hey have you heard of the brand studio cult? they make accessories that i think maybe could be up your alley, if you're into things like earrings and rings and bags.

i just think your life will be better if you know that someone is out there making bread tag earrings and such.

look at this. it's so. high fashion. i have never had the dough or flamboyance (see: years of internalized misogyny) to rock this kind of stuff but it speaks to the soul. i would wear these now

not with a negative tone at all, now, just sharing my thinky-thoughts, but—these product lines are honestly somewhat against the spirit of how i personally look at bread tabs.

i like collecting them in part *because* they are trash! i like to bring attention to the fact that they're a shitty single-use (reusable but seldom actually reused) plastic product that's hard to recycle and also an uncommon (afaik...?) but potentially very medically serious swallowing hazard. i love it when people collect their tabs and give them to me, but i really wouldn't want to be given a roll of unused ones bought from the factory. i would be okay with the occlupanid going extinct.

this is a kind of trendy, expensive-but-uses-the-poor-aesthetic artsy stuff i have very mixed feelings about because it's very consumerist (the irony of the literal "$3.99" on the $100 handbag lol), but also, like... good art. definitely so in this case. shines a dazzling reinterpreting romantic light onto the mundane ignored things in life, which i think is wonderful.

(and to be clear i don't think these are excessively expensive for a nice manufactured jewelry piece or bag; workers gotta get paid! seems very reasonably priced for what it is. it's just laughably outside of my budget because i'm a poor.)

idk. that's my trademark Overthink Everything lifestyle. i'm going to table that, accept this for what it is and enjoy seeing one of my special interests catered to. kudos to the designer. and thank you very much for sharing ^_^

Hello there, is it possible to sell bread clips/tabs? if so who do I sell it to?

Unfortunately, bread tabs aren’t worth much monetarily. (I think the corporation that makes them probably makes more money by selling the machines that put the tabs on plastic bags than it does by selling the tabs themselves.) There are billions of bread tabs out there, and they’re not useful for much besides their original purpose.

Your best bet is may be recycling. Oftentimes bread tabs are too small to be processed easily by recycling centers, so they can’t take them from curbside recycling bins. You can call your local recycling center and see if they’ll pay you for dropping off bread tabs (and possibly other plastics of the same type, which I *think* is #6 polystyrene). With the disclaimer that I haven’t tried this myself--I keep my bread tabs--they may accept them, but you’re probably going to have to send them in by the pound to make any money that way.

Ebay is another option. People seem to be selling them in lots of 75-500, for a going rate of about $5 or $7 per 100. You can find these listings in the craft supply section. If you decide to go this route, again, it’ll take a lot of bread tabs to make any money, and you have to factor in the costs of seller’s fees, packaging and possibly shipping. This is potentially more profitable per bread tab, but a lot more work.

The only other way I can see is if you can find an artist/crafter who is upcycling them and would be willing to buy them off you directly. That could take a lot of legwork.

Last count totalled 217 bread tabs, and more have been acquired since then. Direct family members continue to assist with gathering, but extended family and partners remain baffled. Full count and catalogue to follow... Like tomorrow, because it’ll take hours.

Fun fact: bread tabs can be found discarded on roadsides, alleyways, and grocery store parking lots as a byproduct of ravenous bread consumption.
