Public Enemy Bring The Noise: possibky the greatest rap song of all tome. This 1987 banger was produ ed by the Bomb Squad. Up to this point rap music production had never taken this layered sampledelic choauic approach. This track combined multiple samples including Its My Thing, Funky Drummer, The Assembly Line by the Commodores l, Get Off Your Ass and Jam by Funkadelic and vocal snippets@of Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan. The vocal approach was unique , ferocious and aggressive. Chuck@called out music critics, Mr. Magic who had shit in the PE, and others. He shouted out Yoko Ono, Anthrax and Eroc B and Rakim created a pop culture collage that ried the musical jigsaw puzzle created by Hank Shocklee, KG, Eric Sadler and himself aka The Bomb Squad. The album this is from It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back turned 30 yesterday and is a milestone for hip hop critically, musically and lyrically. No one had heard a rap band sound this much like a rock band prior. The dissonance and musical dysfunction was un-comfortably funky, hard as nails and spectacular. This was originally from the movie Less Than Zero but was included as the first song on It Takes A Nation. This song blee my lidnoff when I was a young man just getting his footnin the door. It would be the template for future PE sogs and was just a complete game changer. Cant say enought about PE and @mrchuckd_pe he is one of my musical hero’s and I am proud to call him a friend. I had the demos of the first album before it came out and can proudly say I was amongst the first 109 PE fans in the world. The effect this had on white American kids can never be underestimate PE politicized kids and turned a gang of white people on to rap music and this is a FACT.
