I went painting at the Palace of Fine arts last week. It was such a beautiful day! The lighting was amazing. I loved the incredibly warm light bouncing up into the shadows of these pillars. It was fun seeing and hearing the reactions of all the people who walked by and saw that I was painting (lol, I tried to pick a relatively slow, low traffic corner, but still lots of people came by). Composition practice. I saw this house when a biker rode past in front of it and I thought it was charming. But the house is in the middle of an intersection so I did some drive-by shooting of reference photos hoping to capture the perspective. This is an interesting challenge to decide how to crop and what to paint, I definitely won’t be able to whip up a pleinair of this on the spot, I even barely made it digitally.
