Choosing a key per day with relevance on a jazz standard I try playing for the day from the real book (2x1), will play scales, arpeggios, string crossings, thirds, chromatics, melodic chords with 7;
1 Kayser étude per day; start 1 Kreutzer étude for advancing every 3 days; Schradieck 1 until it's allegro
Decided on Kandonshkin viola concerto;
Repertoire of the quintet, slang, OSUdG, OSJZ,
Notes
Start working on vibrato again. 65bpm semiquavers. Go on increasing every day.
Schradieck #1 on 75 bpm. Increase speed every day until it's allegro (hopefully). Looking for correct articulation and bow-left hand connection.
Fingers down for starting to speed, especially the fourth finger.
Jazzy: modal scales and chords with 7. Start looking for inversions to play the chords melodically comfortably on the viola.
How do I look for more familiarity in the other 5 modal scales (except I and VI)? Another sense of home. Do I alter some grade, like the minor harmonic alters the 7th grade.
Play variations on rhythm and bow articulation:
Martelé: elbow changes with the string change, on the tip mostly.
Spicatto: center to frog.
Détaché: more movement on the elbow.
Tommorow check OSJZ, Mazas and Kandonshkin. Autumn leaves.
Want to start checking songs by ear. How 'bout changing to try one different per day.
