a commissioned copy of my pigeon mug
the blue one is the original
pigeons are feral, not wild. they’re survivors despite how hostile most cities and people are to them. pigeons are important to me, I don’t know
I started the blinging on my Wizard umbrella today. It is kind of hard to get a picture of reflecting light, so I may try to take some outdoors in sunlight. There are two shades of blues, plus silver and crystal, also in different sizes. There is an oval glitter piece at the start of the shooting star, but in the pic it blends into the surrounding fabric. There are no yellow rhinestones, so it is reflecting from somewhere.
I already glued down several shisha mirrors, but the glue for them needs 24 hours to cure, so I will start with the stitching around the shisha mirrors next. Still waiting for some sequins and more rhinestones to come in! A lot of this is totally freehand!
Thanks for following my progress! Still a long way to go!

Rapsody wearing custom Grace Jones gown by Saint Jermaine at the 2025 Grammys
'What if it took 13 artisans, 10 days, 2500 cowrie shells, 60 hours of hand sewing, 4 fittings, a chain stitcher, students from a Brooklyn nonprofit, and a Grammy winner to pull this off? Yeah, we wouldn’t believe it either!'
In African traditions, cowrie shells are believed to offer protection from evil.
The National Museum of African American History and Culture notes:
'Knowing that Africans used cowries as charms for protection, historians speculate the cowries may have been brought to America as talismans to resist enslavement.'
Rebecca Ferguson at the Met Gala 2024, wearing custom Thom Browne.
'Gathered cape in black silk moiré with blue moiré lining and black raven appliqués, over a rep stripe high neck dress embroidered with black and white sequins, raffia, lurex, and sequin black ravens and 60,000 blue and green Swarovski crystal florets, with heelless platform saddle boots in black nubuck leather.'
Anna Wintour in bespoke LOEWE at the Met Gala 2024
'Inspired by a circa 1944 evening cape by 20th century designer Charles James and tailoring from the LOEWE Fall Winter 2024 women’s collection, Anna’s tuxedo in wool with a silk satin shawl collar is decorated with floral motifs using hand-dyed feathers, tonal beading, and pearl embroidery. The jacket is paired with a long sleeve dress in bias-cut silk satin.'
'Awakening Flower Bouquet' embroidery inspired by Tulipes Hollandaise fabric by Charles Frederick Worth, 1889, from the Met's archives.
