he made it home for dinner this time :)
Imagine a fanfic where Buck dies in his early 20s as he's traveling. He dies young and alone. He was still trying to find his place in the world--a home. A family to call his own.
Buck had thrown the name Evan away during his travels, hoping 'Buck' would do better. He should have known better, though.
He sucks in one last breath before letting it out one last time as darkness creeps around his vision. He closes his eyes, staring at the beautiful sky he never got to enjoy more of.
He was alone as he took his last few breaths, but then he felt a woosh, his belly flipping, and agonizing pain.
Then, he suddenly jerks awake. His eyes snap open, and immediately slam shut as the lights burn his eyes. He hears monitors beeping, machines going off, and a swarm of footsteps.
He doesn't realize he's choking and panicking. Nothing is registering much. His mind feels fried.
He passes out again.
This time, when he woke up, he could breathe a bit better. His throat hurts, and his entire body feels achy.
"Hey, Mom, Mama, and Dad will be right back," someone says. It sounded like a boy's voice.
"...Mom...?" he slurs out.
"Yeah," a girl sniffs. "I missed you, Ev."
Buck scrunches his face. He hears a door open, and someone else gasp.
"Oh, man. Everyone's gonna be mad that the moment they step out, he woke up."
A wet chuckle. "Right?"
He feels a hand hold his and lightly squeeze. It's comforting. He's confused. He doesn't know anyone. Buck struggles to say anything, coughing.
"Don't worry. Maddie is here. She stepped out to complain about the pile of dirty sheets in your room and old food trays."
Someone snorts.
"Yeah? Dan is also trying to find more answers about your condition."
Dan? Who is Dan?
Who is Ev?
"Hey, it's okay. We're all here for you. You can go back to sleep."
Buck exhales, before going back under again.
He wakes up a bit more alert than the last. He has strength to open his eyes. The lights are dimmed, thankfully and he's covered in blankets.
He hears a gasp and a chair scoot. Warm hands cradle his face.
He's so confused.
"Oh, baby brother. You don't know how fucking happy we all are to know you're here." Buck glances down and spots a name tag.
Maddie
Buck scrunches his face. Are his parents actually here? He hasn't seen them in a while.
"Are you hurting?"
Buck is uncomfortable but not in any great deal of pain.
"Wh-what happened?" He asks.
"Do you...do you not remember?" Maddie asks quietly. He shook his head. "You went missing. Cops told us they found your remains, but we all knew something was wrong. It wasn't right. Nobody stopped looking."
What?
Buck tries to root through his head, but nothing comes to him.
He knows one thing though. His name is Buck.
A door opens, and a collective gasp makes Buck turn his head. There was a group of people, nobody he recognizes.
"Ev!" A few kids shouted before dashing over.
"Ow, Brooke you stepped on me!"
"Get out of the way, Robby," Brook hisses.
"Give me the bear--I want to hold it, May."
May rolls her eyes. "Here."
"Hey, hey, slow down," a woman chastised. She had a police badge on. In, comes trailing a man and another woman with blonde hair, and then another man with brunette hair.
"Oh baby," the women teared up and walked over to his bedside.
Buck is so confused. He's not entirely sure who all these people are. The confusion must be obvious, the man lingering behind tilts his head with a concerned look on his face.
"Evan?"
Buck has had enough.
"Who is Evan?" He asks. Everyone freezes.
"Shit-" the man with brown hair curses. Maddie turns to the man.
"Daniel?" She asks.
"What's going on? Who are all of you?" Buck asks as he glances around. The kids tear up, as does the adults.
"You don't...It's Danny. Your big brother? Bobby, your dad. Marcy, his ex wife. Athena, his current wife and your adoptive mom."
"T-the kids Brooke, Robby, May and Harry?" Maddie. "You remember me? Your big sister?"
Buck shakes his head. He feels bad when she starts to cry again. "Y-you said I went missing. How long was I missing?"
Maddie glances to the side and tears up.
"You went on a school trip and went missing. It's been ten years--they legally declared you dead."
Buck blinks in shock.
That, is not what he remembers.
But honestly he doesn't remember much. Just the feeling of being alone.
"It's okay. We're all here for you. You're safe now," Maddie promises.
The older man, Bobby, his dad he supposes, walks up. His eyes were red, with eye bag and dark circles.
"Dad...?" He says.
His dad tears up again. "You don’t know how long I've been looking for ya kiddo." His dad carefully runs a hand through his hair.
Buck's eyes droop. The pain radiates in small waves, gradually getting bigger.
He groans in pain.
"Morphine is wearing off," Daniel says. He walks up and fiddles with the IV.
Soon, Buck starts to drift off.
Awww! Look, It’s Bobby and Brooke! Or Adam and Nora (it actually is them).
🥰
The first time May and Harry get to say hello to Brooke and Robert Jr. is the last time they get to say goodbye to Bobby.
I have a hankering for reading about Bobby’s kids this week lol. All Buck, May and on occasion Harry all the time. Bonus points for Robbie and Brooke (the Hidden Marks series comes to mind for them off the top of my head) just saying.
No but OK the last shot of the season is always Family Together Feel Good Moment what if this season it's Hen officially captain and everyone gathering round her and they're so proud. But of course it's bittersweet. And then. In the background. Slightly out of focus. Is that?? Yes. It's the Ghost of Bobby Nash. Close shot on his face as he smiles, then looks down. Brooke. "Ready, Daddy?" They fade out. Smash cut to credits. No survivors.
Also Bobby's daughter Brooke would've turned 20 yesterday. By the way.
bobby nash trending on twt cuz of people wishing him a happy father’s day iktr
