1. ToesI can type with my toes. This always freaks people out. Not that I whip it out as a party trick or anything. But really if there's a stronger case for evolution I'd like to see it.
2. ResilienceI have taken so much shit in my life and it's really only caught up to me this year. I have worked so hard to survive and specifically to survive in secret, because so many of the things I've gone through are not things that I know how to talk about or even want to talk about. But I learned how to get through the initial nightmares and how to ask for help on my recovery. I'm not anywhere close to where I want to be, to being a person who is happy most of the time instead of someone who is focusing on survival most of the time, but I know I can get there.
3. StyleI wear mostly Gap, J Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, Land's End, and Eddie Bauer. My roommates tell me I dress like an upper middle class mom from New England. At least I know my look is timeless.
4. StretchmarksI was so self conscious bout my stretchmarks up until I was about 15. I worked at a summer day-camp focusing on teaching kindergartners all about safety (fire, pool, traffic, etc) in the office (aka the only room with air-conditioning) and A mom came in bc she was late for pickup so her daughter was hanging out in the office and she was wearing a tank top and I noticed her stretchmarks on her chest and that's when it kind of clicked for me that my stretchmarks didn't make my body ugly. at the time I only had them on my breasts but now they're on my thighs and my sides and I love them so much. My aunt saw them once and seemed really upset that I had them (she said I was too young) and this guy I used to date asked me how I got the scars below my hips once and then profusely apologized when I told him they were stretchmarks. But other people's reactions only bother me now bc why shouldn't I love them? They're mine!
5. CookingI'm really lazy and I don't cook often and when I do it's only to make things that are super simple, but when I actually get around to it I'm a really good cook. I mostly know how to make comfort foods, and hopefully in 2015 I'll be on my way to mastering pierogi. My mom has a cookbook from my Nanny (as in my grandmother) that has a whole bunch of recipes that she used to make. I'm slowly learning them, and I want to be able to cook them even if i don't eat them (like I will make stuffed peppers but I vastly prefer stuffed cabbage) just bc to me they're what home is.
