================================
Main Story
To my utmost astonishment, Ben somehow got hold of my situation and decided to help me!
I breathed out a sigh of relief; something that I was deprived from when I made my escape.
"I heard about the situation on the news, MD! Now everyone is looking for you!"
"But I knew you couldn't be the one! You helped and saved so many people, and I still owe you one back at that boarding house."
"So I, together with some of your other friends, started the search-and-rescue! Alison and Susan are still at the bridge, and Jack and Matt went to the police station."
"Ya know, just in case you got caught."
So, the group was back together again?
Somehow, that information made me quite uneasy, since the incident on Dire Grove......
"Don't worry, I'm sure they will be ok."
I must have looked worried, as Ben reassured me that everything would be fine.
I nodded my head slowly, while leaning against the seat silently.
I hope they will be....
"So, anyways, I heard about the news on TV. Turns out the person who killed that woman looks just like you."
"Looks, long hair, brown eyes, everything!"
"Cassandra said that it could be a doppelganger, albeit a dangerous one, but I....think it could be a person in disguise."
I raised an eyebrow at him; Since he joined forces with Ms Williams, shouldn't his explanation be more supernaturally-based too?
After all, he wanted to join the Ghost Patrol and pursue supernatural creatures.
"Haha, I mean...looks can be deceiving."
"True."
I took another sip of hot cocoa; a warm welcome from the cold wintry weather, and from keeping a very low profile.
"Now, I think we can start by identifying who wants you dead, Detective."
"Well, that will be very hard. Every enemy wants to see me burn, Ben."
"But surely, someone must have the guts to pull off this gig."
"Hmm...."
We spent the next hours narrowing down the list, and excluding supernatural and deceased enemies.
The doppelganger theory would be shelved aside....for now.
