trial. she said you should give it a try."
some of their bellies began to swell. the idea of pregnancy made you queasy, tales of morning sickness and swollen feet and tearing during birth were too scary, but there was an empty spot just beneath your sternum. an ache. sometimes, your hand twitched.
you wondered why, until you were looking out the window, and it twitched as a couple walked by. then it twitched again when you saw an older couple, then a newly-wedded wife and husband, then again at a couple bickering by the fruitstand. your hand needed to be held, but there was nothing warm to hold other than the freshly butchered body of a mother pig.
the shop's bell shocks you.
“you are the backbone to people’s survival.”
you drop the cut of hateno cow into its wrapping. it slaps when it make its landing, blood pooling where it sits. "but the king still insists he is watchful of my father. we're the first to be blamed if there's a breakout."
he won't leave you alone, this annoying boy.
"that's true." he rubs his neck awkwardly. good. the more awkward you make him feel, the quicker he'll leave. "oh, could i also get a flank of hateno beef?"
you look up from the wrapping. the boy always had a bow and sword strapped to his back.
"can't you hunt this all yourself?"
the boy shrugs sheepishly, a shy smile stretching his lips. "it's easier to buy sometimes. all that clean up and preparation."
"sometimes," he begins with a upward swing of his voice, "i'm just really hungry and need food now."
you almost smile. it's easier to breathe.
"who are you again?" you reach through the counter, grasping the hateno beef.
"just a bard, my lady."
"really? you're not very good with words."
"no, probably clumsy," he admits with a laugh, "but i'm good with the flute! and ocarina."
you frown. the royal family made the ocarina famous. "that is an important instrument."
"aye." he smiles. then, his eyes switch. the silly boy almost looks calculated. "would you like to hear it?"
something sweeps over you. something grey. something with a heavy grip that holds your free will hostage. your hand twitches. "i'm at work."
"then another time." his voice is gentle. bards are supposed to be emotionally in-tune; feel his crowd, match his story with their feelings. are you just a crowd to him?
"what is your name, bard?" you slide his meats towards him.
he stands a little taller, but he's not so tall. "link, my lady."
link x f!reader! link, reader, and zelda have to deal with gossip | smut, 18+, domestic fluff, established relationship, shenanigans, reader has a backstory, slight angst, minor violence, ao3 | wc: 8.4k. The house ❤️
In your periphery, Zelda took a moment to glance up at her paperwork—you were directing Link on where best to place his Lynel cobbler on the wall—and she giggled, a hand at her mouth.
“Look at the two of you!” Zelda said. “Thick as thieves.”
You chuckled, a hand to your lips to conceal your blushing. “I’ve learned he’s useless when it comes to weapon placement.”
Link gave an adorable little grumble in response to the teasing, straightening the cobbler before it toppled over.
“You say that as though you’d be pro!” Zelda cried.
“I’m just saying,” You said as Link caught the cobbler again. “You’d think he’d be better at this.”
You turned to a smiling Zelda. “I agree,” she said, gaze on the wall. “… You know, it’s beginning to become a bit … crowded.”
You picked up what Zelda was putting down.
The entire house was crowded. At first it had been Link’s, merely a place for him to hang his head whenever he visited Hateno and needed a respite from hero duties. But then the two of you had begun seeing one another; Link had refused to let you live all on your lonesome, and insisted the two of you live together. Not long after that Zelda had moved in. Now, the house was a strange hodgepodge of weapons and Sheikah tech and books and notes and cooking supplies.
Obviously, the simple abode hadn’t been built with three people in mind.
You hadn’t really noticed; the three of you shared practically everything now, and the clutter didn’t bother you, but if you allowed yourself to adopt a stranger’s eye for one second, it was obvious something would have to change.
“We could always … clean up …” The idea was dead in the water; some spring cleaning, along with a decisive declutter, wouldn’t hurt, but the three of you (especially sticky-fingered Link) would always collect more stuff. There just wasn’t enough room anymore.
Zelda wilted. “Perhaps it’s time for me to consider living elsewhere.” She stared forlornly at her leather journal, sprawled out on her ink-stained pine desk. “I already feel as though I’m intruding on the two of you.”
“No!” You said immediately, placing a hand on Zelda’s shoulder. “No way. Don’t think like that. It’s not like you’re some sort of burden on us or anything.”
“She’s right.” Link, who had at last achieved peak balance for the cobbler, faced the two of you.
“But surely things can’t go on like this,” Zelda said, gesturing to the study, meant to symbolize the entire house, you were sure.
Link shook his head. “Things are fine as they are.”
“You only say that because I always have food for you,” You countered, hand akimbo. “A night without steak would open your eyes to the truth.”
That earned you a stubborn second head shake.
“We should consider alternatives. Besides … That’s not the only problem the three of us have as of late.” Zelda’s cheeks ran pink and her eyes darted here and there. “People—are beginning to talk …”
Your brows raised. “What’s that mean?”
“Well—” Zelda clutched her pen. “It’s been made clear to me that—I mean, some believe—”
“That you’re a sex deviant?”
You weren’t sure who was redder between the two of them.
“You mean …” Link couldn’t bear to finish.
So you finished for him. “People think we’re a couple? The three of us?”
“Unfortunately, yes,” she said, sighing. “Those … do seem to be the caliber of rumors we’re dealing with.”
“They must’ve been saying stuff like this about us for months,” You said.
“Don’t be silly, this is only what I’ve heard as of late.”
As if Zelda didn’t have her ear to the wall and finger on the pulse of everything going on in Hyrule. If anybody was saying anything about the three of you sharing quarters, she would know. As princess, she couldn’t have rumors like that flying around about her.
You and Link would have to put a stop to them somehow. Whatever sharp, vespine stab of jealousy that should have, by all means, come over you at Link and Zelda’s dynamic had failed to materialize. You loved her like a sister.
“You should stay here,” Link said, his face a normal color again. “Close to Hyrule Castle.”
“And …” A light seemed to flash in your mind as though the Lord of the Mountain had suddenly pranced past the pond of your mind. “And we could go.”
No one spoke for a minute.
“You mean …” Zelda leaned over the back of her chair, intrigued. “The two of you find a new place to live?”
“And you can stay here!” You said. “I like the idea and I just came up with it.”
“Interesting …” Zelda said. “It could work!” She turned to Link. “And what do you think? It sounds like a brilliant idea—unless the two of you would prefer the reverse?”
“No,” You said. “Link’s right; you should stay close to the castle, just in case something goes wrong.”
“Then …” Zelda sat back in her chair, looking unsure. “Where will you move to?”
You looked at Link—who in turn looked at you. Neither of you spoke; apparently, neither of you had an answer.
---
“How do you feel about it, Link?”
Link ticked his head your way from where he stood at the dresser. It was the cusp of midnight, and you were already tucked in bed. It had been hours since your talk with Zelda, where, after a lack of consensus, she had preoccupied herself with an unread file about some surprisingly pristine Guardian parts and left the two of you to your own devices.
The lamp on your nightstand, adorned with tiny great fairies (a gift by one of the older women in Hateno town) bathed Link in a tangerine glow.
“Things are so peaceful now.” You propped yourself up on a pillow, facing Link. “If you’re worried about Zelda’s safety, I don’t think you need to be anymore. And we can fast travel if anything goes wrong. But I think, with Ganondorf’s defeat …” You paused. “Things are finally better in Hyrule.”
He joined you in bed, dressed in only his trousers. “Do you want to leave?”
“Not necessarily,” You said. “I like Hateno town! But … I’ve been keeping something from you.”
Link eyed you curiously as you reached under the bed and brought forth an old gift box. You opened it to reveal a collection of letters.
“Rhondson’s been pestering me about buying a place,” You said. “Remember last time we visited Tarrey Town? I let it drop that we were living together and I think she saw an opportunity.” You gestured to the conspicuous letter pile. “She’s been writing to me for weeks now. I never really took the bait since we all seemed so happy here, but now …”
Link took two twin letters to examine.
“I’m sorry I kept these from you,” You murmured as he read. “I should’ve said something, but I wasn’t even really entertaining anything until now.”
But Link didn’t seem too peeved. If anything he seemed intrigued by this sudden revelation.
“Hateno is your home,” You stated. “If this is too extreme, maybe we can just think about getting a house nearby …”
But you saw Link’s face brighten in real time. “I think it’s a great idea!”
Your face broke out in a cautious smile. “Really?”
Link nodded. “I’ve been keeping something from you, too.” He placed the twin parchment pieces into his lap. “It’s been … getting harder to live here.”
You raised your brows. “Really.”
Pursing his lips, Link averted your gaze. Talking had never been your lover’s strong suit anyway, but you could tell he was struggling with something he found particularly tricky to say.
“Hateno is different now.” Link’s head hung low, his hands laying atop the letters. “The townspeople … expect so much from me.”
You understood. The amount of pressure Link was (always) under, you knew, had to be immeasurable. And they had the nerve to gossip about him—about the three of you, but especially him, after all he had done? A sudden disdain for the people in this town had you clenching your jaw.
“I hear what they say,” Link went on. “About us. I know they don’t mean anything by it. But I want to protect you and Zelda as well.”
“Oh, Link …” You fetched the letters in his lap, along with the box of them, and placed them back under the bed. You scooted toward him and enveloped him in your arms, sinking the two of you into bed.
You purred when he mirrored your actions, his arms, strengthened from years of wielding both swords and bows, roped around you. Link’s head nestled in the crook of your neck. With a hand unoccupied with Link, you threw the duvet over both of your heads, leaving you in a fort of warm honeyed darkness.
“A new start would be nice,” Link said. “… But I don’t want to disappoint anyone.”
“You won’t.” You drew gentle circles into the small of his back, your leg wrapping around one of his. “We’ll just have Zelda come up with something—the two of us have to go away for some reason, anything, so it won’t be on you.” You pulled away so your face was level with his against the pillows and gave him a smile. “I want to protect you, too.”
Pink rose into Link’s cheeks again.
“Just imagine it, Link,” You murmured, tracing a finger across his cheek and sensing the warmth underneath your finger pad. “A place all of our own … I kinda want to thank Zelda now.”
Link stared curiously, expecting you to elaborate.
“For being such a filthy pack rat we have no choice but to move.”
You snickered, and—you were sure, against his better nature— he quietly chuckled to himself as well.
“Our own little home,” You murmured.
Link intertwined your hand with his.
“… Where we’ll be alone,” he said.
You parted your lips—only attracting Link’s attention, and he leaned forward to capture you in a kiss.
A soft sound of surprise from you, again something Link only took advantage of to invite his curious, needy tongue into your mouth. Thankfully, your arms were already around him; it took little effort to pull him in closer. His hands roamed your body, the noticeable dips made by your curves where your nightie sank. Link’s thumb caught at the skin of your nipple, growing more excited with the graze of skin.
“Mm … Link, oh …” Link had left your lips to trail a series of wet kisses down your neck, one of his hands caressing your thigh. “We have to be quiet …”
Because the goddess only knew how little you wanted Zelda to overhear—or any of the townspeople, lest their mendacious rumors multiply.
Link paused his nibbling of your earlobe to quip, “Only be a problem for one of us …”
What’s gotten into him? You almost wanted to show him who was boss—and remind him who normally started whimpering like crazy once lips were wrapped around his cock—but instead you resisted a laugh.
Link’s hand, once curious about your thigh, had since ascended past the hem of your nightdress to your naked sex, where now his fingers sought to play with your clit.
“Link ...”
Too late; Link already had you on your back, topping you with a hand in between your legs. He gently swiped at your clit while rocking his erection into your upper thigh. You whined and brushed kisses against Link’s naked collarbone.
“You’re just gonna make a mess,” You reasoned. But it didn’t stop you from palming his cock, where you felt him only grow harder under your play, nor from spreading your legs to give his hand better access to your folds.
Link ignored you, reaching down to kiss your lips before returning to the meal he had been making of your neck. He rocked into your hand at a faster pace now, all the while carefully swiping and tapping at your clit expertly, years of practice having taught him all the best—and quickest—ways of making you cum.
“Once we have a place all our own,” Link said, something suspiciously teasing about his tone, “we won’t have to be quiet anymore …”
Your head hit the back of the pillow with an exhale. Your toes curled; between Link’s fingers, now slick with your excitement from playing with your defenseless clit, his clothed cock in your palm, and his lips dancing across your sensitive neck, you were closer than you cared to admit. And since when had he learned to tease you—with words, no less?
“I thought you were worried about a mess?” Link said, punctuated with more considerate swipe at your entrance. “And yet …”
You were rocking into him now, your hips bucking in desperate need of his fingers. Heavy breaths in his ear, with one hand on his back and another on Link’s jumping cock, your mind was going blank.
“Link!” With a few circles against your clit you were cumming, a pronounced whine right at Link’s ear as you gripped him hard, felt his trousers grow wet and sodden with what could only be his own release. Still, you arched your back, vaguely surprised by the strength of your climax with such little play.
And as you were enraptured with your own release and Link muttered soft, clipped praises in your ear, you realized in some part of your brain not flooded by animal need that you had no idea what living in Tarrey Town would be like.
---
You would find out a week or so later.
Link had surprised you with a plot of land he had secured with a view overlooking Tarrey Town itself.
“It’s beautiful, Link,” was all you could say, breathlessly, as a breeze got caught in your hair.
You couldn’t quite intellectualize why you were so enraptured; you had seen and traveled to Tarrey Town with him many times, yet this was different. The two of you would be so … away from it all. A fact you thought you would find isolating and perhaps even sad, but instead found only relieving. If you stood outside, cradled by the breeze, you could believe it was only you and Link in the world and no one else.
“Mhm!” Granteson nodded enthusiastically, disrupting that ‘just you and Link’ illusion. “And if you have any second thoughts about the area, just let me know! We can go ahead and move you to wherever you want!”
“I wouldn’t worry about that,” Link said. Then, to you: “Let’s get started.”
Once Link knew you were satisfied, he immediately got to work with Ultrahand. The two of you had (mostly) agreed on the layout of your new home; a foyer, a study beside the bedroom. Adjacent from the bedroom there would be a kitchen, and adjacent to that would be a blessing room. You wanted flower pots on the roof. The only disagreements came from where Link would retire his weapons, which—
“The spears can’t go in the kitchen, Link—”
“It’ll be okay! We can use them to cut stubborn pieces of meat, and—”
“Okay? Okay? You want to be cooking porridge and accidentally poke your eyes out?”
Link eyed the tip of the nearest spear, leaned against the wall nearest the front door. “That won’t happen …”
But Link seemed unsure enough that he eventually relented and constructed a storage room for any scavenged weapons.
After a few days, Zelda came to check up on the two of you.
“Oh, look how much you’ve done already!” she had clapped her hands together, head tilted back to admire the full scope of the house. “It looks wonderful, you two!”
She, of course, especially loved the study, regardless of how small it was.
“I’ll be sure to lend you a few of my copies,” Zelda said while investigating the new shelves. “It just won’t do with them being as empty as they are.”
Link had been preoccupied with hauling an extra room before releasing it from Ultrahand. He seemed unsure of where to connect it and what to. “How are things in Hateno?” he asked, slightly out of breath.
“Things are going well, actually,” Zelda muttered, admiring the wood of your new home.
Her words, shaking at the hem of her voice, did not go unnoticed by you. “Is there still talk? People know we’re gone, right?”
Zelda cleared her throat. “Mm, yes. Yes, they know.”
You threw Link a suspicious look. He came over, having abandoned the new, box-shaped room, and closed the book Zelda was distracting herself with.
“Spill it, Zel,” You said, hand akimbo.
“Oh, I don’t want to repeat it!” Zelda cried. “It—People can be so horrible.”
“We can handle it,” Link said.
“It’s not that, it’s …” Zelda sighed, shoulders dropping. “Well, it’s just … the other day, I left the house to run a few errands—and I … overheard some women who seemed … shocked you and Link were the ones moving, not …”
You raised your brows. “Not?”
“Not … Not Link and I.”
You curled your lips into you mouth, but couldn’t prevent from laughing.
“It’s not funny!”
“First we’re a throuple, and now Link has a favorite?” Again, you tried to stop laughing—only to wheeze—
Link reached over and pinched your side.
“Ah!” You giggled. “What?”
“This is serious.”
“This is beneath you,” You countered. “The both of you,” You added, throwing a look at Zelda. “I can’t believe you thought I’d be hurt by something like this.”
“It’s just this kind of talk is just so corrosive to the harmony of the kingdom …” Zelda sounded genuinely dispirited.
“Maybe to the kingdom,” You said, taking Link’s hand, “but not to us. Seriously, Zelda we’ll be fine.”
She was quiet, but after a beat she smiled. “All right, then!”
After Zelda had left, Link got to work on dinner. He seemed agitated, but when you pressed and offered to help, he both insisted he cook and refused to give you an answer.
Better than the alternative. Link working with the ingredients you already had in the newfound kitchen was objectively better than what could happen; all you could think about was the time Link had brought home a whole bear at your doorstep. Zelda had nearly had a heart attack before she realized it was dead.
While the smell of his cooking wafted around, you took notes both by candlelight and the remnants of sunlight.
“You’re really not bothered?” Link said, adding a seasoning whose name escaped you into the pot. “Even a little?”
“Hm?” You looked up from your notes. “By what?”
“By what Zelda told us.”
“No,” You said without thought. “If anything, I’m sorry Zelda has to put up with this.” You resisted a snort readying itself at the back of your throat. “And that you do as well.”
Link brought dinner over. Prime meat stew. There was something reverent in the way he knelt before you, offering your plate first. Serving you first.
“What’s wrong?”
A few seconds passed before Link granted you a reply, “I don’t like you having to put up with this, either.”
“Link …”
Link reached over the table to take hold of your hand, holding it snug in his own. “You’re precious to me.”
“I know,” You murmured.
He then gestured at your plate. “Tell me if you like it.”
You began to eat, hungry. Link, himself, seemed hungry as he watched you, but didn’t touch his plate.
“It’s so good,” You hummed, eyes closing, satisfied by … the entire state of things. The new home, the warm saucy taste of the stew, the warmth of Link’s presence beside you.
When you opened your eyes, Link still hadn’t picked his spoon, oddly preoccupied with you.
You gestured to his plate. “You should eat something—I haven’t seen you eat all day.” You blinked, realizing what you had just said. “Should I be concerned?”
Link shook his head gently. “I don’t want it.”
“Really?” You frowned. “Then … What do you want to eat?”
Your candles illuminated Link’s face, and the vibrant, summer blue of his eyes. He didn’t answer, only leaned toward you—“You”—and kissed you. Surely he could taste the lingering seasonings still layered your tongue. You responded in kind, caressing his face as he pressed his body weight against you. You closed your eyes into the kiss and, robbed of sight, could only rely on Link’s adventurous lips and your sense of hearing; plates tinked at your side, then—
A surprised whimper escaped you as Link laid you atop the table. You looked up at Link from where he slotted himself between your legs. Again he showed you reverence; his hands softly grazed the path of your legs, his mechanical hand even gentler in its ascent. Goosebumps rose on your flesh at the ghostly touches. With a pleased hum, you tugged on Link’s tunic, both to bring him down to your level and to propel him to be less inhibited. He was so gentlemanly it puzzled you, always unsure if he had permission to touch you even after having so, so many times.
Receptive to your touch, Link knelt down and captured your lips—hungrier this time, thank Hylia. You wrapped legs around him, desperate for more. But it proved counterproductive; Link’s fingers bent over the start of your pants, coupled with your panties, and could only bring them down to your knees.
With great effort, Link broke away, a string of saliva bridging your lips to his. He kissed a train down your neck, collarbone, all the while sliding your bottoms down when you stretched your legs out to accommodate him.
You heard the flop of your bottoms hitting the floor just as Link pressed a kiss in the valley of your breasts. “Link …”
But his kisses were growing hungrier as he went lower, making you clench at the idea of what his lips would do once they met your cunt. Whining, you threaded fingers through Link’s untied hair, long since having abandoned his tie since coming home.
More kisses down your sternum left tiny dots of saliva to cool on your skin. As his bodyweight left, you split your legs to give him full access to his target.
You heard Link sigh, content and besotted. Then you felt his fingers pull your lips apart for a greater view and access to your cunt.
“So beautiful …”
Just as promised, he dove tongue first into your hole before licking up to your clit.
“You’re already a little wet …” Link moaned, hot breath brushing against your clit before he took it in his mouth.
You arched your back as Link’s hands gripped on to your thighs, pulling you forward into his eager mouth. “What’s—ah—gotten into you?” You asked, breath stuck in your throat when he kissed your clit, lips brushing against the sensitive nub. “All of a sudden—”
“Do you want to talk?” Link asked between licks, mockery lilting his voice.
Smartass—you thought but didn’t say as Link continued his work on you. As always, Link started slow, tentative, as though afraid he would grow too excited and nip you. He laid his tongue flat against your cunt, collecting more of your wetness on the pink little muscle before treating your clit as the epicenter of his attention once again.
“Link …” You reached forward to comb fingers through Link’s hair, inadvertently pushing his head farther into your cunt.
And Link was sure to collect what was there on his tongue—his enthusiastic tongue, swiping and savoring the taste of your cunt
You wouldn’t last long pressed against his learned mouth and you knew it. You cracked an eye open, roused by the sudden rustling at your right, and saw Link’s arm jerking frantically.
“You better cum inside me,” You murmured. “I don’t—mm—want you to waste a single bit of it…”
A rough groan from Link, who was busying his tongue on you while fisting his hungry cock. Naturally, the Link you knew was good at everything—that included multitasking; his mouth and other hand worked in tandem to serve your cunt. Two fingers fucked themselves inside of you while his tongue worked broad circles around your clit.
“Fuck.” Those fingers continued to tap and stroke at your spongy insides while the wild suction of Link’s mouth left your legs trembling. “Fuck, Link—Link!”
You clenched down on his fingers—now three instead of two—and threw your head back as Link’s tongue lapped desperately at your clit in what could only be his need to satiate the hunger he had for you.
“Ah!” You twitched in such a violent way Link moved to reorient you onto the table, so lost you were in your orgasm.
He kept pumping his fingers inside you, sure to help you ride out what was left of your high. In your rogue haze, you realized you couldn’t hear the rustling his hand had caused.
As you reached peak sensitivity, Link at last moved away. You blinked eyes open to see him still kneeling over you, raised a little higher; his red cock stood high and twitching.
You met Link’s eye and saw a pointed desperation there. He was waiting for you to come to so he could finish the job.
You licked your lips, chest raising and falling with harsh breaths.
“Give me another,” You demanded.
Link was on his feet, tugging his trousers down as he crawled on top of you. Still, he pecked you on the lips, clearly wanting to demonstrate tenderness despite it all. You clung to him, cunt throbbing to know you were making him this frenzied.
“I might—” Link struggled at your ear. “I don’t know if—”
“I don’t care,” You said, hugging him to you. “I just want you.”
Link nodded, shoulders relaxing as he adjusted above you. His cock sank easily into your sopping cunt, reigniting your heightened sensitivity from your last orgasm.
“Link …”
Your hands went to his back, clinging to him as he took his first thrust. Already, his hips stuttered, his pace clumsy due to incessant need. You couldn’t care less, simply happy to be in this position, with your man on top of you, his cock nestled tight and snug and eager in your cunt. The first time the two of you would have sex in your new home.
You’d be emotional if you weren’t already on the brink of another orgasm.
Link’s pace was improving as he remembered himself. His hips slapped into you with each thrust, skin on skin. The table underneath you jostled with Link’s force. Your heels dug into his lower back as one of Link’s hands raised above your head to grab the table’s edge.
“Link—Link—Fuck—!”
But he seemed to have forgotten himself again. You loved this, loved when he forgot his own strength, when he lost himself in you.
With a series of familiar shudders and shaky breaths, Link came to his end, jerking you with a final thrust. You were already clenching around him for the second time tonight, trembling underneath Link as he tried a few more weak thrusts to ride out his high and yours. You captured his lips, and he sighed into the kiss as he fucked his cum into you.
Link slumped, laying on top of you as lethargy blanketed him. Your breath mingled with his in the too-warm quiet of the night. Despite it all, you still felt strangely spent. Or maybe you were content. The table’s sharp edges were beginning to pierce uncomfortably into your back, and the position Link’s wanton need had situated in was not the most comfortable in general, yet you didn’t want to be anywhere else.
You didn’t remember much else; it seemed as though you blinked and you were in bed, beside Link who was dozing off himself, tracing an idle finger against your arm.
Candles burning out. Link’s ghostly touch. Then nothing.
---
When you woke the next morning, it was in Link’s arms, his face nestled in your neck and strands of hair tickling your upper arm. You smiled knowingly and ever-so-gently maneuvered out of his embrace, eyes roving over the disheveled sheets and messy table and candles long gone out.
You weaseled out of bed and welcomed the ache between your legs, ready to feed the horses outside.
You quickly threw on clothes and creaked the front door open, beelining for the stable—before you noticed something beside your home sign, forcing you to do a double-take …
FUCK.
The word lay sprayed over the sign, over your name and Link’s.
You stared, gob smacked. In the distance, your hungry horses neighed, aware that either you or Link were close by.
You blinked, motionless otherwise, before uttering the only word that came to mind:
“…Fuck.”
---
“So,” Zelda began with a disappointed pout, “it appears the issues lies in the fact that the two of you aren’t married.”
You, Link, Zelda, Rhondson and Hudson were gathered around the house. Link, deprived of something to fight, resigned to slowly pacing the floor, brows knitted in a deep frown.
“We’re so sorry about this,” Hudson said. “This is not representative of Tarrey Town’s values!” He nodded affirmatively towards you. “I promise, we’ll get to the bottom of who did this.”
“Still,” Zelda said, her pretty green eyes hooded with concern. “Who would think to do something like this?”
“I’m a little confused,” Rhondson said. “What were they trying to convey exactly?”
Zelda rolled her eyes. “It’s an old … acronym of sorts.” She put her next words in air quotes, “’Fornication under consent of the king.’ Hence… that word. It’s just childish, really.”
“Wouldn’t it be queen, though?” Hudson said.
“I don’t think whoever did this had the brains to figure that out,” Zelda said.
“This is just ridiculous,” You said, throwing hands up. “It’s not like we even bother anybody! Why can’t people get a life and leave us alone.”
“My thinking exactly,” Zelda said—and her tone had a pointed, protective edge to it. Goddess above, you loved this girl. “This is certainly not how I wanted to start my venture as the Queen of Hyrule.”
There was a short pause, then:
“Do you think …” Rhondson began.
“Hmm?” Hudson said. “What is it, dear?”
Rhondson let out the kind of sexy sigh her people were known for. “Do you think the harassment were to stop should the two of you get married?”
You and Link exchanged looks. The severe expression the circumstance had led Link to wear softened as he stared at you.
“Of course we’ve thought about it,” You murmured. “And it’ll happen …”
And it almost had; Link had proposed and you’d been the one to decline shortly before Ganondorf had risen his slimy, over-sized head, before Zelda had been stolen away by the Time Stone. You’d had a bad feeling beforehand, and you’d been right.
“But it won’t happen like this,” You said, and everyone in the room seemed taken aback by the bite in your tone. “We’re not getting married to stop people from bullying us. We’ll make this stop.”
Hudson laughed. “That’s the spirit.”
“I’ll go into town,” Zelda said.
“No, Your Majesty,” Rhondson said. “I’ll keep an ear out for any gossip—nothing normally gets passed me. If I hear anything, I’ll be sure to let (Y/n) and Link know.”
Zelda seemed deflated. “There must be something I can do.”
You came over to her and put your hand on her shoulder. “You’ve got enough on your plate ruling an entire kingdom. You can’t worry yourself over petty happenstances like these.” You looked over your shoulder to Link. “This is our fight; we’ll handle this.”
That was the end of it for now. Once everyone left, you plucked the sign out of the ground and hurled it over the cliff.
Link was in a foul mood for the rest of the day and took to ignoring you, abandoning the house to traipse around the nearby woods. You were annoyed, but left him to it; it was probably a good idea for him to blow off some steam killing Moblins, Wizzrobes, and fucking Octoroks. At the thought, your jaw clenched up.
Maybe I should join him …
Instead you mulled over solutions to your little slander problem, taking brief interludes to catch up on editions of the Lucky Clover Gazette (thankfully, the rumors about the three of you hadn’t made it to Traysi …. Yet).
At sundown, Link returned, and you confronted him.
“Just talk to me,” You pressed.
Cornered, Link dropped a bow he was holding—that looked suspiciously Lynel in design—at the front door.
“I don’t like that I can’t protect you from this,” he said dejectedly.
“I don’t need protecting, my love,” You said, leaning away from the small table in the foyer. “You know that more than anyone else.”
Link cringed, most likely because he knew he had stepped in it.
But you weren’t mad—at least not anymore; you knew this was hard for him. Link the warrior always solved his problems (and the problems of others) through direct confrontation with the thing causing issues. But there was no monster to fight, no dungeon to solve, just a frustrating happenstance with the potential to ruin your reputation, along with his and Zelda’s. And make it harder for you to look shopkeepers in the eye. They don’t construct Master Swords for petty chin wagging.
Perhaps they should. “What I need is for us to be a team and work this out together,” You said.
Link nodded. He stepped toward you and wrapped a protective arm over your waist. “I’m sorry.”
You pecked him on the cheek, caressed it. “We’ve both had much bigger problems than this—at least this one won’t turn into a dragon by the end of it.”
A tick at Link’s lips, but he wouldn’t let himself laugh.
He knows I’m funny. You let it go and continued: “Anyway, I’ve had some ideas while you were gone.”
“Something’s not right to me, Link,” You said. “So … somebody climbed all the way up here to put a lurid sign outside our house and that’s it?” You propped your chin up with your knuckle. “Then I started thinking. And, well … who do we know that likes to fuck with us on an almost quotidian basis?”
You wiggled your brows at Link, whose expression lightened with clarity.
“Ahhh.” He perked. “In that case, I have an idea.”
You smiled, detecting the mischievous glint that had come to Link’s eye. “Well, I’m all ears.”
---
“Mmm—”
“Ngh—(Y/n), you—ah—can’t—!”
“You just look so good in this—”
“Ah-hah—We—we have to focus!”
True. The question was how exactly were you supposed to keep hands to yourself when Link looked like that in his Sheikah garb?
You were dressed similarly, but that wasn’t the point.
It was Link’s idea for you to break out the Sheikah gear for extreme silence as you neared the stable. You didn’t want to be caught by the suspects of your theory, but you didn’t want typical stable goers to detect you either.
“East Akkala Stable isn’t far,” Link said before playfully swatting your hand away.
“Fine,” You acquiesced with a stubborn, playful huff, following Link down his descent down the hill. The road ribboned in the darkness as dusk fell. Sunset fireflies danced in the air of the coming night before skittering away, frightened by your approach.
The outside of the stable was deserted. Goats baahed and a dog kneaded you for attention, nibbling on your pants leg before you batted it away.
You knelt beside Link, who’d arrived first by the window of the Stable, and remained silent.
And waited.
You walked into the stable a few minutes later, stumbling as though tipsy, and followed by Link, wearing a smirk too devilish for his face. Excess blush made your cheeks an unnatural, blotchy red.
You held the back of your hand on your forehead dramatically. “Oh, Link!” You flew into Link’s arms. Heads turned in response to your theatrics. “My sexy, hunk of a knight! I’m getting excited just looking at you!”
Link brazenly cupped one of your breasts. “I feel the same about you! This is the perfect place to make love, isn’t it?”
“Oh, yes!” Rhapsodic, you leaped into Link’s arms, where he caught you by your under-thighs. “The only thing that could make this better is if we got Queen Zelda involved!”
Confused, scandalized murmurs followed at the mention of Zelda and her title.
“We have to remind her we’re available, we both know how she can never get enough …!”
“I can’t fucking believe this!” You—the real you—hissed in Link’s ear. “So this is what they’ve been doing! This whole time, they’ve been spreading lies about us and pretending to be us!”
Link grunted, displeased.
The other Link, on the other hand, seemed more than pleased. “Yes!” He gripped your shoulders, and you dipped your head while in his arms. “Right here, right now, in front of everyone inside this stable!”
Murmurs of shock. A group of women ushered themselves out immediately. Some of the men looked excited, watching to see what would happen next.
“He—Hey!” The stable manager cried. You remembered this one: his name was Rudi. “This is a clean establishment! The two of you can’t just come in here with that kind of talk!”
You turned your head to glare at Rudi, your chest in Link’s face. “Stay out of this if you wanna keep your head, ingrate.”
“Yeah,” Link said. “Listen to my little bitch—”
An arrow surged past Link’s face by a mere inch and stabbed the curved stable wall behind him. A surge of outcries now as people leaped from their barstools, their beds, alarmed.
You snapped your head to the side to see the real Link—your Link—bearing a bow, looking angrier than you had ever seen him.
“Link,” You said. When had he gotten it out?
But Link’s attention was on the two impostors—specifically the false him, who had since dropped you and stood trembling, staring wide-eyed at the arrow.
In a flash, Link replaced his bow for his sword, leaped through the window and lunged toward his false twin—
Only for the false you to thwart him, your blade kissing his.
“Not so fast, hero,” You taunted him. “Just what do you think you’re doing?”
“Everyone,” Link said. “Get out! It’s not safe!”
Nobody needed to be told twice; folks scrambled to leave the stable, even the poor owner.
The false Link transformed: it was a Yiga foot soldier in his uniform, face obscured by a mask.
“He finally reveals himself!” said the foot soldier. “Heh! This’ll be fun—”
“Think so?”
The foot soldier turned his head. “Huh—?”
He gave a strangled yelp as your knee smashed into his mask, shattering one side of it and knocking him to the floor.
“Because I was thinking the same thing,” You said, retrieving your Eightfold Blade. “But I doubt this’ll be that fun for you.”
“You think can stop us?” The false you said, balancing the strength of Link’s blade with her own. “Your reputation’s already ruined!”
You didn’t respond, instead surveying her with a smirk. “What a cheap imitation,” You said. “I thought the Yiga were supposed to be experts at this.”
“Wha—? You little—”
Link pushed, and the confident gleam in your false twin’s eye petered out—the second of distraction you had given her was enough for Link to immediately gain the upper hand, shoving and meeting her in actual combat, blade on blade.
The false Link came for you, but there was nothing he could do that your brief rendezvous with the Yiga hadn’t taught you already.
The foot soldier momentarily transformed back into his Link facade, forcing you to pause in your charge.
“Heh, how soft,” he mocked you. “You’d never attack your precious little—”
You almost broke your knuckles on his face.
“Like I said,” You said, “Cheap imitation.”
He recovered quickly, what with a stumble, and you met him enthusiastically in battle. Somewhat adequate, but he obviously had not defeated as many monsters as you had. He couldn’t keep up with you, and soon you had swept his long blade out of his grip with your own and flung it toward Link, who was making quick work of your double.
You didn’t like their chances before Link leaped through the window, but by the end even you felt a little sorry for them. The Yiga foot soldier who’d engaged with you hung over the side of the bar, nose bloodied and blinking drunkenly through his cracked mask.
“You … won’t get away with this,” he huffed out. “All glory to Master Kohga—”
“Don’t bother praising him”—With a cartwheel kick, you silenced him with a foot to the face. He swung over and fell gracelessly to the floor—“until he trains you better.”
You looked over at Link. At some point the false you had transformed into her true Yiga self and she, too, lay unconscious on the floor.
You rejoined him as he sheathed his sword.
“Well, at least we got to the bottom of all this …” You said, hand on your hip. “We really should’ve known.”
Link jerked his head toward the front door.
“Oh!” You perked up. How could you have forgotten? “You can come back in now!”
The two of you brought back those who were willing. A few travelers gathered around the Yiga members as though they were museum attractions, fascinated by both their uniforms and poor states.
“I’m so sorry about all of this,” You told Rudi. “I hope you can see this was all just a big misunderstanding.”
“Oh, forget it!” Rudi said, sounding relieved. “I’m just happy it turned out to not be the two of you!” he patted Link on the back.
“We can fix these tables,” You offered.
“Like I said: forget it! Thanks you for putting a stop to them. I thought for sure they would scare all my customers away.” He cleared his throat, a pink tint to his cheeks. “Any way I can repay you?”
“We want to fix what we broke,” Link insisted.
Rudi sighed, shaking his head. “Man, those two were really out of their depths disguising themselves as you both.” When he saw neither of you would budge, he sighed. “Fine, fine! But you still haven’t answered my question.”
Link seemed to consider this. “Maybe another membership point?” he asked.
“You got it!”
A few moments later, the foot soldiers were tied to poles, groaning in turn from injuries sustained. Overhead, the lamps swayed; their bruises came in and out of view.
“Yiga members disguised themselves as us to mar our reputations,” You told Link. “Traysi and Penn will love this.”
Link smiled—a gesture that relieved you after the wrath that had been on his face moments earlier—and nodded.
“We’ve gotta let Zelda know, as well,” You went on.
“You two do what you have to,” Rudi said, cracking his knuckles. “We’ll take care of the Yiga folks for you …”
A few stable goers encroached …
“Gah!” The once false Link regained consciousness. He shook his head, ridding himself of his lethargy. “This—This isn’t over!” He made a sign, grabbed his companion’s arm through the constriction of ropes, and poofed away. The ropes sagged to the floor as stable goers gawked.
You sighed. “We should’ve seen that coming.” You watched as Link started collecting the rope, looping it over his forearm. “At least they got totally humiliated before getting away?” You added to find a silver lining.
Frowning, Link nodded. “You’re right.”
With the show clearly over, stable goers began to resume their activities, reclaiming their beds before they could be taken by rival guests.
“And maybe—Oh, Hylia!”
With the rope gone, a leftover became visible. You knelt down to collect it.
“Of course they left a banana,” You said, holding up the fruit.
“… Can I have it?” Link asked.
Of course he wanted it. Remembering Link had forgone lunch, you offered it to him, happy to finally see his mood improve as he peeled it and took a well-earned bite.

JUST THIS IN! A new scoop from your pals at the Lucky Clover Gazette!
Readers, you won’t believe this one: we’ve received word from one of our closest confidants that members of the notorious Yiga clan have been using their impressive skills with disguise to impersonate the likes of (Y/n), the hero of legend, Link, and our very own newly-instated queen of Hyrule, Zelda!
It doesn’t take a genius to deduce their motivations; the Yiga have despised the Hyrule royals and their associates for quite some time. It would be in line with their long-time agenda for the people of this realm to lose faith in our heroes and question their legitimacy with the use of impersonation and hearsay! But their dastardly plot has been put to rest.
We’re here to spread the word, as always, and we encourage our readers to keep their wits about them. Do not believe everything you hear, or see—even if it’s taking place before your own eyes! If you see our delightful trio engaging in unspeakable acts in public, it is most likely a ploy.
Stay vigilant, and stay tuned for our next edition, only here at the Lucky Clover Gazette!
“Absolutely outstanding,” Zelda said, lowering the newspaper by her buttered apples. “So this whole time, it was the Yiga clan spreading rumors and pretending to be us!”
“Yep.” You came to sit by Zelda. “Traysi was salivating at the idea of dropping this story, but she still sent me an unedited version of this month’s edition just in case we wouldn’t be okay with it.”
“She asked if I wanted to work with Penn again,” Link added.
“Those Yiga and their tricks …!” Zelda frowned at the steam rising from her cup. “Curse them! But thank Hylia it’s all over and done with!” She faced Link. “But why does she want you and Penn to reunite?”
“To handle the other Yiga members,” Link replied, “and help spread the story.” He looked at you. “I told her I’d have to ask you first.”
“That would be an excellent idea!” Zelda said. “We all know how relentless the Yiga are; it may take a few more pointed attempts to flush them out.”
You came over to Link, settling in his lap and wrapping arms around his neck. He raised his brows at you, but you only kissed him on the cheek.
“I think it’s a great idea, too.” You twirled a piece of Link’s hair around your finger, admiring his pink cheeks. “But I think I’d prefer it if we took some time to enjoy our new home first.”
Link nodded, looking determined despite your petting. “We’re not finished with it.”
“And now the two of you can work on the rest of it in peace!” Zelda said. “Oh, this is marvelous—and of course, I’ll do my part to make sure this revelation reaches every corner of Hyrule. It can be one of my first decrees as queen!”
You exchanged looks with Link. Is that good enough for now? You knew Link—he knew his desire to play house with you was currently rubbing up against a need to dish out some punishment toward the Yiga for their filthy tricks. You knew his desire to protect those closest to him, whether it be their body or honor on the line, would outweigh whatever his id told him to do. Even if it meant he would never slow down. He would never rest.
“Okay,” Link said.
You blinked, surprised.
“It’s settled, then!” Zelda offered you one of her apple slices. “Let’s eat to celebrate the end of all this nonsense!”
You took a slice, wanting nothing more than to press Link on why he agreed so readily to you, only to think better of it.
The reality was you would see very little of Zelda for the next few months; with the stress of the scandal having subsided, that left only her new queen duties to attend to. That left one day the three of you could enjoy one another as friends—like before, when you all shared a house in Hateno.
Those days were gone, and it made you sad, but also strangely hopeful.
Things were always ending, so new things could begin.
Zelda bid the two of you a heartfelt goodbye after a day spent together. Once she was gone, you turned and leaned your back up against the front wall. Just like that, it was you and Link again—Link, smiling at you.
“So,” You murmured, crossing your arms, “no Yiga hunting? I wasn’t expecting you to give in so soon, it’s not like you.”
Link was quiet for a beat, expression considerate. “This whole ordeal has taught me a few things.”
“Oh?”
“There’s more than one way to tend to someone.” Link came to you, caressed your hand in his. “I want to address the Yiga and make them pay for what they’ve done.”
“But …?” You asked as Link placed a gingerly kiss to your knuckles.
“I want to cater to you, too.”
And it occurred to you just how true this was for you also. The wild was many things: freeing, adventurous, wondrous. It was beautiful. But so was building a home for someone. With someone. To create a place they might lay their head down when weary, when the world left them cold and exhausted, when it ravaged.
If you could create such a space for Link, you could die happy.
“I want to take care of you, too, hero,” You said, tracing a finger over the ghost of Link’s kiss. “You just hardly ever let me.”
Link’s head turned to follow you as you stepped away from the door. “Tomorrow, I want to start on the upstairs.”
You nodded in agreement, all the while leading him to bed. “In the mean time, do you think you could get a fire going for me?” You felt a chill coming on. It didn’t get very cold in Tarrey, nor near it, but you had a feeling tonight would be different. “I read in the Gazette that there’s a cold front coming in, so it’ll be chilly tonight.”
Link waited until you got into bed, all before pressing a reverent kiss to your forehead.
Hi!! May I request a Wild/Tears x reader oneshot? This one has some backstory to it!
Two years ago, I read a fic where Wild and the reader secretly got married before the calamity, since they were scared of losing eachother. Instead of using their rings on the finger, they put it in a necklace and kept it hidden beneath their normal clothing.
With Zelda living with Link in TOTK, how long would they manage to hide their relationship from Zelda? I'd love to see how you would manage this out!
Thanks!
I am SO sorry this took so long! But here it is and I hope you enjoy! (Also the ending is a tiny bit rushed but I just really wanted to get this out!)
Away from Royal Eyes
(BoTW Link x reader)
Notes: I made it so they aren't married but they are obviously together <3
It had been well over a week since you had last seen him, wrapped up in his arms as tears fell onto his blue Champion tunic. Kissing him goodbye before watching from the village steps as he walked away towards what could only be a new beginning or tragic end. Days of mindlessly going about your day, trying to not think about the horrid things that he could be facing at any given moment. But you had faith in him to keep his promise, that he would come back to you after it had all been put to rest.
So you waited patiently, keeping an ever watchful eye on the path leading up to the village as you went about your life.
And one day, he finally came.
You had raced to the front of your village from your home the moment you had clocked the familiar shade of blue. Tears filling your eyes the moment he fully broke through the tree line.
He was alive! It unfortunately looked like you couldn’t say he was unharmed, but he was alive and more importantly he was here!
But then you noticed his horse and the girl sat upon its back.
Link was home
But so was she.
_____________
“Thank you! Come again!”
As the last customers of your midday rush leave, you release the pent up air in your lungs, stretching out the ache in your back from standing in the same spot for the past few hours. The shop, and Hateno village in general, had been busier as of late which was great for business but not so much for your feet. But, it paid the bills and there had yet to be any disgruntled customers today so it was a win in your book.
The small bell over the door rang and you slapped on your most welcoming smile. “Welcome! Take a- Oh! Good morning you two!”
You watched as Zelda strolled cheerfully into the shop, waving hello before beelining it towards some of your more rare merchandise. Link lingered by the door, looking over the closest basket with a slightly bored expression until his eyes flicked over to you. You smiled softly, averting your gaze when you felt heat rush to your cheeks, missing the way he smiled back.
Attempting to make yourself look busy you grabbed one of the small baskets nearby, offering it to Zelda who already had a small handful of things cradled in her arms. “What brings you two in today?”
She carefully placed the items in the bag, turning back to the newly acquired tomatoes you had gotten in just a day ago. “Just needed a few things for the room we’re building. I told you about it the other day, remember?”
“The one in the well?”
Zelda nodded, tossing in a few building supplies into the bag along with some other seemingly random ingredients. “That's the one! We’ve officially carved out all the necessary space and now we just need to build the deck! Plus, Link has been talking about this new recipe he's been wanting to try so we figured today was a good day to test it out! You don't happen to have any spicy peppers do you?”
“I should still have a few in the back. Let me go and look!
You walked away, brushing Link's shoulder with a whispered ‘excuse me’ as you passed. His eyes trailing after you as you disappeared into the small storage room behind the counter.
Once completely out of sight, you had to take a moment to breathe, leaning your back against the wall as you tried to calm down. You would never get used to the rush that came every time you saw him. The longing looks, short touches in passing, and whispered words all adding to the thrill of secrecy that was your relationship with the hero.
Still, no amount of thrill could keep the longing at bay. Wishing you could stroll up to him at any moment to simply place your hand in his. Be the one by his side to run mundane errands or enjoy a meal together. To go back to the way things used to be before everyone began putting all this pressure on him to resume his role as Zelda’s personal knight.
It wasn't that Link opposed the idea outright. He wanted to help, and to be there for Zelda as they tried to regain what had been lost all those years ago. To reshape the kingdom into something that would thrive for centuries to come. It was admirable work and after all that he went through it made sense that he wanted to continue to protect what he fought so hard for.
But he wasn't the stoic knight he had to be back then. He was adventurous, and playful. Had found his voice that for so long he thought was lost. It didn't feel right to go back to the way things used to be. Not entirely, not when he loved the way things were now. Coming and going as he pleased, actually having a say in things that mattered and most importantly to him, staying by your side.
But Impa had been…insistent.
She would go on for hours about how it was Link’s duty to stay by Zelda's side no matter what. And it didn't help when Robbie and Purah began to push the issue as well, though they were more open to changes in said role than Impa was. Each time, he explained exactly why he was so hesitant. And one time he finally admitted that it wasn't about them, or Hyrule, or even Zelda. He just didn't want to leave you.
He didn't speak for nearly 3 days after that argument. And thus the two of you took what you could and kept it all a secret. To keep the peace and Links sanity, leaving Impa to believe things had ended while no one else knew things had ever started to begin with.
You sighed, pushing off the wall to grab the last of the peppers to bring back out, holding them in your arms as you re-enter the room. “Here we are!” You said, making sure to keep your voice light and cheerful. “You're in luck too, it seems I’ll need to get some more soon.”
“Wonderful!” Zelda bounded over to the small counter with her basket full of other goods. Link coming up beside her as you check them out.
“So what is this new recipe of yours?” You asked, trying not to think too hard about the way Link was quietly watching you work, snapping up when he realized your question was directed at him.
“Oh uhh, it's a soup.”
“Well I hope it turns out! Though you've always been a great cook Link, so I'm sure you don't really need it.” You said looking over to Link who was now rubbing at his neck sheepishly.
“You should come! Link always makes plenty and then I could show you the room we've been working on!”
“Oh n-no I couldn't impose like that!”
“Nonsense!” Zelda shouted, grabbing your hands. “I insist! Please?”
You looked at her, glancing over to Link who looked slightly panicked before giving Zelda a hesitant smile. “I..I guess I could stop by for a bi-”
“Perfect!” She shouted, scooping up the bag and heading towards the door. “Well see you tonight!” Grabbing onto Link's wrist she darted out the door. Link looked back at you for only a moment, almost apologetically, before he was yanked out of sight.
Dumbfounded, you stood there for a moment, wrapping your head around what you had just agreed to. It was hard enough to keep your calm during short interactions like this! And now you were going to have to be with them, with her for probably a few hours trying to keep up the facade?
Oh you were in so much trouble.
You paced behind the counter, chewing on your lip as you tried to convince yourself it would be fine.
Your door bursts open, bell barely ringing to alert you iof someone's presence before someone is grabbing your wrist. Your initial reaction is to pull away, to shove the intruder off of you and start screaming. But the blur of long, dirty blonde hair that drags you into the storage room only has other plans.
You were barely through the door before your back hits the shelves, a mouth crushed onto yours while hands held you in place by your waist. Melting into the heated kiss, you grab the front of his tunic, sliding your hands up and over his shoulders till they wrap around his neck.
“I didn't get a chance to tell you how beautiful you look today” he whispered into your mouth. Kissing the corner of your mouth as his lips trailed off to your jaw. Nipping at your skin softly when you tilted your head back. His hands sliding down to your hips, rubbing slowly circles with his thumb.
“Yeah?”
He draws away, cupping your cheek as he gazes softly into your eyes. “I love you.”
Your smile doesn't quite reach your eyes as you reply quietly. “I love you too.” And kiss his lips again.
“Are you really coming over tonight?”
“I don't think I have much of a choice at this point.” And you weren't wrong. You had a feeling if you didn't show up that Zelda would personally come drag you over there.
“Are you sure? Not that I'm not thrilled to get to see you more but I can think of an excuse if you aren't comfortable-”
“It’ll be okay Link,” Though it's more of a reassurance for yourself at this point. “If she hasn't suspected something by now I'm sure one night won't change that.”
“Well, in that case I guess I’ll see you tonight!” He smirked, leaning in for one more kiss which you were more than happy to supply.
_______
You stood on the wooden bridge that separated the old house from the rest of your quaint village. Hands fidgeting with your skirt as you tried to steady your breathing.
It was going to be fine. There really wasn't any reason to be as nervous as you were, yet you might as well have been tossed into a monster camp with how rapidly your heart was beating. You would just have to keep cool and not focus all of your attention on Link. You could do that. You and Zelda were good enough friends to hold your own conversations though there was still some awkwardness from your side. Probably cause you were secretly dating the man she was currently living with but hey- details.
You took a deep breath, holding it for a few seconds before slowly exhaling it into the night air. You approached confidently, giving a few knocks onto the door before you could think too much about it.
Not surprised to see Zelda standing in the doorway, you offered her a warm smile as she greeted you and ushered you inside. You could see the small table already set with a few plates and utensils. A lovely bouquet of swift violets displayed in the middle of it all. Your heart swelled at the sight of your favorite flower.
“Aren’t they lovely?” Zelda chimed, noticing your lingering gaze towards the purple flowers.
“Quite” You replied softly. You looked in the direction of their small kitchen where Link was currently focusing all his attention on the pot in front of him. His hair tied up, hands flitting about between the pot and a few ingredients still on the counter. The corner of his mouth lifting at the mention of the flowers. “Though I didn’t think these grew around here?”
“You would be correct! They mostly grow in the southwest regions of Hyrule near the gerudo highlands! Though you can find them up north a bit as well! I think that's where Link said he got them earlier, right Link?”
His head finally turned in your direction, blue eyes slowly trailing over you as he nodded absentmindedly.
“You got these today?” You asked, a small blush creeping onto your face as he smiled.
“Was in the right area this afternoon and figured why not. Though I'll admit I'm rather partial to these.” A quick wink and he was back to cooking while you could have melted straight into that pot of his.
“Is that so? Well Zelda is right, they are lovely and I wish they grew more around here.” You explained, sitting down at the table. “What brought you out that way?”
Zelda sat in the chair across from you. “Visiting a friend of ours in Goron City. He is starting an official mining company and I asked Link if he would go check to see how it was coming along! Which reminds me, how is it coming?” She asked, turning her attention to Link who was pouring a few drinks.
“Fine, still mostly in planning. Yunobo said something about finding a spot for ‘HQ’ and then will go from there.” He brought the two glasses over, placing one down on the table for Zelda while handing the other to you directly. You take it graciously, fingers skimming over his for a second longer than necessary before pulling away. Link scurried off back towards the kitchen while Zelda gives you a full debrief about the prospect of what this new found Goron company could provide for Hyrule. And even if you didn't fully understand half of what she was explaining, it was still fascinating.
DInner was ready soon enough, with Link bringing over a few bowls of soup and bits of bread before taking the seat beside you. Just as you expected, the soup was delicious. The flavors complement each other well with the peppers adding just a bit of a kick at the end. You would definitely be leaving with the recipe.
Conversation continued to flow as well though the you were much more distracted with Link by your side. His foot had found yours, nudging it playfully while you chatted. His hand occasionally slipping beneath the table to rub at your thigh before pulling away. You returned the secret affection by pressing your knee against his, sporadically hooking your foot over his that would make him fumble over his words subtly as his cheeks flushed a soft pink.
“Well I definitely think that one is a keeper Link,” Zelda said as she stood, gathering the dishes and depositing them into the sink. “(Y/n) Would you like to go see our project now?”
You nodded, following Zelda out the door towards the well behind the house. The now night air nipped your face, it's warm late summer breeze blowing at your hair as the grass rustled around your feet.
Link was the first one to climb down. Mumbling something about Zelda having fallen once. Her response was to just warn you that it could get slippery but assure you it was perfectly safe. So you threw your leg over onto the first plant of the wooden ladder, climbing down further inside of the well. It was dark, and you understood why they warned you about it being slippery cause the walls were damp and coated in slick rocks and moss as it opened up into the bigger space of their made cave. Link waited for you at the bottom of the ladder, his hands finding your waist as he helped you step off and onto the uneven ground beneath.
You shuffled a few steps away from the ladder, giving enough room for Zelda to stand beside you with the small torch in her hand. Link's hand stayed on your back, his thumb pressing a soft circle where it touched that sent tingles across your skin like the small ripples in the shallow pool of water in front of you.
“Wow” you gasped, looking around. “It's beautiful down here. I can see now why you were so excited for this Zel!”
“I'm so glad you agree! Now that the space is big enough the plan is to build a deck from here out to the…”
“You're beautiful” Link whispered so quietly it was barely audible. You spared him a glance, his eyes holding yours with an almost sad expression before dropping to the ground.
Zelda went on and on about the future plans she holds for the small space the three of you were now standing in. Dramatically throwing her hands around as if she could draw lines in the air to showcase her ideas. You half-heartedly paid attention, heart racing at every small touch from the man beside you.
You knew you would have to leave soon. There was no way you could keep it together for much longer if he kept looking at you the way he was. But the thought saddened you. You didn't want to leave. Not really. You wanted to stay and snuggle up beside him as you fell asleep. To feel his arms wrapped around you and know that in that moment nothing could hurt you.
It felt selfish but damn you really wanted to be selfish for just a few minutes. Just this once.
“It's getting late,” you finally interrupted. “I should probably head back home now but you'll have to let me come see it once it's all finished!”
Zelda went up the ladder first, leaving you and Link alone for a moment. His hand pressed more deliberately against your back, rubbing your spine soothingly.
“You okay?”
You just nod, eyes on the ladder ahead of you.
“Love what's wrong?”
“I miss you..” you whisper, grabbing onto the ladder to start climbing up. An arm snakes around you, a sturdy chest pressed against your back as your eyes start to feel as wet as your surroundings.
“(Y/n)...”
“We should head up,” You say, cutting him off. “Wouldn't want people getting the wrong idea.”
It was a low thing to say, and you regretted it the moment Link stepped away from you and you started climbing back up. Holding back the few tears that threatened to make their appearance as you hauled yourself up and back onto the soft grassy field.
“Thank you for having me over Zelda, it was a lovely time.” The words feel forced and you can only hope it doesn't sound that way as she gives you a hug.
“Can I walk you home?” Link asks, having followed you up. Part of you wants to insist you're fine, not wanting to draw out the inevitable goodbye. But his eyes are pleading with yours that you couldn't say no to no matter how much you wanted to.
He doesn't touch you until his house disappears from view. A finger hooking with yours until eventually your whole hand is in his, swinging softly to the pace of your steps. Neither of you speak until you turn down the small path that leads to your small home.
Link comes to a stop a few feet from your front door, eyes trained on the ground.
“I'm sorry,” he whispers, dropping your hand. “You deserve more than this from me.”
“Link-”
“Dont!” He snaps, “I hate this! I hate leaving you and knowing that it's hurting you as much as it hurts me! That I never really know when I'll be able to see you again or that I'm too big of a coward to stand up to some old hag..”
“You are not a coward!” You shouted, grabbing both his hands in yours. “Link you are the farthest thing from that. It's an impossible situation. I knew that going into this and I'll take it if it means I get to keep you close to me! I'm sorry I shouldn't have-”
“No, I'm sorry.” He pulls you to his chest. Arms wrapping around your shoulders, cradling your head to keep you close as his face hides in the top of your head. “I shouldn't have let this happen. I should have stood my ground, I'm so sorry.”
His hold on you was crushing, not that it bothered you. Your face squished to his shoulder, letting you breathe in his scent as you clung back to him. Neither of you moving away from the other as he continues to ramble off apologies. Brushing off any of your attempts to soothe him until he finally falls silent. Dropping his forehead onto your shoulder for a moment before pulling back.
You grabbed his face, smoothing his cheeks playfully that pulled a short huffed laugh from your sweet hero.
“I love you, and I wouldn't trade our time together for anything.” A short peck on the lips before stepping away. “You should go.”
He sighed, pulling you in for one more kiss goodnight. Whispering his love for you that nearly made you pull him inside and never let him leave again. Instead you watch him walk away again, waving goodnight as he glanced back at you over his shoulder one last time.
_________
You rubbed at your temples, tidying up around your shop in a rushed haze. It has been a rough morning and if the pounding in your head was any sign, it likely wouldn't be getting any better.
The door crashed open, banging against the wall that made you shoot a glare in their direction.
“(Y/n)!”
Link ran towards you with a large smile on his face, scooping you up in his arms as he spun you around. Giggling in surprise, you cling to him tightly until your feet are firmly back on the ground. Link is still holding you, his eyes wide with an excitement you haven't seen since his discovery of bomb flowers. He was dressed in a red tunic, the slate at his hip while a sword and shield was strapped to his back.
“Close up shop! I'm headed out and you are gonna come with me!” He said excitedly, pulling you towards the door.
“Seriously!? Okay wait, Link wait I gotta close!” You laughed, quickly pulling away to dash off and put a few things away.
“Hurry up!” He whined impatiently by the door. Practically bouncing on the balls of his feet as he waited for you to close up your shop.
The moment the lock clicked into place he grabbed your hand, pulling you with him as he ran down the path through Hateno village. Kids running along beside the two of you while adults stared curiously as you race beneath the village arch and into the woods just beyond.
The next few hours are spent running around copious woods and large grassy fields, scavenging interesting herbs and mushrooms. Steering clear of any known monster camps, but the few bokoblins you do inevitably run into are quickly dispatched of by your partner. Each time earning him a kiss or a few as thanks.
Soon you are making your way back home. Fingers intertwined with his in a leisure stroll. It's the happiest you've felt in a long time, wishing every day could feel just like this.
“I have one more stop I gotta make,” he whispers into your ear, tugging you up towards the hill instead of the path to your house. “Follow me!”
You do, trying to match his quickened pace. Laughing at his renewed enthusiasm. “Where are we going?”
“The pond!”
Sure enough, the two of you were coming up on the large pond where a small raft was waiting at the short wooden dock. Link let go of your hand, carefully stepping halfway onto it to keep it steady as he offered his hand out to you.
“My lady,” he said with a teasing ring to his voice as he bowed slightly. “Care to join me?”
You chuckled, accepting his hand with your nose now high in the air. “Of course My Hero.” You say in a similar manner that makes his face turn pink.
He helps you step on, letting you sit against its single mast before he fully gets on. Un-tying it from the dock, it starts to drift away to the middle of the lake where a singular tree stands alone on a tiny speck of land. It takes a few minutes to reach, letting you admire your surroundings. Fingers dipping into the warm water to flick a few drops over at Link who is trying to steer your little raft. He laughs it off, jumping off to pull the raft onto the grass as he helps you step off.
“Is there something you need here?” You ask, seeing nothing noteworthy about the small area. His arms snake around your waist, pulling you in close.
“Right here.”
He scoops you up into his arms, plopping down onto the ground with his back against the tree's trunk. You're sat on his lap, leaning your head on his shoulder as he kisses your forehead. You tilt your face up to his, letting him capture your lips in a gentle kiss that quickly leads to you straddling his hips while his tongue explores your mouth. Hands are gripped tightly to your hips, guiding them to move against him as you both moan and gasp for breath.
All sense of time is lost. The only thing you know is his touch. Hands sliding up beneath your skirt to grab at your thighs as you tug the long strands of his hair.
“Should we take this back to my place?” You say between moans. “We could-”
“(Y/N)!?!”
It was like the world came to a fault, tipping over the edge before shattering into pieces around you. Your head whipped around to see Zelda standing on the shore close by, her eyes wide and widening even further when she caught a glimpse of the man underneath you.
“Link!? What the hell is going on!?”
The two of you scrambled to your feet, Link immediately pushing you behind him as he waded through water towards her. “Zelda! It's..it's a long story but I promise we can explain!”
You followed after him, both of your lower halves sopping wet by the time you reached her. Her expression was hard to read. Obviously shocked but beyond that you couldn't tell if the look in her eyes was out of sadness or anger.
“How long has this been a thing?” She asked, her voice stern but a bit more calmer.
Link glanced back at you, taking your hand in his with a steadying breath.
“A while.” He admitted. “We've been together since before we took down the calamity.”
“Wait really? So all this time you've been hiding it? Why?”
“We just wanted to figure things out,” you said, stepping a bit closer. But Link scoffed which took Zelda by surprise.
“Impa.” He said bluntly. “We didn't say anything because Impa didn't approve. I'm sorry we should have told you. We..I just got scared that you would agree with her.”
Zelda's expression softened, reaching out to grab Link's other hand.
“Link, you have always been there for me. You have sacrificed so much for all of us. Do you love her?”
He nods his head, face turning red.
“Then forget what anyone else says! I'm happy for you guys and if anyone says otherwise then I'll be happy to chat with them!”
Link threw his arms around her in a tight hug. “Thanks Zelda. I'm sorry we lied to you.”
She patted his back sympathetically. “It hurts but I get it. Honestly though I'm a bit relieved. It saves me the trouble of trying to get the two of you together!”
Link stepped back and you hooked your arm with his. “What?”
“Oh yeah! Why did you think I invited you to dinner the other night? You two are clearly into each other and now I guess I know why!”
You and Link shared a look before bursting out into laughter. Zelda grabbed each of your hands, pulling you in the direction of the village.

The canopy of the ancient forest loomed overhead, a dense ceiling of emerald leaves that did little to soothe the raging tempest building inside your chest.
As the princess of the realm, you carried a heavy burden—not just the weight of a crown, but the literal power of the skies. The weather and the sun bound themselves to your emotional whim, a divine gift that currently felt like a curse. Your hands trembled as you looked down at your sword, its once-gleaming blade now jagged, cracked, and ruined from the desperate struggle of the battlefield.
The battle had been an absolute nightmare. Smoke had filled the air, and out of the chaos, you had watched in sheer horror as your sworn knight and protector, Link, was overwhelmed, injured, and dragged away by the enemy forces. You had been forced to flee, narrowly escaping with your life, your heart shattering into a thousand pieces. He was gone. The thought echoed cruelly in your mind. Link, who had always been your silent anchor, was dead.
You collapsed against the moss-covered trunk of a massive oak tree, desperately fighting back the tears. You knew that if you let your walls break, the sky would break with you.
As you sat there, stifling your sobs and hugging your knees to your chest, the forest seemed to mourn with you. The rustling of the leaves slowed to a gentle whisper.
Slowly, quietly, the wild inhabitants of the woods began to emerge from the undergrowth. A majestic stag stepped into the clearing, its dark eyes filled with an ancient empathy, before gently lowering itself to rest just a few feet away. A pair of foxes crept closer, their fiery coats bright against the moss, curlling up near your boots. A few birds drifted down from the branches, settling softly around you in a silent circle of comfort. They could feel the immense, suffocating grief radiating from the sun princess.
But the comfort of the wilderness was not enough to patch the gaping hole in your soul. Your throat ached from holding back the cries of a grieving ruler and a heartbroken girl.
Then, through the heavy silence of the woods, a sound broke the quiet.
Step. Crunch. Step.
Your breath hitched. The animals instantly shifted, ears perking up, but they didn’t run. You froze, your heart stopping entirely. You could recognize those footsteps anywhere. It was a cadence engraved into your very being—the steady, rhythmic pace of someone who had walked a thousand miles by your side, always exactly three paces behind, keeping guard.
You lifted your head, and through the parting thicket, a figure emerged. He was bruised, his armor was scuffed and stained with dirt, and a makeshift bandage was wrapped tightly around his arm—but it was him.
Link.
The moment your eyes locked with his, the fragile dam holding back your emotions completely shattered.
The sky above let out a deafening, violent crack of thunder that shook the very ground beneath your feet. In an instant, the bright daylight vanished, swallowed by heavy, dark clouds as the rain began to pour in torrential sheets, perfectly mirroring the tears that finally spilled over your eyelashes and washed down your cheeks.
Neither of you hesitated. You scrambled to your feet, abandoning your broken sword, and ran toward him. Link closed the distance in desperate, lunging strides. Just as you reached him, your knees gave out from sheer emotional exhaustion. You collapsed forward, but Link was already there, dropping heavily to his knees to catch you before you could hit the earth.
"I thought you were dead," you sobbed, your voice breaking over the roar of the downpour. You lunged forward, crashing into him with a fierce, desperate hug, burying your face into the crook of his neck. "I thought I lost you… I let everyone down. The kingdom, the castle… I couldn't save them. I couldn't save you!"
Link didn't care about the rain or his injuries. He wrapped one strong arm securely around your waist, pulling you as close as humanly possible, while pressing his other hand firmly against the muddy ground to stabilize both of your shifting weights. He held you tight, his chin resting against your damp hair, his chest heaving as he took in the reality that you were alive.
As he held you in the pouring rain, feeling the frantic beat of your heart against his chest, something shifted deeply within Link. The stoic walls of the knight melted away completely. Holding you like this, a sudden, overwhelming rush of memories flooded his mind, unlocking feelings he had kept fiercely guarded for years.
He remembered a quiet, golden afternoon in the castle gardens, where you had accidentally made a soft drizzle fall because you were stressed about your royal duties. He hadn't said a word, he had simply stepped forward and held an umbrella over your head, staying there for hours until you finally smiled and the sun returned.
He remembered the freezing winds of the Hebra Mountains, where you had both been trapped in a sudden blizzard. As he shivered, you had gently taken his calloused hands in yours, using the power of the sun to channel a soothing, radiating warmth directly into his bones, saving him from the frost.
He remembered sitting on the high stone ramparts of the citadel at twilight. You had looked out over the horizon and softly confessed your deepest fears of failing your people. In that quiet moment, looking at the profile of your face illuminated by the dying light, he had silently vowed that he would be your shield forever—not just because of duty, but because of devotion.
The truth struck him with the force of the thunder overhead. He loved you. He had loved you for an eternity.
"I thought I lost you, too," Link murmured, his voice thick with uncharacteristic emotion, his grip tightening around your waist. "When they separated us… all I could think about was getting back to you."
As the confession left his lips, the violent downpour began to slacken. The heavy, dark clouds started to part, thinning out as your despair transformed into a profound, overwhelming relief.
Link pulled back just enough to look at you, his thumb gently brushing a mixture of rain and tears from your cheek. His breathing was shallow, his blue eyes searching yours with a vulnerability you had never seen in him before. Hesitantly, as if afraid he might wake up from a beautiful dream, he leaned in and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to your wet cheek.
The moment his lips touched your skin, the gloomy shadows of the forest receded. A single, brilliant ray of golden sunlight broke through the canopy, beaming down like a spotlight, shining only on the two of you, warming the damp earth beneath your knees.
You stared into his beautiful, striking eyes, your breath catching in your throat. The silence between you was charged with a newfound, breathtaking tension.
Link’s gaze flicked down to your lips. Taking a slow, trembling breath, he leaned in hesitantly once more. He pressed a gentle, agonizingly sweet kiss to the corner of your mouth, letting the warmth of his breath mingle with yours. Then, losing himself to the gravity of the moment, he shifted slightly and pressed his lips directly to yours.
It took a second for your brain to process the warmth, the tenderness, and the sheer reality of his lips against yours. But as the truth washed over you, you melted into him. You closed your eyes and kissed him back, your hands reaching up to tangle in his damp hair, pulling him closer.
The absolute second your lips parted to return the kiss, the magic inside you responded to the pure joy exploding in your heart.
The single ray of light fractured into a spectacular display. Beams of brilliant, radiant sunlight broke through the trees in every single direction, piercing the gloom of the forest and turning the falling raindrops into a dazzling cascade of shimmering diamonds. The entire woods were flooded with a breathtaking, golden warmth, wrapping around the two of you. Together.

Link felt a flutter in his chest as he noticed you in Castle Town, a woven basket hanging off your arm as you chatted idly with someone manning a produce stall.
He shifted awkwardly, contemplating walking over to you, or saving himself the embarrassment of being in your divine presence.
He loved being around you, he truly couldn't get enough of it; however, he did constantly worry that he'd say something wrong and ruin his chances with you.
While he stood frozen, torn between moving on about his day, approaching you, or just hoping in vain that you'd notice him on your own, you finished speaking with the shopkeeper, happening to turn in his direction as you moved to leave.
"Oh, Link! I should've expected I'd see you around here. How are you doing, darling?" You smiled, waving to him with your free hand.
He couldn't help but flush at the nickname. It was something you did with everyone, but it still made him feel special--like he was being noticed by you.
He took a few steps closer to you, nodding in greeting. Despite not saying a word, he hoped he made it clear that he intended to engage in conversation with you.
You took the hint--naturally, you were so perfect like that, being so understanding of him and reading him so well--and smiled, going on about how long it had been since you were able to properly speak to him.
You shuffled, hands moving as you spoke animatedly, and it was then that he noticed movement behind your skirt, tiny hands fisting into the fabric that he imagined was pleasantly soft. Wide, curious eyes peeking out at him from behind you.
It was your daughter.
Gods, she looked just like you; like someone had simply reversed your age. She had your eyes, your hair, and her face was shaped just like yours–albeit with more baby fat.
Link wanted to give you one too. A little darling that looked just like you running around, but with his eyes, or maybe his untamed, dirty-blond hair.
“Don’t be shy, honey, Link is kind.” You smiled down at your daughter, eyes full of adoration as you gazed at your little copy with endless love. Link wanted you to look at him like that. He’d do anything for that.
He felt a flutter in his stomach at your admission of his character.
Seeming to trust your word, your daughter stepped out to stand beside you, though one hand still clutched at your skirt.
“H…Hi Mr. Link. I’m Nayru… Mommy talks about you a lot.” Her voice was small, and it reminded him of you, when you would mumble out your words.
Gods, he was getting baby fever.
As her words registered, though, his brain seemed to short-circuit for a moment. He surprised even himself that he managed to keep a straight face as he noticed your sudden blush.
“Ah, w-well, you’ve done so much for me, Link. You’re a hero, and the other day, you did me a service I could never hope to repay. Forgive me if I tend to sing your praises.” You were embarrassed, and Link felt the fluttering in his stomach rise to an uncomfortable degree, but he couldn’t feel anything other than unadulterated bliss.
You talked about him? A lot? Oh, what did you say? He’d kill to know. He prayed that the blush on your face meant you’d been confessing your attraction to him. He felt a twitch below the belt at the thought.
You, talking about him? Praise? Link felt the warmth crawling up his neck, and suddenly felt that this conversation was outrunning his endurance to keep his composure.
Trying to clear his now foggy mind, he got down on a knee to be eye level with your daughter.
“It’s…nice to meet you, Nayru. You have a beautiful name.” His voice was soft, and he thanked the heavens that it didn’t crack from disuse. (The embarrassment would surely kill him, or at least butcher his ego.) He truly did think the name was beautiful. You’d named her after the goddess of wisdom, and he had to take the opportunity to compliment both your daughter and you at the same time.

Your lips parted. It wasn’t often that Link graced you with his voice. He had a habit of speaking only when strictly necessary, and even then, his sentences were short and broken to communicate nothing but his point. (Little did you know that you had a habit of bringing out his voice more than anyone else.)
Just when you’d started to calm down from your daughter exposing your swooning over him when he wasn’t around, he’d gone and spoken so softly to her, and he looked at her with a smile that made the butterflies in your stomach melt.
If anyone would be a good father, it would be him. He was like the missing piece to your puzzle of a family, and you wished nothing more than for him to slot into that empty space.

Part One | Part Two
Gasping for breath you sat up violently, droplets of water rolling off your body. You looked around at your surroundings in panic, unsure of where you were or why. Your head felt foggy as you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. The walls were made out of sandy bricks, the cavern nearly completely dark save for the bed you were laying in that glowed an aqua blue. Sitting up, you noticed that you were only in your undergarments. Looking around once again you noticed a few chests strewn about, so you tried to stand up, legs wobbly from misuse, but you felt as healthy as ever. Once you finally found your footing, you crawled out of the…was it even a bed? It looked more like a bath or tub. Anyways, you made your way towards the chests, opening the one closest to you, which seemed to hold brightly colored clothes with gold ornaments and accessories.
Putting on the lightweight breathable clothing and accessories, you opened the second chest which held an old leather bound book and a satchel. Curious, you picked up the book, you couldn’t help but think that the old worn pages seemed oddly familiar as your fingers ghosted over the words written, but before you could read anything the sound of rocks rumbling reverberated throughout the entire cave made you snap it shut. Reflexively, you found yourself tense, eyes scanning as much of the dark cavern as possible. As stealthily as you could, you tiptoed towards the noise, seeing no other exit. A sweltering breeze hit you before you could see the sunlight that poured through, an opening to the cavern seemed to have unsealed itself.
The scenery was a bit disheartening. I mean looking around at the vast emptiness of a hot fiery desert...not the best place to be stranded in, but it explained why the clothes were light colored and made of such breathable material. Observing your surroundings once again, you tried to come up with a plan to ensure your survival. In the distance you noticed a city that seemed to bend with the heat. Glancing up, the sun that shined brightly in the sky seemed like it was going to set soon, and your best bet at surviving would be to leave right away. The heat was stifling as you trekked across the sandy expanse. Each step you made felt like you had barely made any progress, but you kept walking. Pulling the scarf tighter over your head, you couldn’t help your mind from spiraling.
Who were you and what were you doing here? Of course it had been eating at you since you first awoke, but survival was your top priority, now? You had time to ponder the whole situation. Everything was strangely familiar, like you had walked these paths before but you can’t remember the details as to why. Not to mention this weird feeling like you should be rushing, that someone was in danger, that you needed to find them as soon as possible. But who? Why couldn’t you remember anything? You felt like you were going insane, like the word was on the tip of your tongue but for the life of you you couldn’t get it out.
“Sav’orr,” A woman greeted you, a guard by the looks of it. You hadn’t even realized you made it to the city already. “I haven’t seen you before. Welcome to Gerudo.”
“Thank you,” You replied with an uncertain smile. Entering the city you felt in awe as water cascaded down aqueducts, women littering the center, many vendors calling out about their goods. It felt overwhelming, and you quickly found a vacant alley, sitting on a barrel. Pulling out your only item from your satchel, you gazed at the cover for a few seconds before finally opening to the first page and started to read.
Dear Diary,
Today I was hired as the Princesses personal servant.
Your brows furrowed, these words creating a sense of deja vu in your scrambled mind.
I was given a uniform, it wasn’t the most flattering. With the same colors that represented the royal family, yet exceedingly boring. I suppose that makes sense since I’m merely a servant but it doesn’t mean I’m happy. Once I changed, a guard escorted me into a tea room, a maid was standing next to the one and only princess.
I was terrified as she quietly drank her tea. I bowed in greeting, unsure if I should speak or not, and when I glanced up she held an expecting look. I felt like a fool, feeling as if I had already failed her in some way. I greeted myself, not sure what else I could possibly say. The princess sounded as sweet as ever, just like during her speeches, a warm smile on her face as she welcomed me.
I blinked as the entry ended. This…was this your diary? No wonder it screamed familiar, these were your memories, your writing, your life. It still felt all scrambled in your head, but just as things were being answered ten more questions popped up. You were a royal servant, Princess Zelda’s right hand…so what were you doing in the desert? Why were you in some sort of shrine? What…happened? Did you even want to know?
Dear Diary,
Today I met the hero knight, and not in the way you’d think. I am required to know basic fighting. Even though I am merely a servant I suppose protecting the Princess is the most important part of my job since I’d be traveling with her outside of the castle. Learning to protect myself would be important as well I suppose.
It was a bit nerve wracking at first, I felt out of place and unsure where to go. I was merely told I would have a trainer waiting for me in the training hall, nothing more nothing less. Seriously, how do they expect me to do my job without giving me details? I felt my inner thoughts spirling as I stood there, sticking out like a sore thumb. I felt so foolish, something I am getting used to. Anyways, I was lucky to have someone approach me first, guiding me to my personal trainer.
A blonde haired knight was sparring with a brunette. The kind man pointed out that he was whom I would be training with. I remember that blonde hair, stoic as always as he stood by Zelda’s side during her public appearances. It would make sense that her personal knight trained her personal servant, but I felt myself worry. I don’t think I can live up to the standards they’re putting on me.
I learned quickly that he didn’t speak much, relying on gestures more than anything. Hylia help me.
You felt your heart drop, one name reverberating through your head as you read that segment. Link. How could you forget? Everything in you screamed that he wasn’t important, someone you cared about, but you just couldn’t remember why. You couldn’t remember these moments on your own, the only thing bringing them to life was your words on the paper. You had to read more, put the pieces together on why you’re here and what happened to land you with such a blank in your memory.
Dear Diary,
The princess had a meeting with the champions today. Brave people who represented their people’s alliance with Hyrule. The meeting was hopeful as the Princess described the Divine Beasts and how each champion would control their own. I shouldn’t write any more down as it is classified information.
I felt severely out of place, but I knew my role. I was the Princess’s personal servant, her right hand, someone who was to stand by her side 24/7, just like the champion. We had a mutual understanding, we shared similar roles, mine more domestic and his more violent, yet we held our heads high with pride. I have become more accustomed to my role over the past few months, and the Princess and Champion have been nothing but kind.
I believe in these people, their determination and hope shall pave a way to peace for all of Hyrule and Ganon will be defeated. I’m sure of it.
You felt your eyes water as you read. Your heart felt inexplicably heavy reading the last line, but you were unsure why. You had a feeling your past words were inexplicably naive, as what else would explain your current predicament?
Dear Diary,
I must keep this brief. My future self, when you read this do not lose hope. Link has been gravely injured, the Princess has escorted him to the Shrine of Resurrection, she will be stuck keeping Ganon at bay until he awakes again. She has tasked us with accompanying him when he does. Head to Kakariko village, speak to Impa, she will guide you next.
And please, take ca-
The last part cut off, clearly you had ran out of time, the paper smudged with water stains. It seemed that things had gone wrong, terribly wrong. Once again your heart was pounding with adrenaline, your mission clear. Standing up with a newfound purpose, you had only stepped one foot in the central square before you were stopped by two guards, posture pristine as they regarded you.
Speaking up, one of them mentioned your name, asking if it was you. You nodded in apprehension, unsure of what this meant.
“Please, follow us,” The other bowed her head before they turned their back to you and walked towards the palace-like building. A short, child-like lady sat on a throne that sat in the center of the main room, she was adorned with more gold and jewels than anyone else, and when her emerald eyes landed on you she perked up.
“Hello, my name is Lady Riju” She greeted you, eyes squinting suspiciously. “I’ve brought you here because my mother has tasked me to help the person who was locked in the shrine. That is you, correct?”
“Yes,” You nodded, bowing your head. “I have awoken mere hours ago, my lady.” It seems your servant instincts have stuck with you.
“Buliara, gather the proper resources for this traveler’s journey,” Lady Riju commanded her right hand guard. “Make sure it’s enough for their travels to…”
“Kakariko village, my liege,” you supplied.
“Yes, my lady,” Buliara kneeled before rushing off to order the other guards to help.
“Thank you for your help,” you bowed your head once more.
“My mother’s mother, my mother, and therefore I was tasked to aid the hero's companion,” Lady Riju explained. “Do not fail your task.”
“I won’t.”
…
The trek through the desert was long and arduous. Lady Riju was kind enough to have two guards escort you to the end of Gerudo Valley. You thanked them both profusely as they wished you well on the rest of your journey. That had already taken a night and one and a half days to complete. It would take you well over a week to complete the rest. You didn’t take much time to rest, only when the weather was bad or if your eyes were begging for just one night. You needed to get to Kakariko Village as soon as possible, what if Link had already awoken? What if you were late? What if Link was already completing his journey and it was a waste to put you to sleep in that shrine?
Though you can’t remember things clearly, you could still feel that tinge of nerves in your gut that the Princess put too much trust in you, that she deemed your role more important than it really was. So you pressed on through heavy wind and rain, crossed treacherous bridges, killed the enemies that stood in your way (thanks to the sword and shield gifted to you by the Gerudo), and nearly wept when you finally stepped foot in the village, bright red banners welcoming your entrance. Farmers glanced at you curiously as you walked through, your brightly colored garb and golden bangles catching their attention. You would have to find clothes better suited for the fields of Hyrule as you found yourself chilled more often than nought.
All you knew at the moment was that you needed to find Impa, and something told you the huge house at the center of the village was where she resided. With newfound passion, you climbed the grand amount of stairs that lead up to the house. Should you have gotten some rest beforehand? Probably, as you found yourself stumbling and tripping every so often. But you were close, so close. Close to finding Link, close to starting your journey by his side, close to truly beating Ganondorf. You were nearly there as you climbed the last step, your shoulders untensing. Nearly there as you opened the door. Nearly…there…as you swayed, eyes landing on an incredibly old woman who stared at you knowingly. Nearly…there
CRASH
…
Sunlight that snuck past the curtain caused your face to scrunch, your head pounding and bones achy. It seems the past week or so had finally caught up to you. You heard a soft voice that sounded nervous, and as you opened your eyes, a pale haired woman was revealed to you. Letting out a gasp, she jumped away from your form, shuffling backwards while she clasped her hands.
“My apologies,” She murmured, head bowed. “You had fallen from exhaustion and my grandmother tasked me with taking care of you.”
“Th-thank you,” Your voice was raspy as you spoke, both from disuse and not drinking enough water.
“Ah! I’ll go fetch you some water,” She had run out the door before you could deny her help or learn her name. Sitting up, you tried to stifle a pained groan as your limbs felt sore every way possible.
The kind lady was back quickly, water sloshing dangerously close to the rim of the cup she held. You thanked her before taking a sip, quickly chugging it all down.
“Thank you,” You thanked once more as she took the empty cup. “And I apologize for my disrespectful display, I shall repay you for your kindness.”
“O-oh…you really don’t need to,” She waved her hands erratically, a small blush dusting her cheeks. “You are the one who is to accompany the hero, correct? Grandma Impa has talked about you and the hero much over the years. It’s an honor to finally meet you.”
“It’s nice to meet you as well…” You trailed off, still not knowing her name.
“I’m sorry!” She exclaimed, hands raised to cover her face. “I’m not used to talking. Please, call me Paya.”
“Thank you, Lady Paya,” You bowed your head.
“Y-yes, of course,” She mumbled in response, fidgeting with her hands. “Grandma wishes to meet with you when you’re ready.”
“I’ll go now-” Flipping the blanket off of you, your legs nearly gave out on you when you put your full weight on them.
“Be careful,” Paya gasped, hands held out to catch you. “You really should get some more rest.”
“I don’t mean to worry you, miss,” You smiled awkwardly. “But this is of utmost importance.”
“Right,” She frowned slightly. “Then I’ll escort you to the main room.”
The stairs seemed to taunt you as your legs just begged for you to let gravity take its course, but Paya stood dutifully by your side, eyeing you carefully, arm out and ready to grab you before you took a potential tumble. Once you entered the main room, the same lady from before watched you both with a twinkle in her eye. She called your name out like you were an old friend, a chuckle tumbling past her lips.
“Still as selfless as always I see,” She shook her head with a sigh, the chains on her hat swaying. “Take a seat.”
You sat across from her without question, Paya scurrying away the second you seemed stable. “Are you Lady Impa?” You asked, eyes trailing over the elderly woman whose smile turned solemn at your question.
“What do you remember,” The lady asked, hands folded in her lap.
Squinting your eyes, you looked down at the floorboards, “Not…not much. I’ve read my old diary, I don’t fully remember living those moments…but deep down I know it was me.”
“I see,” Impa hummed. “Do you remember your purpose?”
“To aid Link on his journey,” You spoke without missing a beat.
Impa let out a short laugh, “You seem to care greatly for him still. I suppose some things will never change. Unfortunately, he has not shown his face yet.” A mix of relief and concern filled you. You were glad you weren’t too late, but concerned as to why he hasn’t come yet. Had you woken up at the same time? Was he still sleeping? Perhaps you should go search for him-
“In the meantime I will let the owner of the inn know of your predicament, and you will be given a room there,” She explained before grabbing an item you didn’t even notice resting next to her. “But it is clear you know your reason for fighting, so I shall give this to you. Now it is time for you to rest so you are prepared for Link’s arrival.”
“Thank you, Lady Impa,” You bowed, accepting the clothes she handed you with grace. “I shall do my best to uphold the honor of standing by Sir Link and Princess Zelda’s side.”
“I’m sure you will.”
…
Getting rest was easier said than done for you. Perhaps your brain couldn’t remember your past, but your body seemed to remember all too much. You felt so jittery and antsy that sitting down felt like a chore. It didn’t help that bits and pieces of memories were flitting through your head each night. Whispers of those who have already departed from this realm, hopeful memories dashed by reality, it made you feel sick.
And so you found yourself preparing what one would need to go and fight the demon king Ganon. You had asked the villagers if you could work for some rupees, whether it be by fighting nearby monsters to hauling vegetables. It wasn’t much, but it gave you enough to stock up on arrows, food, and even some clothing pieces that looked useful.
It was two weeks later when the hero had finally stepped foot into the village. You had been feeding some chickens when the whispers of the other villagers reached your ears. A strange hylian had appeared with branches for a sword and donned a toga. Apparently he had headed for Impa’s hut, and you were soon to follow. You rushed to finish your chores, thanking the old man kindly for the rupees before dashing up the grand amount of steps that lead to Impa’s hut.
Before you could open the door Paya stood in your way, eyes wide at your desperation.
“Uh-uhm,” She stuttered, pale cheeks turning a light pink. “Grandma is busy at the moment…she said she needs some time alone with the hero.”
You bit your lip, anticipation killing you. Your memory was still fuzzy, peoples faces still blurry, but the two you remembered the most were Princess Zelda and Link. Link who had trained you, Link who was quiet but cared overwhelmingly so, Link who you fought side by side at the end, who sacrificed himself to protect the Princess, who sacrificed himself for you…
But Paya’s anxious demeanor made you keep your wits about you. Letting out a sigh, you took a seat on the first step. You had made it this far, waited for so long, you could wait a few more minutes…at least that was what you had to repeatedly remind yourself as your leg bounced. Your fingers fumbled with the fabric of your past uniform, every second felt like an hour, if you thought waiting days was tough, now that he was here, waiting felt even worse.
Your head snapped back when the door creaked open, revealing the familiar head of blonde hair you regret forgetting. Those cerulean eyes landed on you, but your heart broke when he didn’t seem to remember. No smile like he usually wore around you, no questioning tilt of his head when he worried you were hurt, just a blank look that seemed to question your existence.
“Li…Sir,” You greeted, falling to your knee in front of him. With your head bowed, you missed the way his eyes widened in surprise. Stating your name, you continued your greeting, “Tasked by Princess Zelda, I shall accompany you on your journey to defeat Ganon. My sword is yours. If you need anything, do not be afraid to ask.”
You only lifted your head when you felt him touch your shoulder, Link kneeled across from you, shaking his head. Fear coursed within you, was he rejecting your help? Noticing your fear he opened his mouth before his eyebrows furrowed. Noticing his predicament, you raised your hands and started to sign, ‘Is there a problem with this arrangement?’
His eyes widened, gazing at you in slight awe before signing back, ‘I don’t remember anything.’
‘That’s okay,’ You signed back, a gentle smile resting on your lips. ‘I can help you try and remember.’
‘Thank you,’ Link signed, eyes softening slightly.
‘Of course,’ you signed back. ‘I promise that I will do my duty and help you with any problem that may arise.’
It was then that your long adventure with the hero of Hyrule had begun.
