You took your sweet time coming home from work. Not because you weren’t tired, you were exhausted, actually. But you knew that your place was a mess and the way that you were feeling was going to be made ten times worse when you were reminded of how much you needed to clean. 

You finally make it home though, about an hour after you usually get home. You unlock the door and braced yourself before walking in. When you open the door, you stop in your tracks and just stare at your apartment through the doorway. It was spotless. perfectly clean. You walk in hesitantly, you smell the clean scent of your laundry detergent and you know that your huge pile of dirty clothes are finally being washed. You set your stuff down on the table and hear water from the shower falling down and the soft singing of your boyfriend, Johnny. 

Your heart swells. You had been texting him throughout the day, occasionally telling him how tired you were. You couldn’t believe that he would come over just to do this for you. To make you feel better. But then again, you could believe it. Johnny was the sweetest boyfriend in the entire world. While you wait for Johnny to get out of the shower, your mind wanders to the first time he ever slept over at your place. 

It wasn’t planned, but you two had a long day together and just wanted to sleep. As he was getting into bed, he stopped suddenly and got up and went into your closet. He pulled out a wrinkled white shirt that you had to wear the next day and started to steam out all the wrinkles. 

You were already in bed, watching his every move. You prop yourself up on your elbows, “You don’t have to do that Johnny.”

“I know, but we’re both dead tired and you have to wake up early tomorrow and you might not have time to steam your shirt tomorrow.”

You made sure to give him extra cuddles that night. 

Your train of thought was broken when Johnny stepped out of the bathroom and into the living room, a towel on his hips. “Johnnyyy” You say, tiredly, as you walk over to him and wrap your arms around him. He was still kinda wet, but you didn’t care. “Johnny I love you so much.”

He hugs you back and keeps you there for a moment, knowing that you need to be in his arms a little longer. “I love you too baby.”

You look up at him, wanting to thank him for everything, but not having the right words due to your exhaustion. “I know baby, I’m the best and most perfect boyfriend ever.”

He was joking but you weren’t going to argue with him. He was the best and most perfect boyfriend ever. 

“You smell really nice by the way, like peaches.”

“Yeah I used up the last of you body wash, I hope that’s ok.”

“All of it?? Johnny I needed that for my shower!”

johnny always wants you to be happy. he shows affection by doing anything he can to make you smile, even if it’s super cheesy. johnny listens to you super keenly when you need to rant and he’ll rub your shoulders whenever you’re stressed. johnny calls you every night for hours and both of you usually end up falling asleep while calling. he thinks of you whenever he buys himself a hoodie, picturing what it will look like on you when it eventually becomes yours. johnny looks at you whenever your laughing in a group setting, watching you with a warm smile. attempts to cook your favourite meals when you’ve had a stressful day. he wraps his arms around your shoulder when you stand together and when he hugs you after long time he lifts you off the ground and spins you around.

lee taeyong

taeyong shows affection in the cutest ways when you’re in private. he’ll hug you close to him and wrap his legs with yours, smoothing his hand over your hair softly. taeyong leans his head against your shoulder when he’s tired and he buys you anything he sees that reminds him of you, no matter the price. taeyong buys two of nearly every piece of clothing he purchases because he loves matching with you. he sits beside you with his hand on your knee, and he gently pulls your head to rest on his shoulder. if it’s hot outside, taeyong will hold the handheld fan for you for as long as you need, and if it’s cold he’ll wrap you in his puffer jacket in a warm back hug. taeyong texts you 24/7 to make sure that you’re okay, and if you’re texting at 2am he’ll urge you to sleep quickly.

nakamoto yuta

yuta shows his affection mainly through skinship. his hands are always placed on your body in some way, whether it be on your hip, your shoulder or your thigh. yuta kisses your cheeks whenever he finds something that you do cute, and he never cares who’s watching. he kisses you randomly throughout the day, whenever he walks past you. he loves to spoil you and buys you anything that reminds him of you. he stares at you whenever you’re doing your own thing, admiring you until you look at him. he walks with his arm around your waist at all times, and stays close to you in group settings. he gets up in the middle of the night if you need water or have forgotten something downstairs, no matter how tired he is. yuta shows you funny yet embarrassing photos of his members on his phone to make you laugh because seeing you happy is his favourite thing.

kim doyoung

doyoung is the type to care so much about you that he nags you a little. he always calls you to make sure you’ve eaten and that you’ve slept well. doyoung greets you with a hug everytime he sees you and he often presses kisses to the tip of your nose. doyoung cuddles you whenever you feel upset and he listens to you so well and gives the best advice. he knows what you need even if you can’t find the words to express it. he stays up with you whenever you’re busy through the night and supports everything you do, always wanting to have front row seats to all of your achievements. he will never fall asleep before you do, and he strokes your hair gently to help you doze off. doyoung likes to make sure you’re always prepared, helping you fold and pack your suitcase to remind you of necessities. he takes you out to dinner every night he’s free, and always pays for the meal without fail.

jung jaehyun

jaehyun rests his hand on your thigh whenever he sits beside you. he rubs and presses kisses to your shoulders whenever he can tell that you’re stressed, and back hugs you whenever you are cooking or brushing your teeth. he always wants to know where you are and if you need him to pick you up, he’ll be there in a second. jaehyun runs to the store for you immediately if you ever need anything, and he video calls every night when you’re apart. jaehyun plans the best dates for you, setting up his bed with snacks and pillows to watch your favourite movies. he watches you with a fond smile as you rush around the room trying to get ready, passing you the products you need and showering you in compliments once you’re dressed. jaehyun’s camera roll is full of photos of you eating, laughing or posing cutely when he randomly points his phone at you.

kim jungwoo

jungwoo loves to play with your hands when he’s bored. he mindlessly holds your hand while he’s walking beside you. if it’s cold he grabs your hand and puts it into his pocket to keep you warm. he opens his jacket and wraps it around you in a hug. he texts you all day long about the randomest things, and replies to all of your texts in seconds. he feeds you a bite of anything he eats and purposefully gives you a lot so he can laugh at your full cheeks. jungwoo gently plays with your hair and pushes strands behind your ear if it’s in your face. he always makes sure that you’ve gotten enough sleep and he wraps his legs around you when he sleeps. jungwoo sets his alarms 30 minutes earlier than he needs to so he can have time to cuddle you in the morning, and he presses kisses all over your face to wake you up.

mark lee

mark is the absolute cutest when showing affection. he kisses your forehead whenever he hugs you and he rests his chin on your head for a second longer. mark notices when your glass is empty when you’re out to dinner and fills it without you having to ask. he gives you all of his sweatshirts to wear so he knows that you’re warm and purposefully sizes up so they look bigger on you. mark asks about your family all the time, and he listens while trailing his fingers on your thigh or arm. mark listens to everything you say, even when you think he’s not, and he remembers if you mention wanting to buy something and he’ll buy it for you. he asks you about your favourite songs and makes a playlist of them so he can listen when he misses you. mark calls you every night to remind you to sleep early and he loves to make you laugh by sending you photos with funny filters.

lee haechan

haechan shows his affection through playful skinship. he wraps his entire body around you whenever he sleeps and traps you every morning so you can’t leave the bed. he likes to walk with you in front of him and his arms around your shoulders, even if it makes you both trip over each other. he squishes your cheeks whenever he finds you cute and and he feeds you snacks absentmindedly while you watch movies together. haechan video calls you whenever he has a free moment, putting the camera on his members and telling them to say hi to you. if you text him at any time telling him to come over he’ll be there in two minutes. haechan tries to catch your eye from across the room, giving you a cheeky smile and a wink so he can watch you stifle a laugh.

Printed handouts, pens of different colors, paper clips, books, sticky notes, and many other things can be seen in your disorganized study desk. A usual scene in your one bedroom apartment as the season changes and the weather gets cold because it means the exams just started and you just know that many more assessments will be given in the coming days. 

Getting your not-so-warm cup of tea and taking a little sip, you then check your phone for the time. It was almost 9pm and you’re still not done with the take home exam due the day after. Might be a little early for some to finish this, but you just don’t want this to coincide with a major exam on the same day of its deadline. 

You do some stretching and then look at the overview of your work. “Wow, I am definitely not close to finishing this paper tonight. How long have I been just sitting here and doing this?” You can really give your full attention to tasks and accomplish them as early as possible. You try to keep this kind of time management so you can still have time for yourself before going to bed, but this take-home exam would just not allow it. 

The white noise in your room  was disrupted by your phone as a call came in.

Johnny Suh is calling…..

For someone in a 3-year relationship you have to  admit that his contact name in your phone is a bit bland, and he’s been pestering you about it since the start.

Smiling widely, you answer his call and put it on speaker.

“What can I do for you Mr. John?”

“Wow, no ‘Hi babe, I miss you’ or something like ‘Hi baby, I’m glad you called’? What is happening to society nowadays?”

“Okay, fine. Hi Johnny, I miss you. There, happy?”, you reply dryly just to annoy him a bit.

Johnny is surely the more affectionate one in this relationship. The ways he makes you feel loved, it’s like he took a masterclass for it.

“You didn’t call me baby but okay. I haven’t heard from you the whole day, how are you? Are you very busy because of your upcoming exams?”

You explain to him that you are trying not to stack one assessment over another and that you try your best to finish your other assignments earlier so you have enough time to study for the exams and that you get a good amount of sleep too.

“Okay, I get it. But what were you doing the whole day? You didn’t even spare me a reply.”

It was evident from his voice that he was already pouting by now. 

“I was doing my take-home exam, it’s due on Friday and I have an exam that day. I want to finish it already so I can study for my Chemistry exam without thinking about my other subjects. I’m about 60-65% done with it, I think”

“Okay, at least now I know you were not eaten by your closet monster.” He jokingly said. You can just imagine the big smile he had when he mentioned your closet monster, remembering that you told him about your childhood fear that Monsters Inc. was real. You smile shyly because he remembers the memories you treasure. 

“Well, for me I just finished the varsity meeting and had my dinner there since they gave us salads. Now, I’m on my way to get some coffee. How about you, what did you get for dinner?”

Along with his affectionate side, your boyfriend has that kind of love a mother has.

“Actually I haven’t had dinner, I was ab-”, you were cut-off with a panicked voice.

“It’s already 9pm! Your last meal was around 1pm-ish. You should get enough sustenance, especially now that you're studying so much because of the exams. Having not enough food will make you sick. You being sick will make studying harder and-”

His over-caring side is sometimes annoying because of his never-ending sermons, but you do understand that it's from a place of love and since you go from different universities it's only seldom you can really spend time with him, unlike in highschool where you can have lunches together. 

“Mom, chill. I get it, sorry I got lost doing my school work. Don’t worry after this call, I’ll have something delivered.”

“No, I won’t take that chance. We're going to get dinner.”

Of course you disagreed with what he said because you don’t want him to drive at this hour when he could be resting after his long day. “But John you just had dinner, I’ll just order something later”.

“No buts, I’ll meet you in our place in about 20 minutes tops.”

“Are you sure? I can just eat here in my apartment and you can just go home and rest already.”

“And don’t take the chance to see you and have yourself a little break? I don’t think so. I’ll see you there love.”

As you say your goodbyes and remind him to drive safely, a bigger smile is now plastered on your face. He’s a little stubborn but he's a very sweet guy. Maybe he was just using ‘dinner’ as an additional excuse to see you tonight? Maybe, maybe not. Nonetheless, you feel nothing but loved and cared for. 

You got ready after the call and went straight to the café just below your apartment. This was the place where you and Johnny often celebrate milestones in your relationships since this is where you two first met. Your first encounter with him was in high school, when you were getting some pastry for an afternoon snack and he was ordering coffee and eventually you two started dating. Now, you are attending a university just near your high school alma mater while he chose a university downtown. 

[9:17 pm]

You entered the cafe and there were a handful of students in there, some were studying and some were dining. 

“Hey Y/N! Welcome, what can I get for you?”

The waiter asks as they recognize you.

“I’ll just order a cup of tea for now, I’m also waiting for Johnny”

“Sure, you can take your usual table.”

“Thanks you’re the best.”

Time went by quickly and you just received a message from him saying that he had arrived in the building and was just looking for a parking space. Seconds after, you see him in his after school clothes, and has that sweet smile he always does when he sees you. He approached you with his twinkling eyes and glorious smile. 

“Hi love, did you order already?”, he leaned down a bit to place a short kiss in your forehead,

“Not yet, I was waiting for you.”

He sat down and asked for a menu from one of the waiters and politely said thank you when he was handed it. Both of you made your choices and the waiter wrote it down also noting that your food will be ready in about 10 to 15 minutes.

“So what is your schedule for the rest of the week?”

“I have this take-home exam due on friday, a major exam on friday too, and lastly a discussion forum by friday at 8PM. But no biggie, the discussion forum is gonna be a piece of cake.”

“That’s my smart baby right there.”

“I’m not smart, I just try to do my best in every assessment.”

“Yes you are the most hardworking person I know, but please don’t forget to take care of yourself and have breaks okay? For the times that things get overwhelming, don’t hesitate to call for me because I’ll be there. When you need breaks, I'll always be there to cheer you up. Always. Just for you.”

What he doesn’t know is that just by seeing his smile, you’re already energized and you feel like you can overcome anything.

“I know, thank you for everything Johnny.”

“I love you, I’m here every step of the way.”

“shh, honey, it’s okay,” johnny wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a giant hug. you felt smothered in a good way, the solidity of his chest against your cheek grounding you.

you had been mid panic attack when he called you, sounding so excited about finally getting a night off, and the guilt you felt over ruining that happiness had only made breathing more difficult.

johnny was over in less than five minutes, ready to pull you into his lap and play with your hair until your breathing slowed and your head stopped spinning.

scooping you up in his arms, he carried you to the couch, where he settled you across his legs so you could curl into a little ball up against his chest. he didn’t say much, murmuring gentle words against your temple between kisses, wanting to make sure you weren’t overwhelmed.

“th-thank you,” you whispered against his collarbone what felt like hours later. you were shaking less than before. you could smell the indian food on the counter and johnny’s fabric softener coming from the big blue sweater he was wearing. it felt soft under your cheek.

“no problem, love,” he smiled against the top of your head, running his hand gently up and down your back. “it’s what i’m here for.”

8:12 AM

this morning wasn’t going well for you. you were already late for work and right before you were ready to leave you spilled your coffee all over yourself. you knew your boss would yell at you for showing up looking like a mess (and she was going to be upset at you for being late anyway) so here you were, desperately searching for a clean top.

“you okay, cupcake?” johnny emerged from the bedroom, voice still raspy with sleep. he gave your butt a gentle smack on his way into the kitchen.

“stop it,” you snapped, slapping his hand away from you. you felt frustrated tears spring to your eyes and before you knew it you were crying.

“what? oh my god, baby, no,” johnny panicked slightly, quickly cupping your face and wiping away your tears with his thumbs. “i’m so sorry, sunshine, i didn’t mean to hurt you. i won’t ever do that again, i promise.”

“it’s not even that,” you choked out between sobs. you could feel yourself shaking and you hated it. “you didn’t do anything wrong.”

“well, clearly someone did,” johnny teased gently, smiling at you so affectionately it made your heart hurt. “who do i have to go beat up?”

before you knew it, your whole horrible morning came pouring out of you. johnny just listened, ready to help however he could. he let you borrow one of his shirts (which actually looked really cute and oversized on you and it smelled just like him) and made you a new cup of coffee while you changed (this time in a tumbler with a lid).

“thank you,” you pressed a kiss to johnny’s lips on your way out. “i don’t know what i would do without you.”

“crash and burn probably,” johnny replied lightly, pressing one more kiss to your lips for good luck. “have a good day, sunshine.”
