If you computer no longer works but you're pretty sure the hard drive is still good all you need is-
A strong hatred of your old computer and a desire to tear it apart, remove the hard drive gently, and recycle the rest properly.
A hard drive reader, one that reads several types will be the most useful. They have no software and are just an adaptor, work with Windows or Mac, plug in to a working computer via a USB, and if the hard drive is good it will be accessible as an external drive.
