Bad picture is bad but I had this kombucha yesterday as a treat (it ended up being kinda shitty but I'm 100% certain it's because it was a white tea base with rose, which made the after flavor really weird and flat) and i really liked the bottle :D

Chris Furmage for Brew Dr. Kombucha
Top 5 Best Kombucha brands
This post supposed to be about Bubbletea, but all the Boba drinkers/tapioca lovers will have to wait a little bit more since I need to write about an amazing drink I’ve started to take recently. Since I began to work in Whole Foods, I noticed that a lot of customers purchased bottled colorful drinks called Kombucha (aka ‘The Elixir of Life’). They are fermented drinks that contain million of healthy bacteria that boost your immune system, provide you mental health, help your cardiovascular system, and give you other healthy benefits. There is a variety of brands, so I was very curious about those beverages. After a couple of months of overdrinking and analyzing carefully all the brands, I believe I can make a top 5 list of Kombucha brands I have tried.
5) Humm - The newbies’ brand
Humm was one of my favorite brands at the beginning of this fermented adventure. The name and the juvenile designs caught my attention so I decided to give it a try. This beverage is perfect for people who is starting to drink Kombucha since it has a friendly taste: it’s sweeter than other brands (less than 16g of sugar per bottle, though) and it’s not as carbonated. My favorite flavors are lemon ginger, coconut lime, and blueberry mint.
4) Brew Dr. - Little but powerful
Number four goes to Brew Dr. This one was the first Kombucha brand I tried in my entire existence. I remember I saw my Copywriting and Layout professor drinking a bottle of this brand in class and because of that, my eagerness to know more about those mysterious beverages increased exponentially. Brew Dr’s taste is stronger and it contains less sugar than Humm but it’s still a palatable drink for newbies that don’t want to be newbies. By the way, Brew Dr. has recently legal issues due to the fact that its alcohol content might exceed the level of alcohol for non-alcoholic beverages.
3) Rise - The wild one
One night a friend wanted to get beer but the alcohol store was already closed, so she asked me for a Kombucha brand that Whole Foods sells (it was still open). I recommended her this brand. She didn’t like the taste at all, so she ended up giving me the almost full 1L bottle of the ginger flavor. Yes, kids, Kombucha is not for everyone and Raise’s particular raw and strong taste might be aggressive for some people’s tongue. In my opinion, the stronger the taste, the better.
2) Nineteen 02 - The new kid in town
When Nineteen 02 arrived to Whole Foods, I thought that store was finally going to sell beer. Although I really liked the seriousness of the bottle design, I thought this Canadian brand would disappoint me. Nevertheless, I was surprised by the low content of sugar and the strong taste it has. My favorite flavor is ginger. I will try the Mojito soon.
1) GT’s - The boss
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Kombucha brand of Kombucha brands so far. It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie or an expert, GT’s has a wide range of flavors for everyone. In fact, there are some flavors that cannot be sold to people under 21. Each GT’s bottle contains billions of probiotics and, depending on the flavor, it may contain a good source of vitamins. I prefer the Multi-green that contains spirulina and the original one which has the strongest taste among other flavors.
Haven’t tried Kombucha yet? What are you waiting for? It’s a perfect way to drink something refreshing that benefits your health! ;)
