#Brelo was acquitted of manslaughter in May 2015, but he has been suspended without pay since his indictment.
Brelo reportedly stood on the hood of the vehicle as he fired – shooting 49 shots at the victims – requiring him to actually reload and continue firing at the unarmed couple.
But now, six officers have been fired and six others face suspensions ranging from 21 days to 30 days. The thirteenth retired last year.

It's Saturday afternoon, and the Michael Brelo verdict has just been released. Or, so we think. Typically, after breakfast is morning medication at 7:30, and we're allowed out of our cells. Today, around 8am, a corporal came in and ordered the whole pod to be locked down. At first, we thought it was because of the holiday weekend, and being short staffed. But now we're seeing increased police activity outside our windows, and lunch was served by 3 C.O.'s, accompanied by 2 S.R.T. members, who are reserved for rioting amongst the inmates. When one of the inmates asked if a verdict was released on the Brelo case, they hastily replied "We're not going to discuss it.", and they quickly left. I understand security concerns, and the need for heightened awareness, especially among inmates, but to literally lock up the entire jail all at once? This is already a maximum security facility, and the pod that I'm in is very well behaved. In fact, most mornings the conversations held in the common area are about current events, religion, and self improvement l. I'd like to think the docile nature of my fellow companions speak for themselves. Increased time in our cells and away from things like phone calls and media is only going to cause behavioral problems and lend to low morale. Sadly, this blog post will be delayed, as it is written on paper, and mailed some 3,000 miles away, then typed and posted. This is just an insiders view of the outside world, and a perspective not usually seen by the likes of the free. Sincerely, 'Locked-in-cell-13-for-the-weekend'
