What I feel not enough people get about shipping/AUs is that it isn’t whats most likely to happen or even whats realistic to the original media. It’s all about the what if?’s and entertainment value of the outcome, sometimes you just want to burn something to see what’ll happen! Do I ship them yes, do I think they have a good/healthy relationship no!

I hate the sanitisation of fandom and the inability to separate consuming/making media from wanting to do those actions in real life. Like I swear this is just the “video games make you violent” thing all over again…

This might be a hot take but I feel like people have lost the concept of what fandom is. I see people talking about how they hate ships, selfshippers, fanfiction etc. yet still claim to be in a fandom. There's a big difference between being a fan of something and being in the fandom; if you actively dislike fandom culture you aren't in a fandom, you're just a fan of that piece of media. Fandom and fandom culture was created on the backs of 'cringe' people and erasing those aspects of fandom is erasing fandom culture in general #BringBackFandom

TLDR: If you aren't ready to partake in the 'cringe' of fandom culture, you aren't in a fandom, you're just a fan of that thing.
