So Max quotes Housman at Morse, referencing the one who got away...what if Max thinks Morse is pining for Jakes and not for Joan? Under this impression, Max risks dropping this Housman line, which he has to know Morse will get because it's *Morse*, thinking that he and Morse are both suffering from a loss or a never-had that they both can't tell anyone else about.

Headcanon accepted.

After a particularly hars case, Max goes to Morse's to check up on him. He has a bit of abscare when he sees him passed out of the couch. Thank God, he's just drunk. Max fixes dinner and a bit of medicine for the soon-to-come headache. His heart warms at the way Morse gives him a tiny smile when he recognizes him.

Is there anything better than not one, not two but three drabbles at the end of the day? I think not. Also, Morse is totally a cat person.

I could see Max talk German. Morse finds it strangely... sensual. Imagining Max whisper filthy things to him while they make love makes him feel all hot and bothered.

I’m p sure Morse speaks German somewhat fluently? Not sure if it’s in the books or Inspector Morse but he’s pen pals with someone from Germany (was it Dresden?) and regularly travels to Bayreuth and the like. So yeah. Brorse roadtrip (because Morse hates flying lol)

Hnngghh, the German language ask made me imagine Morse and Max going to the opera together, both dressed up and nervous, sharing the programme, knees touching while the music is soaring...

Max's heart always skips a beat when he locks eyes with Morse. He sees the beautiful blue eyes light up and a quick, tiny private smile on those divine lips before Morse resumes what he's doing. He's going to be Max's death one of these days.
