I've made posts before about bridal Barbies and friends of Barbie, but there's been so many variations on that theme over the years that even though I've touched on the subject before, it's never been comprehensive and there's always more.

There's been a number of wedding-themed Barbies - designer collabs where Barbie is showing us the latest in runway bridalwear, friends of Barbie getting married, and various where Barbie is in a wedding dress either planning or dreaming of her wedding day. (I say this every time, but yes - Barbie is not officially wed in lore, and likely never will be, but that doesn't mean she can't put the dress on and dream. A little Muriel's Wedding of her, but who am I to judge?)

But not every Barbie wedding set has, well, had a Barbie in it. Yes, I want to talk about wedding fashion packs! The first one was advertised alongside Barbie's original debut.

But this was far from the last.

1982 brought us Wedding of the Year, a series of four fashion packs - a bridal gown, suit, bridesmaid dress and flower girl dress.

It looks from the picture on the back of the box like these are being modeled by Barbie, Ken, PJ and Skipper respectively. I'm not 100% sure and I'm not the best at identifying different characters from this era, so I might be misidentifying.

1989 brought us another version of this release - or at least, it was also called Wedding of the Year and also featured a bride, groom, bridesmaid and flower girl, though their outfits were quite different.

Instead of probably-PJ, we have Kira/Miko standing in as bridesmaid. Skipper's dress isn't labeled on this release, and matches Kira/Miko's, so I'm not sure if she is in fact a flowergirl or if she has been promoted to bridesmaid or junior bridesmaid herself. And I think Ken has put a little more effort in to his suit this time!

I wanted to use this opportunity to talk about some accessory packs as well but this post is already kind of long, so instead this is a little teaser for a follow-up!

I really like the amber and gold mix. I don't know why I haven't made one with amber before. They're imperial tanzanite and amber stones and the necklace is brass. It was made to match a recent customers burnt orange wedding dress.
