my take on a BPD FLAG & SYMBOL !!
this was highly inspired by these NPD flags and symbol! my motivation behind was simply that I was yet to find a BPD symbol I liked (aesthetically), and I really loved the NPD symbol, so I wanted a similar design! I also made the flags just to match :3
the flower in the symbol is a moon flower / tropical white morning glory / ipomoea alba. I chose this as it was the most popular flower voted on @bpdflag's poll for flowers that could represent / be a symbol for BPD. I also personally really liked the meaning behind this flower and how it could be a symbol for BPD!
the flowers only open up at night-time / under moonlight, which could be symbolic to pwBPD opening up under attention, love, care, and reassurance (especially from one's FP). when they close up, it can symbolise a pwBPD closing up without the attention and love. they typically open up within a few minutes, which can symbolise rapid BPD mood swings. moonflowers seeds are poisonous to humans, but not life-threatening. when closed up, they resemble a spiral, which can symbolise the spirals of emotions a pwBPD may go through, or spiralling when they don't have support. many articles state that the morning glory flowers can symbolise love, affection, deep relationships, unrequited love, love that is in vain, mortality, renewal, and new beginnings.
