Here a great range of woody evergreens are being considered as a potential replacement for Buxus (box) due to recent pest and disease issues. Several cultivars of Pittosporum tenuifolium (New Zealand pittosporum) are included, this evergreen shrub has slender, dark shoots with rounded, glossy green, leaves. In colder areas the plants may need protection especially from cold, drying winds.
