Silver Kamen, the hero of the eponymous tokusatsu series from 1971 (until he changed into Silver Kamen Giant, as did the series, with episode #11).

The new, updated Silver Kamen (in his two different outfits) from the film BraveStorm (2017).

As much as I wanted to like this film, let me just say that this outfit, and the small cameo role Mitsu Dan has, are the only good things about it.

Bravestorm Now Available In The United States - The Tokusatsu Network

The 2017 film Bravestorm released Monday, April 7th, on DVD and through video on demand services in the US with an English dubbed trailer. In November 2017, Bravestorm released in Japanese theaters. Well, this is some pleasant news and quite the surprise. If you are a fan of Mr. Shu Watanabe, this is a bit of non-Rider toku that he participates in.

Got this from Amazon today! (And I could have bought it at work for about the same price. Oh well.)

Be warned; there is a dub and it's really bad. There's no audio option on the main menu, so you have to switch it during the opening. Of course, if you want to watch the dub for the cringe, it will deliver.

Otherwise, a fun movie. I mean, the effects look twenty years old and it's cheesy as all hell, but fun. Hope that sequel tease at the end does come true. Recommend only to die-hard Toku fanboys and lovers of cheesy, low-budget schlock.

I swear I remember reading that Tsuburaya also made Iron King, am I misremembering?

Iron King was actually produced by Nippon Gendai and Senkosha Productions (the Television Production arm of the Advertising agency Senkosha Company). 

The series does bear a lot of similarities to Tsuburaya’s productions with a transforming hero who has a time limit dressed in red and silver.  

Senkosha Productions were also the group behind Japan’s first TV superhero Moonlight Mask.

As well as Planet Prince, Silver Mask, and Super Robot Red Baron.

Sadly, Senkosha Productions was shut down years ago.  There is a bright spot on the horizon for fans of their heroes though as a new tokusatsu film entitled BraveStorm is set to create new versions of Silver Mask and Super Robot Red Baron!  Here is the trailer:

Of note is that the lead actress in the movie is Chihiro Yamamoto who is currently playing swordswoman Laiha Toba in Ultraman Geed.
