✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏿”Los Pobladores del pueblo de Los Angeles” ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏿 • • • Did you know that Los Angeles was built and founded by people of Native American, Black and Spaniard decent? There were 44 founders on Los Angeles’s first census. Of the 44, 26 were of African decent and 16 were Natives or Mestizos. 🔥👏🏽 • • • The city and surrounding area that some of us call home was founded on a union of white, black and brown people. These Mexican colonizers were a diverse group of people. 🌆 • • • The above information does not take into account that the Tongva and other Natives were nearly whipped out during Spanish colonization. The Tongva are still considered original founders of a large part of Southern California including Los Angeles. They did not have an official census and even if they did it would not have lived past the genocide as most of their culture was wiped out with the introduction of western culture and Catholicism. Feel free to share some more info on Tongva history below or send me a DM 💯 • • • #blackpanthers #blackandbrown #blackandbrownunity #brownandblack #brownandblackunity #historyoflosangeles #losangeles #sangabrielmission #tongva #tongvaland #chicanosforblm #blacklivesmatter #brownlivesmatter #nativelivesmatter #historyofcalifornia (at Azusa, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCX1QvOjwc5/?igshid=t07wpw5rf0a1
