Kaoru was silent, sitting idly in the water, just flicking his tail fin through the surface at lazy intervals. It’s not that he wasn’t listening; he wasn’t sure how to answer. Should he even answer it?
It’s a complicated feeling, more like, and he was afraid that he might say it wrong, and then a misunderstanding would occur. That would be very troublesome to fix.
“I know that.” he finally said, scooping up some seawater into his hands, and then shooting it from his index fingers, as though with a water gun at the horizon. “But, that kinda stuff’s never easy, y’know~?”
“What brought tha~t up though...?”
A weak smile was spread on Kanata lips, taking the last steps to take place by the blond. Not caring if his cloth was soak through, it wasn’t like it would be something new to see the blue Ryuusetai soak from head to toe, so it wouldnøt matter.
“I sea, I sea~.” It was a pun and it was purely on purpose. “I don’t want you to end up as a jellyfish in a turtle shell only to be whipped around in the waves. Like we confirmed once and you got ‘mad’ at me for not sharing my worries and burdens.”
Lifting his hand he poked to the other merfolk cheek. poke, poke, poke
“I am ‘worried’ for you, something seem off. Is the air you breath in wrong? Or maybe you swallowed some sea water there have made your stomach upset? If you want to talk about it I am here for you.”

“Of course, after all, senpai, you’re really important to me- there’s no way I’d miss your birthday.” She winks, she means it too- all the idols meant the world to her, and even if she wasn’t the most open about that fact at times, she wanted him to know he was an important figure in her life but upon seeing him wipe something from his eye, she blinked, surprised.
“They’re all for you and today is all about you,” She tells him, but she does offer him her arm, as though to link them up and show she’d hang around him as much as he’d like. “So, how about you let me spoil you today instead?” After all, she didn’t see a reason why he should return the favour on his birthday.
“But if you wanna hang out another day too, I wouldn’t mind.”
