Brevitas
Some months ago, @deadbranch mentioned a "1-Word-Challenge" in one of her posts. Though being just a joke, this idea kept spinning in my head because I find the concept extremely fascinating.
I was wondering how much of a story could actually be told by providing one single word only, how much of a character could be captured.
When I put more thoughts into the idea, I came to the conclusion that you can in fact tell a lot, especially if you carefully choose punctuation and a suitable title.
This is my first one-word story:
Ghost's choice
"No."
With just a subtle change you can also change the direction of thoughts by creating a completely different atmosphere:
Ghost's choice
"No..."
Of course this concept only works if the readers are willing to put some effort into creating their own backstory due to the lack of some more information, but I think it's definitely worth it.
I'm really interested in exploring various ways of perceiving a story - which finally led to this one:
Ghost: The Triptych-Series
Part I: The Beginning
MacTavish.
To be continued.
Part II: Commitment
"Soap?"
To be continued...
Part III: Finality
"Johnny..."
The End
Depending on my mood, I read the topic differently, either being the developing friendship, growing affection and love or everything heading towards Johnny's death...
What I personally had in mind when writing it, though, was the aspect of friendship.
