Enjolras - apple. it's red.

Grantaire - peaR

Courfeyrac - lychee.

Combeferre - grapes. they fall apart if you pick at them too much.

Bahorel - banana. I've seen things.

Feuilly - orange. his hair is the same colour!

Bousset - plum. his head is as shiny.

Joly - lemon. good medicinal properties.

Musichetta - lime. looks good but also hurts unless you like it? limes are odd.

Jehan - horned melon. so many colours.

Marius - cherries. im not explaining.

Eponine - blueberry. can be mistaken for nightshade, but harmless in the end.

Cosette - nightshade. looks like a blueberry but does end up killing you.

Montparnasse - durian. spiky on the outside but soft on the inside.

Les Amis as stereotypical student union members

Enjolras: is basically the boss BUT HE'S NOT THE BOSS THEY ARE A COMMUNITY OF EQUALS. Still he's the one that gets 1 hour of sleep because he stayed up late to glue posters to various walls around the city risking to be caught and arrested because HE'S OBVIOUSLY DOING THAT WITHOUT A PERMIT

Combeferre: the smiling quiet kid who always gets put in charge of writing the report of the latest meeting

Courfeyrac: the weird kid who anonymously runs the unofficial meme account of the school. Since he keeps making memes about their asshole headmaster he eventually get caught and suspended. He changes the account's username and keeps making memes.

Grantaire: only goes to te meetings to smoke weed with Courfeyrac and Jehan and Enjolras HATES him because he is NOISY and KEEPS INTERRUPTING THE MEETING and WE SHOULDN'T BE SMOKING WEED DURING MEETINGS WE'RE A SERIOUS STUDENT UNION...CAN U PASS ME THAT JOINT?

Jehan: the artsy one. He always has the best ideas. It's just that 7 times out of 10 the ideas are just too ambitious. Or he just forgets to work on them. (Jehan is me)

Boussuet: got suspended because he attacked an antifascist sticker on a print of Botticelli's Venus. On the nipple of Botticelli's Venus to be precise.

Joly: got elected as Student President because he looked like he was the most calm of them all. Oh boi they were wrong.

Feully: he runs the student union's official social media accounts. He once accidentally posted a selfie of himself wearing a Kermit hat on the student union instagram account because he forgot to log out.

Bahorel: the senior. Keeps missing meetings because he's too busy with homework but still goes to every single march. A stressed bean.

Musichetta: gets put in charge of food at the beginning of EVERY SINGLE MEETING. Looks sweet but it's the daughter of a lawyer so SHE FUCKING KNOWS HER RIGHTS.

Marius: the newbie freshman. Knows about 1/4 of what Enjolras says but at this point he's too afraid to ask.

Eponine: the other senior. She basically adopts every newbie. Looks like she could kill you but is a cinnamon roll.

Gavroche: the other newbie. He has a reflex so he kinda becomes the official photographer.

Louis XIV, Bousset’s Political Treatise, and Duc Saint-Simon

Louis the XIV was probably one of the most extravagant kings of his time.

He adored expensive things and compared himself to Apollo the Sun God, one his most favorite things. Today still, he is known as the Sun King.   

In Boussuet’s political treatise, he remarks on who kings are established by God.

Louis the XIV seems to have taken this advice to heart when you look at his reign at the time and his clothing, and especially his palace Versailles. Yet, even though kings are meant to be ordained by God and given that power, Boussuet says they should not regard themselves as masters of that power to use at their pleasure.

In Duc Saint-Simon’s account of The Court of Louis XIV, he claimed that Louis XIV loved nothing more than hearing his own praises, and he delighted in petty details and vanity.

His influence and love for this lifestyle, led his courtiers to live beyond their income and drove him to ruin. It seems to me that Duc Saint-Simon’s account of Louis XIV and his court is exactly everything a God-given king shouldn’t be, according to Bossuet. In any case, Louis the XIV definitely did not exercise his power with humility, that’s for sure. Although even if he was being overly florid, I’m sure no one would dare to challenge him.
