Ever since moving to New York, one of Theo's favourite things to do when they had nothing to do, was take a stroll down the promenade with Roy, their black lab, and sit there overlooking the river for a while. Thinking about their fiancée working across the water always made them smile and reflect on how wonderful their life turned out after everything they had gone through the last few years.

Sitting there with their eyes closed, hand on Roy's leash, they felt the tug that meant that Roy moved, coming over to smell and demand pets from someone walking by so they opened their eyes and sit straight with a chuckle at their dog. "So sorry, he's very social. Roy, come here!

It was the end of Imogen’s first couple of weeks in New York, but more importantly her first few weeks working at a new company, Vera Wang. She’d been attempting to put her own stamp on her designs so that they didn’t just blend into the prior dresses from the brand but it was hard when it was so well established. She kept accidentally pulling in aspects of past lines automatically because that was what made the dresses so quintessentially…well…Vera. Only they’d hired Imogen to bring her own flair to the line now so she wanted to stay true to that. Sitting at the bar in the diner she was sipping on a strawberry milkshake as she sketched out a couple of lines on a bodice, only for the pencil to slip out of her hand and roll off the counter onto the floor. “Oh spitballs…” the brunette muttered to herself, sliding off the stool to retrieve it just as it disappeared under someone else’s chair. “Sorry it’s just - my pencil, it went under…” She gestured vaguely in the direction of said person’s feet. "It fell out my hand and off the counter."

It was going to be one of those days. Amber had known since the moment she'd woken up. First, her alarm hadn't gone off, which meant she'd missed out on her morning walk, then her water appeared to have been shut off out of nowhere, leaving her desperately trying to boil water so she could at least wash before she left the house. ( Thank God she'd showered before bed last night. ) It was on her way from the local coffee shop that things had gone really wrong; with her phone suddenly ringing in the depths of her bag, she'd been busy digging for it when someone slammed straight into her, sending her coffee flying onto the pavement, the contents lost on the tarmac. "Well, of course..." she murmured, eyes closing as she rubbed at her forehead. "What else?"

The young woman was up on a chair, facing the bare tree in the corner of her apartment. A bundle of lights wrapped around newspaper was cradled in her hands. It was effortless how she unraveled some of the lights, handing the strand to the other person who so willingly stepped up to help when her roommates were overtly too busy. "Thanks, by the way. You didn't have to help do all this, ya know." It came from a genuinely warm place. With Christmas being her favorite holiday, she couldn't see herself without a tree.

of  course  he  accidentally  received  two  passionfruit  mango  fruit  tea’s  instead  of  one.  maxxie  was  tempted  to  just  throw  the  other  one  away  –  he  could  never  finish  one  by  himself,  so  he  knew  two  was  out  of  the  question.  yet,  he  couldn’t  help  but  feel  a  bit  shit  to  let  a  perfectly  good,  sealed  passionfruit  mango  fruit  tea  go  to  waste.  approaching  the  bystander  before  him,  he  lifts  up  both  his  drinks,  one  with  a  straw  already  pierced  through  the  seal,  while  the  other  one  was  sealed  shut  still.  “ hello. ”  he  greeted  them,  the  smallest  hint  of  his  accent  poking  through,  his  smile  as  bright  as  the  damn  sun,  his  cheeks  a  soft  shade  of  red  all  thanks  to  the  cold  weather.  “ so  they’ve  given  me  an  extra  passionfruit  mango  fruit  tea  on  accident.  would  you  like  it?  i  can  never  finish  one  on  my  own. ”  he  lifts  up  the  drink.  it  was  sealed  at  the  top  with  the  name  of  the  boba  place,  say  tea  and  smile,  so  the  idea  of  him  doing  anything  to  it  was  out  of  the  question.  “ then  maybe  we  can  have  a  chat  about  how  the  month  of  january  feels  like…  twelve  fucking  years  long,  doesn’t  it? ”

𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐲. cold, yes, but he loved when a new blanket of snow came. so when he walked around the park, he felt tranquil. moments like this, was what jupiter enjoyed the most. hot coffee in hand, a bagel in the other, and walking around the park. but he wasn't alone in that idea. others were also around. walking around, some playing in the snow with their kids, walking their dogs. it was still a busy day at the park even in this cold. it was a cute picture perfect moment. once he finished his bagel, he grabbed his phone to take a few photos, and then he took one nearby, and then the snowball flew past them. " ooh! "

The cafe was rammed, she had no idea why so many people had decided this was the best place to be getting a coffee this morning but it had instantly annoyed her. Isabella just wanted somewhere to sit before she headed to rehearsals and it looked like if she still wanted to stick to that plan she was going to have to share a table with someone. Not ideal. With a petulant roll of her eyes she scanned the room for the person who looked the least like they’d get the least on her nerves, eventually landing on someone and heading towards them. Only able to see them from behind but it would have to do. Tapping a single nail on the top of the table in order to get their attention she pointed towards the chair with a perfectly manicured finger. “This seat is empty, yes?” After all that was the question, if the answer was no she was going sit. Her question wasn’t ‘can I sit here’ because … well she was going to. Although she did add in a smile because...social expectations and all that. The girl wasn't an idiot.

she hadn't even had to get a babysitter. jake had gone to a sleepover at a friend's house, so jo's options had been dateline on the couch with bagel or going out on the town. the more time that passed, the more she was regretting her choice not to just stay home with the dog. she didn't know many people at this party and she'd never been the biggest partier in the first place, but that was just what you did on new year's eve. so she'd dressed up, put on real pants, and headed over to the loft...only to get almost immediately overstimulated. she'd hung around for about an hour, floating from conversation to conversation and repeating the same thing every time (no, by myself, i teach at columbia, a son, he's twelve) before feeling comfortable enough to sneak outside. she'd tried. and she'd probably go back in for the ball drop.

but right now? she needed the cooler air. and she really needed a cigarette. when she reached into her jacket pocket, though, she found nothing but her lighter. her kid must've hidden the pack again. "you have got to be kidding me." she glanced down the sidewalk towards the closest person and, with a sigh, angled her body towards them. "don't suppose i could bum one off of you...?" she was desperate.
