IM OFFICIALLY DONE POSTING
It was iconic I had too
here*s brian drye from hadestown .live
I'm so glad we had Brian Drye's Instagram takeover because I finally understand Amber's Bony Awards attire.
highlights of hadestown 8/10/19
i’m losing my mind this is the first time i’ve seen the show it’s so good
orpheus is So Soft and he Tries So HardÂ
hermes: you want to go talk to her don’t you
orpheus: yes!!!
hermes: ok but don’t come on too strong
orpheus, shoving to euryidice a paper flower he made: come home with me!!!
eurydice, to hermes: is he. always like this.
hermes: well...................... yeah no he is always like this
during way down hadestown persephone kind of flops over with her head down bc she’s sad she has to go down but like,,, she keeps dancing with her legs,,, but she’s literally bent all the way over,,,,it’s the cutest thing i love amber gray
eurydice really does have a big heart (meeting orpheus makes her kinder mayhaps?) and she tries to save all the other workers when orpheus leads her out
the fates really did have it out for her, they steal her backpack during chant i (i think it’s that song possibly earlier sorry my memory is bad)
i finally see what people are talking about reeve carney can truly bleed on command
patrick’s voice dips below all known octaves
there were a bunch of times when the workers were talking about how sad this life is and the lights point towards the audience bc we are all complicit in capitalism yeah that really had me shaking in my boots
the lighting in general was breathtaking
brian drye (trombone) is INCREDIBLE i was in awe of his playing
after epic iii when persephone and hades dance....it’s literally the sweetest thing i have ever seen, they kinda spin around the stage together and persephone twirls him it’s so cute
eva was out for the matinee which was sad, but jessie shelton filled in and she did NOT disappoint
jessie also did a cool thing in the final “i’m comiiiiinnggg” of wait for me ii, idk what it was but it sounded different than eva’s note?
i think she went higher from the start rather than changing it at the endÂ
like comIIIIIIIIIiiing from than comiiiiiiiIIIIInng
i’m sorry i don’t do music this doesn’t make any sense
andré is the definition of cool and collected we should all be stanning him
he comes out to the stage and just kinda walks around for a bit, touching the workers’ shoulders, unbuttons his suit, looks over the audience, and THEN starts singing
persephone kisses him on the cheek before our lady of the underground and his eyes go really wide and it’s so sweet
he’s 73 and dancing around on that stage may i say again that we should all be stanning him
doubt comes in really had me on the edge of my seat thinking “maybe it will turn out differently” as if i don’t KNOW that it’s 100% guaranteed that he will turn around
it’s a completely dark stage and the fates rise up from the platform with blue smoke and lanterns and it’s so coolÂ
until he turns around then it’s not cool anymore it’s just sad
the choreography in general was really cool!!!!Â
WAIT FOR ME !!!! WAS SO !!! COOL !!!!! THE LIGHTS, THE STAGE, THE SET, THE ACTING, THE SINGING, I LITERALLY LOST IT ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY IN ITS SO COOL
that being sad, it was kinda awesome that act 1 ended with why we build the wall bc the last line was “anybody want a drink” and amber gray is an icon
reeve carney deserved the tony
in conclusion, i am shook you should all go see the show if you’re able toÂ
Let’s show some love to one of Hadestown’s underreported stars
Brian Drye’s trombone
timothy hughes being really tall
brian drye on the trombone, marika hughes on the cello, dana lyn on the violin, ben perowsky on the drums, robinson morse on the base, michael chorney on the guitar and liam robinson on the keysÂ
