loz masterlist (not yet made)
The canopy of the ancient forest loomed overhead, a dense ceiling of emerald leaves that did little to soothe the raging tempest building inside your chest.
As the princess of the realm, you carried a heavy burden—not just the weight of a crown, but the literal power of the skies. The weather and the sun bound themselves to your emotional whim, a divine gift that currently felt like a curse. Your hands trembled as you looked down at your sword, its once-gleaming blade now jagged, cracked, and ruined from the desperate struggle of the battlefield.
The battle had been an absolute nightmare. Smoke had filled the air, and out of the chaos, you had watched in sheer horror as your sworn knight and protector, Link, was overwhelmed, injured, and dragged away by the enemy forces. You had been forced to flee, narrowly escaping with your life, your heart shattering into a thousand pieces. He was gone. The thought echoed cruelly in your mind. Link, who had always been your silent anchor, was dead.
You collapsed against the moss-covered trunk of a massive oak tree, desperately fighting back the tears. You knew that if you let your walls break, the sky would break with you.
As you sat there, stifling your sobs and hugging your knees to your chest, the forest seemed to mourn with you. The rustling of the leaves slowed to a gentle whisper.
Slowly, quietly, the wild inhabitants of the woods began to emerge from the undergrowth. A majestic stag stepped into the clearing, its dark eyes filled with an ancient empathy, before gently lowering itself to rest just a few feet away. A pair of foxes crept closer, their fiery coats bright against the moss, curlling up near your boots. A few birds drifted down from the branches, settling softly around you in a silent circle of comfort. They could feel the immense, suffocating grief radiating from the sun princess.
But the comfort of the wilderness was not enough to patch the gaping hole in your soul. Your throat ached from holding back the cries of a grieving ruler and a heartbroken girl.
Then, through the heavy silence of the woods, a sound broke the quiet.
Step. Crunch. Step.
Your breath hitched. The animals instantly shifted, ears perking up, but they didn’t run. You froze, your heart stopping entirely. You could recognize those footsteps anywhere. It was a cadence engraved into your very being—the steady, rhythmic pace of someone who had walked a thousand miles by your side, always exactly three paces behind, keeping guard.
You lifted your head, and through the parting thicket, a figure emerged. He was bruised, his armor was scuffed and stained with dirt, and a makeshift bandage was wrapped tightly around his arm—but it was him.
Link.
The moment your eyes locked with his, the fragile dam holding back your emotions completely shattered.
The sky above let out a deafening, violent crack of thunder that shook the very ground beneath your feet. In an instant, the bright daylight vanished, swallowed by heavy, dark clouds as the rain began to pour in torrential sheets, perfectly mirroring the tears that finally spilled over your eyelashes and washed down your cheeks.
Neither of you hesitated. You scrambled to your feet, abandoning your broken sword, and ran toward him. Link closed the distance in desperate, lunging strides. Just as you reached him, your knees gave out from sheer emotional exhaustion. You collapsed forward, but Link was already there, dropping heavily to his knees to catch you before you could hit the earth.
"I thought you were dead," you sobbed, your voice breaking over the roar of the downpour. You lunged forward, crashing into him with a fierce, desperate hug, burying your face into the crook of his neck. "I thought I lost you… I let everyone down. The kingdom, the castle… I couldn't save them. I couldn't save you!"
Link didn't care about the rain or his injuries. He wrapped one strong arm securely around your waist, pulling you as close as humanly possible, while pressing his other hand firmly against the muddy ground to stabilize both of your shifting weights. He held you tight, his chin resting against your damp hair, his chest heaving as he took in the reality that you were alive.
As he held you in the pouring rain, feeling the frantic beat of your heart against his chest, something shifted deeply within Link. The stoic walls of the knight melted away completely. Holding you like this, a sudden, overwhelming rush of memories flooded his mind, unlocking feelings he had kept fiercely guarded for years.
He remembered a quiet, golden afternoon in the castle gardens, where you had accidentally made a soft drizzle fall because you were stressed about your royal duties. He hadn't said a word, he had simply stepped forward and held an umbrella over your head, staying there for hours until you finally smiled and the sun returned.
He remembered the freezing winds of the Hebra Mountains, where you had both been trapped in a sudden blizzard. As he shivered, you had gently taken his calloused hands in yours, using the power of the sun to channel a soothing, radiating warmth directly into his bones, saving him from the frost.
He remembered sitting on the high stone ramparts of the citadel at twilight. You had looked out over the horizon and softly confessed your deepest fears of failing your people. In that quiet moment, looking at the profile of your face illuminated by the dying light, he had silently vowed that he would be your shield forever—not just because of duty, but because of devotion.
The truth struck him with the force of the thunder overhead. He loved you. He had loved you for an eternity.
"I thought I lost you, too," Link murmured, his voice thick with uncharacteristic emotion, his grip tightening around your waist. "When they separated us… all I could think about was getting back to you."
As the confession left his lips, the violent downpour began to slacken. The heavy, dark clouds started to part, thinning out as your despair transformed into a profound, overwhelming relief.
Link pulled back just enough to look at you, his thumb gently brushing a mixture of rain and tears from your cheek. His breathing was shallow, his blue eyes searching yours with a vulnerability you had never seen in him before. Hesitantly, as if afraid he might wake up from a beautiful dream, he leaned in and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to your wet cheek.
The moment his lips touched your skin, the gloomy shadows of the forest receded. A single, brilliant ray of golden sunlight broke through the canopy, beaming down like a spotlight, shining only on the two of you, warming the damp earth beneath your knees.
You stared into his beautiful, striking eyes, your breath catching in your throat. The silence between you was charged with a newfound, breathtaking tension.
Link’s gaze flicked down to your lips. Taking a slow, trembling breath, he leaned in hesitantly once more. He pressed a gentle, agonizingly sweet kiss to the corner of your mouth, letting the warmth of his breath mingle with yours. Then, losing himself to the gravity of the moment, he shifted slightly and pressed his lips directly to yours.
It took a second for your brain to process the warmth, the tenderness, and the sheer reality of his lips against yours. But as the truth washed over you, you melted into him. You closed your eyes and kissed him back, your hands reaching up to tangle in his damp hair, pulling him closer.
The absolute second your lips parted to return the kiss, the magic inside you responded to the pure joy exploding in your heart.
The single ray of light fractured into a spectacular display. Beams of brilliant, radiant sunlight broke through the trees in every single direction, piercing the gloom of the forest and turning the falling raindrops into a dazzling cascade of shimmering diamonds. The entire woods were flooded with a breathtaking, golden warmth, wrapping around the two of you. Together.

The cave of polyphemus was suffocating, thick with the stench of sheep, old bones, and impending doom.
Everything was going wrong. The plan to rescue Grover and secure the golden fleece was unraveling by the second. You pressed your back against the rough stone wall, your heart hammering against your ribs like a trapped bird. As a daughter of apollo, you usually preferred the bright, open sun, so right now, the shadows of the cave felt like a trap.
"I've got this," Annabeth whispered, stepping forward to draw the cyclops's attention.
But Percy grabbed her arm, his sea-green eyes fierce with determination. "No, Annabeth. I'll distract him. Get the fleece and get out."
Before anyone could protest, Percy lunged into the open, shouting a challenge at the massive, one-eyed monster. Polyphemus roared, a sound that shook dust from the cavern ceiling, and swung a massive, tree-trunk-sized fist.
Your breath hitched. Your fatal flaw—that overwhelming, suffocating need to protect the people you cared about—flared up like a wildfire. Your instincts screamed at you to run out there, to put yourself between Percy and the monster, but Grover held you back by your shoulder.
"Wait," Grover hissed. "Let him guide him away!"
It happened in a fraction of a second. Percy dodged the first swipe, but the cave floor was slick. His foot slipped. Polyphemus didn't miss the opening. With a brutal backhand, the cyclops struck Percy, sending him flying across the cavern. He crashed hard against the jagged rocks, a sickening thud echoing through the space, and slumped to the ground, motionless.
"PERCY!" you screamed, the sound tearing from your throat.
The world narrowed down to him. The protectiveness inside you completely overrode any sense of self-preservation. You didn't just want to help, you had to.
Closing your eyes for a split second, you tapped into the unique blessing your father had bestowed upon you. While athena's daugher, Annabeth had the magic cap to turn invisible, apollo had granted you a different kind of camouflage. You focused on the warmth in your chest, and suddenly, a brilliant, shimmering cascade of gold light washed over your skin. To the rest of the world, you vanished completely beneath the golden shimmer, blending seamlessly into the ambient light of the cave.
Moving like a streak of sunlight, you dashed across the cavern floor. Polyphemus was turning back toward Annabeth and Grover, giving you the perfect window.
You materialized right next to Percy, the golden shimmer fading as you dropped to your knees beside him. "Percy, Percy, look at me," you sobbed, your hands shaking violently as you checked his pulse. He was breathing, but he was unconscious, a nasty gash bleeding near his temple. "Please wake up. Come on, seaweed brain, wake up."
"Well, well. Look what we have here."
The cold, mocking voice echoed through the cave, sending a shiver of pure ice down your spine. It wasn't the cyclops.
From the shadows near the secondary entrance of the cave stepped Luke Castellan, flanked by a handful of rogue demigods and monsters. He looked entirely too calm, his gaze locked directly on Percy's prone form.
"Luke," Annabeth gasped, her voice laced with betrayal.
"I'll take the boy," Luke ordered his men, ignoring her completely. "And the Fleece, if you've managed to untie it."
Two large, muscular demigods marched forward. Panic, sharp and blinding, completely took over your mind. You threw yourself over Percy's body, shielding him with your own.
"No! Stay back! Don't touch him!" you shrieked. You were in near hysterics, tears blurring your vision as you pulled your dagger, pointing it wildly at the approaching guards. Your voice cracked with desperation. "I swear to the gods, if you step any closer, I will kill you! Leave him alone!"
Luke looked down at you, a flicker of pity, or maybe just mild amusement, crossing his scarred face. "You can't protect him from this. It's bigger than you, cousin."
"I don't care about your war!" you sobbed, your grip tightening on Percy's jacket as the guards closed in. "You can't take him! Percy, please, wake up! Percy!"
One of the guards easily disarmed you, knocking the dagger from your trembling hand, while the other grabbed your arms, dragging you away from him. You kicked and screamed, fighting with every ounce of strength you had, your powers flaring in bursts of blinding golden sparks that made the guards wince, but it wasn't enough. There were too many of them.
"No! No! Percy!" you wailed, your voice echoing off the cavern walls as they lifted his limp body off the ground.
Annabeth and Grover tried to charge forward to help, but Luke's forces kept them at bay, forcing a retreat toward the exit as the cave began to rumble.
"We have what we came for," Luke said coldly, turning his back on your desperate cries. "Let's go."
As they hauled Percy into the darkness of the tunnels, your heart shattered. An overwhelming weight crushed down on you. You had been right there, and you hadn't been able to save him.
When the dust finally settled and Luke’s forces had vanished with Percy, a heavy, devastating silence fell over the group.
On the rocky ground where Percy had been dragged away lay riptide, returned to its innocent ballpoint pen form, abandoned in the dirt.
You picked it up, your fingers trembling so hard you nearly dropped it. The cool metal felt like a physical manifestation of your failure. You were tearing yourself apart from the inside out. You were supposed to protect him, and now he was gone.
Tyson stood a few feet away, his large shoulders slumped, tears the size of marbles rolling down his face. "Percy," he whimpered. "Where is my brother?"
The sheer heartbreak in the cyclops's voice broke whatever restraint you had left. You dropped the pen into your pocket, stepped forward, and threw your arms around Tyson’s massive torso. You buried your face against him, letting out a jagged, sobbing breath. Tyson wrapped his huge, gentle arms around you, lifting you slightly off the ground as you both wept for the boy who always carried the weight of the world on his shoulders.
But you couldn't stay broken for long. The protectiveness inside you didn't just cause despair, it fueled a desperate, burning resolve. You had to get him back.
Hours later, after tracking the trajectory of Luke's mercenaries, the rescue plan led you to the princess andromeda, the eerie, colossal cruise ship serving as the titan army's floating headquarters.
Sneaking aboard a ship crawling with monsters was suicide for anyone else, but you had a divine advantage.
Standing in the dimly lit, plush carpeting of the ship's upper corridors, you heard the heavy footsteps of a patrol. You closed your eyes, drew a deep breath, and called upon your father’s gift. A warm wave of golden light rippled across your skin, dissolving your silhouette into a shimmer of ambient sunbeams yet again. To the passing hellhounds and dracaenae, you were nothing but a trick of the cruise ship's lighting.
Invisibly, you slipped through the grand hallways until you reached the luxury staterooms. Peering through the cracked door of a holding cell, your heart stopped.
There was Percy. He was bound tightly to a heavy metal bedframe, looking bruised but defiantly awake.
Ensuring the hallway was empty, you slipped inside and let the golden shimmer fade, materializing right beside the bed.
"Percy," you breathed.
His eyes widened in sheer shock. "Sunshine? How did you—"
"Shh," you urged, instantly going to work on the heavy celestial bronze bindings. Your hands flew across the buckles, your protective instincts lending you a hyper-focus. "I'm getting you out of here. I have riptide."
"y/n, wait, you shouldn't have come alone," Percy whispered urgently, though a massive wave of relief washed over his face as the first strap gave way. "Luke is—"
The heavy click of the stateroom door handle echoing through the room cut him off.
"Someone's coming," Percy hissed. "Go! Hide!"
You didn't have time to run to a corner. You snapped your eyes shut, focusing on the golden warmth in your chest. In a fraction of a second, the brilliant golden shimmer enveloped you just as the door swung open. You melted into the background light, standing completely still against the wall, holding your breath.
Luke Castellan walked in, his expression grim. But he wasn't alone. Before he could even address Percy, a sudden commotion exploded from the hallway.
Clarisse burst through the entrance, spear electrified and crackling with absolute fury. She had tracked the ship down on her own accord, determined to finish the quest and prove her worth.
"Castellan!" Clarisse roared, lunging forward with a brutal jab of her spear.
Luke drew his sword, blocking the strike with a harsh ring of metal against metal. "La Rue. You're losing a war you don't even understand."
"I don't care about your war, I care about finishing this and proving my worth!" Clarisse snapped, her eyes blazing as she drove him backward, away from the bed.
With Luke fully distracted and fighting Clarisse side by side in a flurry of sparks and clashing steel, you used the chaos to your advantage. Still cloaked in your golden shimmer, you darted back to the bed, swiftly unbuckling the remaining straps holding Percy down.
As the final restraint snapped open, you pressed riptide into Percy's hand, your invisible fingers brushing against his.
"Go help her," you whispered into his ear, the golden shimmer flickering slightly as you prepared to back him up from the shadows.
Percy gripped the pen, uncapping it in a smooth motion as the bronze blade sprang to life. With a fierce grin, he leaped off the bed, joining Clarisse to face the traitorous son of hermes together.
"You always did have impeccable timing, La Rue!" Percy yelled over the clash of metal.
"Shut up and fight, Jackson!" Clarisse barked, thrusting her spear toward Luke’s chest.
Luke parried both attacks with terrifying precision, his face a mask of cold determination. "You're fighting for a ruined camp," he sneered, kicking Percy back into a desk. "You're on the losing side!"
From the corners of the room, you utilized your father's gift to its absolute limit. Shrouded in the golden shimmer, you moved like a ghost through the room. Every time a rogue demigod or a stray monster tried to blindside Percy or Clarisse, you would briefly materialize, strike with your dagger, and vanish back into a burst of golden light.
"What the—" one of Luke's guards muttered as you swept his legs out from under him while completely invisible, sending him crashing to the floor.
But the sheer volume of reinforcement alarms echoing through the ship's PA system meant your time was running out.
"We need to go, now!" you shouted, letting your camouflage slightly drop as you grabbed Percy’s arm.
"She's right!" Clarisse grunted, throwing a smoke canister she’d stolen from the ship's armory onto the floor.
"We need to split their lines!" Clarisse yelled over the ring of steel, her spear crackling as she slammed a rogue demigod into the bulkhead. "Jackson, y/l/n, run for the lower decks! I’ll draw the main force toward the starboard bow!"
"Clarisse, no—" Percy started, but she had already charged into a crowd of monsters with a fierce battle cry.
"Percy, move!" you pulled on his arm, dropping your golden shimmer all the way so he could grab your hand.
Together, you sprinted down the narrow interior hallway, the heavy thud of combat echoing behind you. You scrambled toward the ship’s elevator, hoping it would lead down to the lower maintenance hatches. Percy hit the button, the doors sliding open, and shoved you inside first to cover your back.
"Percy, get in!" you pleaded, extending your hand.
He stepped inside and turned to press the door-close button. But as the heavy metal doors began to slide shut, a blade flashed through the shrinking gap.
Luke stepped into the doorway, his eyes dark and cold. Before Percy could even raise riptide, Luke thrust his sword straight forward. The blade slid between the closing doors, piercing deep into Percy’s side.
Percy gasped, his eyes going wide with shock as Luke pulled the sword back. The elevator doors snapped shut, leaving you alone in the plummeting box with a collapsing son of poseidon.
"Percy! No, no, no!" you rasped, catching him as his knees buckled.
He slumped heavy against you, sliding down the wall of the elevator. Blood, dark and alarming, was spilling out over his shirt, soaking through his hands as he clutched his torso.
Without the golden fleece in your possession, having sent Clarisse off with it to ensure camp's safety, panic seized your chest. "Percy, look at me! Keep your eyes on me!"
"It… it hurts, y/n…" Percy wheezed, his face turning ghostly pale as he leaned his head back against your shoulder, his weight entirely resting on you.
"No, stay with me! Please!" You pressed both hands firmly over his wound, tears spilling down your face. You were a daughter of apollo, but you were a archer and a stealth-fighter, not a combat medic.
Desperation flared in your fingertips. You refused to let him die here. You squeezed your eyes shut, pressing your palm harder against his torn skin, praying with everything in your heart to your father.
Father, please. Don't let him die. Heal him. Please.
A soft, ambient warmth pulsed beneath your palms. You opened your eyes to a staggering sight. A brilliant, soothing golden light was emanating from your hands, radiating through Percy's skin like sunlight through water.
Percy gasped as the searing pain began to recede, the deep puncture wound visibly knitting itself back together beneath your glowing hands until only a faint scar remained.
The golden glow faded, leaving you breathing heavily and completely stunned. Percy looked down at his intact shirt, then up at your shaking, glowing hands, his eyes wide in disbelief.
"Did you… did you just do that?" Percy whispered, completely awestruck.
"I… I didn't even know I could," you stammered, staring at your own hands before pulling him into a frantic, tight hug. "Don't ever do that again."
By the time you, Percy, and the rest of the group managed to regroup on the florida shore to make camp for the night, the sheer adrenaline of the day had finally burned off.
Late that evening, unable to sleep, you walked down to the small wooden dock extending into the dark, quiet lake nearby. You sat at the edge, kicking off your shoes and letting your bare feet dangle into the cool water, watching the ripples break the reflection of the moon.
Soft footsteps crunched against the wooden planks behind you. Percy walked out, scratching the back of his neck, and sat down right next to you, letting his own feet hang over the water.
"Hey," he said softly.
"Hey," you replied, giving him a quiet smile.
"I just… wanted to say thanks," Percy said, looking out over the water. "Back in that elevator… I really thought that was it. You saved my life, y/n. In more ways than one."
"I told you," you whispered, looking at him sideways. "I'm not letting anything happen to you."
Percy turned his body toward you, his sea-green eyes holding yours with an intensity that made your pulse race. "It's not just your ‘apollo’ instincts, is it?"
Your breath hitched. "How do you mean?"
"I mean…" Percy reached out, his hand gently brushing a strand of hair behind your ear, his thumb lingering against your cheek. "You risk everything for me. And every time I think about losing you, I lose my mind. It's not just about being campmates, sunshine."
"Percy…" your voice was barely a whisper.
He leaned in closer, his gaze dropping to your lips before meeting your eyes again. "I really, really like you."
"I really like you too," you breathed, leaning toward him as your heart hammered in your chest.
The space between you shrank to almost nothing, your eyes fluttering shut as you felt his breath against your skin—
"HEY! LOVEBIRDS!" Clarisse's loud, booming voice shattered the quiet night from the campsite, accompanied by the sound of her slapping her hand against a tree trunk. "It's time to sleep! You guys can do all that mushy stuff later!"
You both jumped apart as if burned, your faces instantly flushing hot.
Percy cleared his throat loudly, staring off at a random tree, while you buried your burning face in your hands, your skin literally sparkling with tiny, embarrassed golden sparks.
"We were just talking!" Percy yelled back, his voice cracking slightly.
"Yeah, yeah, sure!" Clarisse snorted from the shadows. "Go to sleep!"
The next morning, the urgency returned in full force. When you arrived at the borders of camp half-blood, chaos was waiting. Luke's forces had caught up, trying to stop the Fleece from reaching Thalia’s pine tree.
Monsters and rogue demigods swarmed the hill, trying to break through the decaying magical boundary.
"They're trying to push the line!" Clarisse yelled, holding the golden fleece tightly wrapped around her shoulders as she swung her spear. "Jackson! Y/n! Cover the flank!"
"On it!" Percy shouted, uncapping riptide.
You and Percy fought like a single unit, an absolute nightmare for Luke's forces. You were a total power couple on the battlefield.
Percy summoned a swirling torrent of water from the nearby creek, sweeping a wave of monsters off their feet. As they stumbled, you tapped into your gift, vanishing beneath a dazzling shimmer of gold light. You reappeared instantly behind two warriors, taking them down with precise strikes before vanishing back into the golden light before their allies could even swing back at you.
"Behind you, seaweed brain!" you shouted, briefly materializing to throw a dagger straight through the shield of a rogue demigod sneaking up on him.
"Got your back!" Percy grinned, using his power to blast another monster off you just as it lunged.
Side by side, moving in perfect sync with gold flashes and crashing waves, you cleared a path straight up the hill, completely dominating the battlefield until Clarisse could breach the perimeter.
"Clarisse, go!" Percy roared, knocking back the last of the enemies.
Clarisse sprinted to the dying, blackened pine tree and threw the golden fleece over its branches.
Instantly, a wave of pure, divine energy surged out. The black, rotting wood flushed with vibrant brown life, green pine needles bursting back onto the branches in a blinding flash of golden-green light. The magical boundary snapped back into place with a concussive shockwave, vaporizing the remaining monsters outside the border and restoring the camp's protection in an instant.
The demigods watching from below erupted into wild cheers.
"We did it," you breathed, letting your hand holding another dagger drop to your side as you stood beside Percy near the base of the tree.
Percy smiled at you, taking your hand and squeezing it tightly. "We did it."
But the magical energy radiating from the fleece didn't stop. It began to pulse harder, glowing with an unnatural, overwhelming brilliance. The air around the hill turned sharp with static electricity, the sky above darkening into a sudden, violent storm.
"What's happening?" Annabeth gasped, rushing up the hill toward you.
Before anyone could answer, a jagged bolt of pure, white lightning erupted straight down from the sky, striking the base of the tree with a deafening CRACK.
The force of the blast threw you and Percy backward onto the grass. As the smoke cleared and the blinding light faded, a figure lay gasping on the wet earth at the foot of the tree.
It was a girl with curly black hair, wearing leather pants and a torn jacket, shivering as she coughed up rainwater.
Chiron trotted forward, his horse-body trembling, his face completely filled with shock. "By the gods…"
Percy pushed himself up, still holding your hand, staring at the girl in shock.
The girl lifted her head, her piercing, stormy eyes locking directly onto Percy.
Percy stood frozen, the weight of the prophecy suddenly shifting under his feet as he realized he was no longer the only child of the big three alive, and as he pulled you closer to his side, he knew the war had only just begun.
