i know her…
content: broadway!reader x theodore nott, crushing!theo, inlove!theo, kind of fluff, mentions of hamilton because it’s my baby
“why are we here again?” Theo questioned, glancing at the boys to his left.
“shhh it’s about to start dumbass,” Lorenzo hit his shoulder in an attempt to shut him up.
Theo glanced up at the stage, boredom filling him before the show even got a chance to start.
Theodore Nott had zero interest in learning history after he graduated, so being dragged to a play about it certainly wasn’t his favorite.
“this shit is boring,” Blaise added nonchalantly glancing up at the stage.
“it hasn’t started, idiot.” Lorenzo said, seeming deeply offended by their snarky comments.
“when have you ever been interested in history?” Draco added, his eyes scanning over the beautiful architecture.
Blaise smirked slightly, “Pansy has been bragging about how good it was, maybe he wants to impress her.” he said tauntingly, poking Enzo’s right cheek.
Enzo’s face turned a light shade of pink, as if the mention of Pansy flustered him.
“it’s actually starting now, shut up Blaise.” Lorenzo managed to say, his gaze locked on the large stage.
Theo remained uninterested, tempted to break the cellphone rule by the second song. he threw his head back, looking over slightly to see all of his friends somewhat interested. God this was stupid.
his eyes absentmindedly shut, not to sleep but to get his focus away from the abnormally boring show.
ten minutes into his somewhat slumber a tap on his shoulder interrupted.
without opening his eyes or glancing out, he managed to whisper out a “what?”
“Theo I think that’s the girl you were like obsessed with in high school.” Lorenzo said, chuckling lightly, “I can’t remember her name but look.” he whispered, closer to Theo’s ear this time to get the piercing gazes off of him.
“which one?” Theo shrugged, his eyes remaining shut as if he struggled to care about whoever he was talking about.
Lorenzo rolled his eyes, “the weird theatre kid one, Dorothy in that one trippy play where it felt like everyone was high?”
Theo opened his left eye slightly, peaking at the stage in front of him.
There you were, in a grand blue dress. your eyes were unmistakable. you were here, in a place where he would least expect you — well he probably should’ve expected this.
suddenly his interest shifted to the stage, eye widening. he fixed his posture almost immediately.
Draco looked over, raising an eyebrow at his sudden interest.
“isn’t that her?” Lorenzo questioned, a big teasing smile on his face as he remembered the memories of Theo’s insane crush on her.
it was out of the ordinary for Theo to like her, back then and now. you were beautiful, social, and passionate about everything you loved. theo was the opposite.
he had dated half the girls in your grade by sophomore year, while you hadn’t dated a single person.
“she can sing,” Draco nudged your side, chuckling all throughout “Helpless.”
Theo only cared about your parts, studying your features to make sure it was actually you.
it was when you disappeared off stage for the next act “Say No to This” when he recognized that fast walk anywhere.
sure he was a weird kid in high school, but he wasn’t seen as one. there was never a time he didn’t have a girlfriend, despite being in complete love with a girl he had zero interactions with.
but when it came to gym, you and your stupid walk were engraved into his brain. mattheo always made fun of him for it, he’d automatically recognize you by your walk.
“damn Theo he’s cheating on your dream girl,” Blaise laughed at, pointing up at the stage.
“you aren’t funny,” he complained, his voice serious.
Draco couldn’t help but chuckle, before he could form a sentence, a voice pierced in.
“theatre etiquette is common but you few don’t seem to know,” an older lady chimed in from behind them in a rude tone.
“my father could buy this place, I promise we don’t care about the rules.” Draco laughed out, his usual response slipping out.
“fuck, i’m starting to like that stupid song about cheating,” Draco shrugged.
“well it’s not like it’s our first time watching the play, Theo keeps dragging us back here,” Lorenzo raised a cigarette to his mouth.
they stood outside the theatre, right by the back door. Theo insisted on a smoke break as they discussed ways for him to finally say something to her.
“I thought you got over her when you started dating Daphne?” Blaise questioned, raising an eyebrow as he sat on the concrete, back against the cold brick.
Theo shrugged, ready to reply. the soft creak of the back door caused him to jerk his head over.
there you were.
you’d changed out of the blue gown the stage had last seen you in. now, you were in a long skirt with flowers plastered across the front and back. a simple white tank top covered your torso, bracelets sprinkled across your wrist.
the ooh’s and ahh’s from the right of you caused you to turn your head, shooting them a bright smile.
“i see you guys in the front row a lot,” you said sweetly, as if you deeply appreciated their company.
Draco nudged Theo in the side, whispering in his ear, “don’t throw away your shot or whatever he said,” he joked, looking away.
Theo rolled his eyes in annoyance, clearing his throat and looking up at you, “yeah you uh-you are great.”
he tried to sound nonchalant, but a smile slightly formed on his face when his gaze met yours.
you smiled back, his heart fluttered.
the conversation died for a second, Enzo chimed in in an attempt to save it.
“you’re his favorite character, he really likes your parts,” he winked at Theo signaling for him to continue.
you giggled, soft and genuine. “I recognize you,” you smiled.
Theo tried to seem confused, it visibly was not working.
“we uh went to school together,” he looked away for a moment, glancing down at the cigarettes in his hand.
your eyes lit up, as if remembering exactly where you’d seen him, “oh shit! I remember you,” you snapped trying to remember his name, “you’re Daphne’s ex!”
Lorenzo and Draco let out a loud laugh, a genuine cackle.
Theo’s facial expression shifted, a whiff of disappointment, “not exactly what i’d like to be known for but yeah,” he scratched his neck uncomfortably.
you grabbed a piece of paper out of your skirt pocket, along with a tube of lipgloss.
you used the tip of your lip gloss applicator to scribble something down, “here!” you said sweetly.
you turned to walk off, your walk engraving deeper into his mind.
“you got her number being that awkward? damn bro no one taught me this method,” Blaise complained, scanning the letter.
