Bramblebillow - Mediator
Playful, steady paws, good kitsitter
Bio below:
Bramblebillow lost her parents and sister, Sleekchase, fairly early on in life. She found it difficult to connect with most of her clanmates as a result. Instead, she relied on her brother, Beeshade, for companionship and support. However, when Beeshade began to focus more on his new mate, Bramblebillow often found herself alone. She had a few friends, and a handful of crushes throughout her life, but nothing close to the loving family that Beeshade had been able to establish for himself.
As Bramblebillow got older, she began to realize that she was slowing down faster than other warriors her age. She had never suffered a traumatic injury, but her body still erupted with pain at the slightest overexertion. When it was finally decided that she needed to join the elders to save herself from any further suffering, Bramblebillow felt embarrassed at first. But somehow, by sheer coincidence, Beeshade's old injuries sent him to the elders' den as well only a few weeks later. He reassured her that she'd always have a place as his new kits' beloved aunt.
Bramblebillow loved watching her new niece and nephews grow up. She loved entertaining them, listening to their dramatic tales, and looking forward to the kind of cats they'd become. And when Belugakit suddenly expressed a desire to become a mediator, Bramblebillow joined his parents in supporting him.
However, it didn't take long after Belugapaw's apprentice ceremony for him to begin recounting strange stories about his mediator training. She'd known that mediators in the clan had had mixed results in the past, and after Dawndusk and Snipstripe had each passed away after short terms in the role, confidence was definitely low amongst clan members. Now with only Riverreed there to train two rowdy young apprentices, it was only natural that things might spiral out of control.
Even after Belugafleck earned his warrior name, the version of mediation that he recounted to Bramblebillow concerned her. It wasn't that the young cat wasn't trying, he clearly was taking the role very seriously, but he just didn't have enough life experience to balance ideals against reality. And with another cat his age there to bounce wild ideas off of, their approach to mediation quickly devolved into nonsense. After several moons and many conversations with Beeshade and Tumblecreek, she finally decided to become a mediator herself and help Riverreed reign in the two younger toms.
Bramblebillow became a very successful mediator in her last few years. She helped resolve several stubborn conflicts between Marineclan and its neighbors. Despite her pride in these accomplishments, the stress of her new responsibilities took their toll on her health. She was usually quite tired and had to advise her fellow mediators from the comfort of her nest. One last excursion to a neighboring clan proved to be too much for her. She caught an unknown illness, suspected to be yellowcough, and passed away before any medicine cat could properly evaluate her symptoms.
