They did 3 seconds a rep. They observed the subject’s trunk muscles and knees to make sure they weren’t cheating on these reps. ⠀ 📍Muscle Activation During the EZ bar curl and the barbell curl, they found that the bicep brachii and brachioradilais muscle had a slightly lower activation compared to the EZ bar curl but it was not significant. ⠀ 📍Overall The concentric phase of the lift had a greater activation in general while the eccentric phase had a lower activation overall. The EZ bar curl was most effective at activating the bicep brachii and brachioradilis. The reason this may be for the high activation could be due to the semiproned grip. ⠀ 📍Eccentric Phase The brachioradilails activation compared between exercises was not significantly different. ⠀ 📍The EZ curl and the barbell curl have very slight differences, so it may just end up being a matter of comfort as to which one you choose. ⠀ 📍One exercise is not necessarily better than the other Let me know in the comments your thoughts! ***THE PALACE OF BRACHIORADIALIS *** . . Pronounced: 💡(BREAK-e-YO-Raid-E-Alice) . . In order for us to ACE it🥇🥇, let's FACE it: most BRUHS want to build mass 🏋️♂️🏋️♂️....[or at least increase in strength], especially in the UPPER body area 💪🏾💪💪🏽. To ensure you have an ARMored up (😅😂😁) resume in regards to your physique, here we have Reverse Grip STRAIGHT Bar Curls (EZ grip is more preferable). What you see 👀 👀 is the forearm being FLEXED at the elbow & the grip is PRONATED (palms down ⬇️⬇️). It's PURPOSE is to keep the elbow STABILIZED when you're performing fast flexion and extension movements. . . ***DO WORK*** . . *Speaking of elbows, keep them by your side the entire set (when performing CURLS, the heavier the WEIGHT is....the more likely your elbows will move) About an INCH of movement is OK.✅✅ . . *Flex your triceps at the ECCentric portion of the exercise (at the bottom), then pull the load back UP ⬆️ near the clavicle area (in other words, curl about 80% CONcentrically which is at the top portion of the exercise).✅✅ . . *Keep your stance in SOFT-KNEE mode and your feet hip width apart (just outside hip-width is fine as well).✅✅ . . *REPEAT and do NOT accept DEFEAT!!! #fitnessmaxima #MaximaMotivation #brachioradialis (at Modoma) https://www.instagram.com/p/Br5t4RkhcXm/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1sy9hto1a6cwr
Episode 28: “Forearm Position and its Effects on Elbow Flexor Activity" The biceps brachii not only flexes the elbow, but also supinates the forearm (aka the radioulnar joint). Thus, when performing a biceps curl with the forearm supinated, you can maximize biceps brachii activation. The brachioradialis not only flexes the elbow, but also serves to pronate AND supinate the forearm (based on initial radioulnar joint position). EMG studies reveal that the brachioradialis demonstrates higher levels of activity when the forearm is in either a neutral or pronated position. The brachialis has the largest physiological cross-sectional area of the elbow flexors. Because it inserts into the ulnar tuberosity, it is UNAFFECTED by forearm position and thus is active during all forms of elbow flexion, regardless of forearm position. One of my favorite ways to simultaneously hit all three primary elbow flexors is shown at the end. Citation: Levangie, Pamela K., and Cynthia C. Norkin. DB seated hammer curls _______________________________ Start in a seated position with back support holding two dumbbells in the neutral position (palms are facing in toward each other). In the bottom position, the hand should be just slightly (a matter of inches) in front of your elbow to maximize tension on the lengthened tissues. You can leverage the elbow just slightly in front of the shoulder to accentuate the effect. Initiate the upward motion my concentrating on using your biceps. Make a strong mind-muscle connection. Curl all the way up and allow the elbows to come forward slightly at the top (arm flexion). This will maximize the contraction for the fibers in the shortened position. Return down slowly and with control, pause very briefly in the bottom and repeat for desired reps. Maintain strict form and really focus on the biceps contraction. Avoid using momentum as best you can except for the last rep or two of the last set or two. #hammercurls #dbcurls #curlsforthegirls #biceps #brachioradialis #anatomy #biomechanics #hypertrophy #kfitpro _______________________________ Kempf Fitness Professional is a holistic training platform that was designed to bring you valuable information and coaching to improve your health, fitness, and overall life quality.
