The meeting room buzzed with silent tension, datapads held or placed in front of bots, all having a similar expression to the other, optics scanning through the offer presented on the blue screen.
Brona, a femme with a copper colored frame with shimmers of gold around the edges of her, spoke her voice holding everyone's attention “This isn't something we should get tangled in. What we are being offered is a life or death situation, this isn't our battle to face.”
Amongst them sat the elders; Sushi, a teal like frame with white lines and white helm-crest was reading off what was written on the blue pad to the cream white mech, with missing optics; Old man, who was nodding and gave a sigh from his vents once she finished.
“As far as this whole…situation goes; I agree with Brona.” There was a moment he paused, thinking of his next words carefully, clearing his voice box then continued “They're asking us to risk our lives for a fight that isn't ours, many of us here have wyrm-bits to care for, partners, friends, we are peaceful bots, fighting would ruin the peace we've managed to maintain for centuries.”
Old man let his words weigh amongst the room and when no one spoke he continued “Until then we will put a pause to this meeting, no one in this room discusses anything further outside of here, we don't want to cause a panic, we want to keep things positive. With the Wyrming beginning tomorrow we want bots in their best mood.”
“Everyone is dismissed.” Sushi announced once Old man finished, her voice full of authority.
The room is full of pedes thudding against the floor in a matter of seconds, some even taking the chance to talk and make plans for the rest of the day.
“Sine, Ghast, Būl, and Tamale, I need you four to stay here.” Sushi calls out in the rush of bots leaving.
Sine a hot pink mech, with heart shaped marks along his frame, and pink visors perked upon hearing his designation and reluctantly stopped himself from leaving his seat; beside him was Ghast, more bulky than the pink mech, and having different shades of gray along his frame.
A cross from them sat Būl, a dark green mech who held a positive energy but was known to be chaotic at times.
“Where's Tamale? Was she not in this meeting?” Sushi looked towards the three and they could hear Old man give a sigh.
“Yeah, she heard her designation and made a run for it.” Būl laughed which earned him a glare from the teal femme, he raised up his servos to say he surrendered “Okay, I'll just keep my intake shut.”
“Alright, we'll just settle for the three of you for now.” Old man pinches the bridge of his nose before resting his servo and gave an irritated groan “I need you three to keep an optic out for the bits, other wyrmbots are unavailable currently and well–”
“We're the only available ones?” Sine huffed, crossing his arms over his chassis
“Are they really the only available bots that I have to work with?” He gestures to the two mechs who were starting to chat and just overall goof off with each other.
“Currently, yes.” The elder deadpans.
“Primus, have mercy…” Sine stands from his seat and leaves the meeting room without a second thought, following behind him was Ghast and Būl who immediately continued on with their conversation that was happening. Once they left the area, Old man leaned back in his seat, processor spinning with uncertainty, worry, or a feeling that made his spark race with fear.
“Try not to stress yourself, Gary” Sushi placed a servo on his shoulder, feeling the shift in his frame as it settled.
“That designation is so old, I could have sworn everyone forgot about it” Old man gave a small smile and it earned him a hum from the teal femme.
“I could never forget the name of a mech who tumbled over me when we first met”
“Oh Primus…” Old man mumbled, hiding his faceplate with his servos “I thought we agreed to never speak of that day ever again!”
“You made that deal with Mother Wyrm, not me silly.”
A groan of despair leaves the mech, embarrassment washing over him and it only makes Sushi laugh before going quiet, contemplating for a moment then speaking “I mean it, try not to think about it till Mother Wyrm returns.”
“I'll try” Old man says as he moves his servos away from his faceplate.
The mech gave a quiet laugh and stood, Sushi’ servo moving from his shoulder and she hooks her arms over his and leads him out the meeting room, it felt comforting for the both of them.
They felt safe near each other.
Sine stood in his wyrmform, hot pink frame warming up in the sun, his tail twitching with a hit of annoyance, letting out a rumble at Būl and Ghast who kept goofing off and bumping into him.
On the third bump he lunges at the two wyrms who were unaware and holds them down, letting out a hiss as they let out a surprised shriek, not getting a chance to speak as Sine snaps out “If you knuckleheads don't start helping me I'll personally strangle you both myself!”
It's an empty threat, everyone knew that but it didn't change how scary the mech was, it had Būl and Ghast nodding immediately. Sine lets out a scoff then walks back to his original spot, basking in the sun. Ghast rolls onto his side before standing, shaking his frame to rid of any dust and nudges Būl with his snout, trying to force the green wyrm up who was currently pouting.
“You know how Sine is, the wyrm takes things seriously but I'll admit he's more snappy than usual.”
“Think it has to do with the meeting today–”
“Shh, keep your voice down, if Old man hears you he's gonna have us do night patrols!” Ghast exclaimed quietly as he looked around. “But yes, it might be due to the meeting today.”
“If you two don't get over here–!”
“Eek! Don't rush us you jerk!”
“Būl stop it, you're going to antagonize him!”
The three take their place at the entrance of the resting grounds, each taking their turn to look inside and count all the wyrm-bits; they're known for sneaking out or trying to sneak out at least, they may have been small but they were smart little menaces. Throughout their shifts of rotating Ghast would make attempts at telling some jokes or tried to get the hot pink mech to goof off but all attempts were either ignored or earned the gray wyrm a few glares and growls.
Then as a final attempt at trying to bring up the mood Ghast decided to ask a question that he hoped would distract Sine for a moment “You think Spider is recharging?”
“He's your wyrm-bit, you should know how he is” Sine remarks, letting the silence fall as the sun starts to set, the sky shifting from a golden orange to a dark purple and blue, little white lights starting to cover the sky.
It's quiet for a moment longer then Sine says “I'm sure he's recharging, though let's not forget he's still getting used to being separated from you.” He then adds “At least now for the entire week you'll be able to check up on him since we're on look out.”
“Are you trying to make me feel better?” Ghast says happily, tail wagging with obvious content but it wasn't exactly the reaction he was hoping for.
Ghast fiend hurt, dramatically looking away from the heart covered mech “I'm hurt by that, know what don't talk to me anymore”
“Keep your voice down–...where's Būl”
Ghast stopped his little act and looked around, slowly standing up and walking around optics scanning for the dark green wyrm who was nowhere to be seen.
“Maybe he's inside?” Ghast suggests, looking back at the hot pink wyrm who was near fuming at this point, the sight of Sine makes Ghast take a few more steps away as he murmurs to himself “Oh Būl you've signed your death sentence”
Sine doesn't say another word and starts walking towards the entrance of the resting grounds, squeezing his frame through the narrow entrance, avoiding any sharp edges that could ruin the paint on his frame. There were faint sounds of his claws tapping against the metal floor, tail scratching along the wall which made him groan internally until the sounds of internal fans whirring filled his audials, those fans spun within the resting ground, pushing cool air inside.
Little beeps and yawns made its way around, soft sounds of little frames pushing against one another for warmth.
Quiet thuds of claws against the floor, a shadow looming over the little bits like ominous mist, blue optic squinting, a hum emitting from his voice box then–with quiet, careful movements, his frame shifts, and moves around a bit better “For once…they're actually sleeping.” Sine spoke then--ZOOM
There was a sudden rush, and a heavy thud and the sound of transforming that caused the other to tense and look at the wyrm-bits that were luckily, still recharging.
“Sine, stop hovering over them like that, they'll think you're a Decepticon trying to eat them.”
Sine stares for a moment longer, frame relaxing and lets out a heavy vent, turning his helm to the other “Don't say that! If they hear that the word will spread like a plague and the next thing we know bots will get curious and if Old man finds out he'll have our helms!”
Ghast only shrugged but made cautious steps backwards. The gray mechs optics scanned the pile of wyrm-bits till they landed on a certain one with red spots, with white and green covering the small frame, looking at peace “Look he's actually recharging!”
“I want a different partner.” The hot pink mech says abruptly and makes his way outside the resting grounds with Ghast following close behind sounding proud “But did you see spider he was actually recharging!”
Their voices fade away and only silence remains, for a few seconds at least, amongst the pile of wyrm-bits, one with horns that were curved down peeks her helm up and announces in an innocent tone “Coast is clear!”
All of them simultaneously jump up and run around, tackling each other, giggling, and doing what they do best.
Looking for a way out the resting grounds.
“Shh! Shh! Okay, let's think this out carefully!”
“Rudolph, I thought you didn't want to be part of this?” A bit questions
“You're always bored, Rudolph.”
“What! That is so not true, tell them it's not true Spider!”
Spider tenses shifting from his wyrmform to his botform, optics wide, red lens glowing in the dim area, blinking a few times at the sudden demand but then giving a mischievous smile “No can do! That would be lying! And my caretakers say it's not good to lie!”
The response earned some laughter that turned into surprise gasp when Rudolph started floating into the air slowly, it was almost comical. Spider quickly took action, grabbing hold of the glint's leg but it wasn't enough to keep the other from floating “Rudolph you're floating! Ornate help me pull him down!”
“I-okay!” Ornate the one who had made the small announcement hurriedly shifts into her botform and grabs hold of Rudolph's other leg “Rudolph don't be upset! Think happy thoughts! Happy thoughts!” Ornate exclaimed, feeling her pedes lift from the ground letting out a surprised gasp.
Rudolph lets out a whimper, closing his optics out of fear which causes the rest to panic and cry out for help. Spider tries to get a better grip so he doesn't fall and Ornate continues to try and calm Rudolph down telling him to think of happy thoughts.
“Rudolph deep vents, remember? Just think how we're going to the Wyrming tomorrow!”
“I'm scared! We're too high up!” Rudolph managed to get out, frame starting to tremble and just as they were about to reach the ceiling of the resting grounds large servos grab hold of Spider and gently pull them down.
“So much for you guys getting some recharge” Ghast holds the three bits in his arms, bringing them some form of comfort as he uses his frame to warm and make them feel safe, nuzzling his little wyrm-bit who gives a giggle. Ornate and Rudolph on the other servo were just glad to be down and not dangling in the air.
Sine gives a hum, shifting to his botform which causes the wyrm-bits to start climbing him; which he really didn't mind, they were curious and wanted to run off whatever energy they had building up “Something tells me we're gonna have to wait until they actually recharge to leave”
Most of the night was spent trying to get the wyrm-bits to recharge and Sine constantly trying to cover their optics as a way to make them rest but it failed horribly as they returned the gesture to him which made him laugh a bit. Ghast could feel the mood change in Sine, he could feel that dark, gloomy feeling from earlier slowly disappear; it filled him with relief, it made him worry but now that it's gone it made him feel glad.
As the rest of the wyrm-bits drift off into a deep recharge, Ghast spoke quietly “Your mood changed”
Sine carefully places Ornate down next to the rest of the wyrm-bits, Ghast for a moment believed the mech was ignoring him until the silence was broken and Sine asked “Is that what you were doing all day, trying to bring up my mood”
Ghast gave a sheepish smile, “Sorta but it obviously wasn't working”
“Y'know I don't mean to be a jerk or aft…just the meeting today made me feel some type of way, everything about it just doesn't sit right with me.” The mech admits, shifting to his wyrmform “This whole war situation…it doesn't…”
“Maybe…” Ghast interrupts, shifting into his wyrmform as well and stands beside the other “it's best to keep yourself distracted, the whole wyrm-bit look out is helping you obviously. This is a good distraction for both of us”
“Hmph, guess you're not wrong about that” Sine muttered, there's no hint of annoyance or anger, it was more like a feeling of appreciation coming from Sine that made Ghast purr with content before squeezing through the narrow path after Sine.
As the night continued on, a large frame with flames emitting from the chassis and from the back almost acting like a tail roamed the streets of Iacon. Cybertronians moving out the way or avoiding the light pink wyrm entirely as they walked, drove, or flew. Mother Wyrm eventually shifts to her botform, lifting her arm slightly to show a light hologram map and a red dot blinking at the center, humming to herself.
“This must be important if I have to be dragged out here to talk, and right before Wyrming day.” She muttered, putting her arm down and continued to walk, earning a few looks of surprise or looks of curiosity.
“This is going to be a long night.”
