Just remembered your Bryce White story, and anted to know if you'd do a DCxDP au of it. I would love to know what kind of spin you'd give it.
Bryce had her hand over her eyes, not bothering to hide the sheer exhaustion in her body.
“Mom?” Damian asked nervously, holding the hand of his twin brother.
“I’m alright,” Bryce sighed as she removed her hand.
“Are you trans to?” Danny asked. Danny Fenton aka Danny Phantom, a cartoon from her past life.
Just like she was in the Batman comics from her past life.
She needed to hit something or eat a lot of sugar.
“No, your mother decided that I was a man, specifically she believed me to be my elder brother who’d hidden himself,” Bryce said bluntly. “I’m Thomas Wayne’s bastard kid.”
“So she lied about your love affair,” Danny nodded with a shrug.
“Talia is a beautiful woman,” Bryce said. “I however have no interest in her.”
“Your interest is in scruffy detectives,” Damian remarked, looking more at ease. Bryce rolled her eyes at her son.
How did john and Bryce start dating and what was the batkids reaction to it.
Well in the I am Batman AU everyone thinks Batman is some sorta Cryptid. The sounds of those who seek vengeance really.
Only Martian Manhunter, Superman and Wonder Woman (she wasn’t revealed as knowing yet) know the truth. But anyway, Constantine shows up and clocks her as a conman though since he is able to tell she has a cryptid on her side (the sentient form of Gotham) but knows she isn’t one.
He fucking adores it and helps her. She figures out he knows and the two begin working closer. Eventually Bryce trusts him enough to reveal herself, and they begin FWB which develops into full on dating.
As for the kids they love that their Mom/Aunt/Mentor/whatever she is to them has a boyfriend. Constantine is you know, Constantine but he isn’t a bad person.
Dick does lead the charge in fucking with him a bit though, helped by Gotham who finds it a grand old time. They like him, but that’s still their Mom/Aunt/Mentor/whatever
Thinking about Batman made me decide to post this. Only part 1 cause I’m at school trying to ignore a minor headache.
Okay, so the AU starts out as a character being reborn in Gotham. She's a Batfam fan who is about thirty-five. Either was a baker or had a farm. Died in a car accident.
Her name is now Bryce White and after her freakout upon gaining awareness at age five, decides her best option is just to keep her head down, then get out of dodge.
She hears about the Wayne Family, Martha and Thomas with their son Thomas JR. which what? (I know he’s OWLMAN but I can’t decide if she would or not either)
Then the mugging happens. Except it's not just Martha and Thomas who die. It’s the kid to which terrifies Bryce.
Still, Bryce here thinks it'll be fine. It should be fine. The whole thing about Batman making his rouges means it's fine, right?
HA. Yeah no. Bryce finds out Alfred Pennyworth has moved into her apartment building, a slightly broken man. In this AU he's been with the Wayne family for around ten years and considered TJ a nephew/sort of son.
Bryce ends up bonding with the old man cause she might look like eight but in reality, she's much older. They both like tea.
Bryce's parents' divorce cause her dad was cheating on her mom. Her dad got primary custody. He's a good dad, but Bryce is shocked cause her first set of parents stayed together until the day she died.
There’s actually a lot more going on though Bryce might not ever figure out. Her mom cheated with Thomas Wayne Sr. Bryce is his kid not the guy who she thinks is her dad. Her mom then blackmails Thomas and it’s a mess. Bryce’s dad loves her though and keeps her safe. Her mom is also a good parent just a shit person. Bryce was ALWAYS this world’s Bruce.
Bryce often goes to her mom's place to stay but her mom is struggling hard cause she'd been a stay-at-home mom and had little skill. Eventually, she does seem to be getting on her feet. Unknown to Bryce, her mom is selling drugs.
Bryce has no idea that her mom's become a drug dealer until one day she goes to visit and discovers her dead body. She reports it to the police but no one really cares. Her dad doesn't either.
Only Alfred really comforts her, and Bryce really hangs out with him more than her dad.
Bryce ends up sixteen when rumours of a crime boss fill the city, one going by the name of Penguin. Cure her mental breakdown because WHAT?! She doesn't tell Alfred a thing, to busy freaking the fuck out.
It's here that it clicks for her- yes, Batman might attract criminals, but many would be created still without him. (Because I hate that it's 'canon' or whatever. Fuck that noise.)
Bryce still doesn't consider anything about why she's there until her dad dies. When he does, and she's suddenly handed off to Alfred as her new guardian, it clicks.
Okay so Dick does not go out until he's at least thirteen, which was the result of a lot of arguing and fighting. But he kept picking the locks, and Bryce gave up after awhile. Alfred finds it funny.
Dick goes by Talon as a 'fuck you' to the Court of Owls and because he really doesn't want to have Robin be tarnished here by being connected to 'all the dead souls'.
Bryce around this time begins to interact with Gordon who isn't commissioner yet. A few videos end up released of their conversations and people assume the guy is BAMF cause he's going up against the Bat.
Through this, they spread the word that the Batman is to full of souls, and parts break off if needed. "Talon is a child but will not stay. We feed and feed each day, he will grow." that sort of thing.
Of course, people are HORRIFIED in this AU a child became an undead monster.
Yet you know, it WORKS. Especially since Dick goes full blown crazy acrobat child and pulls weird stunts and moves like a spider at times. It's kinda funny.
Bryce and Dick have an uneasy relationship at first. She doesn't want to replace his mom, but also wants to be there for him. Dick also struggles. However in this AU Bryce is much easier to communicate with people. Plus, honestly- farm work is great to work out tension.
Which also brings up the farm!
Honestly I think I need an entire post on it's own for the farm. Plus it would include all the batfam anyway...
But yeah. Superman ain't the only farm boy anymore. Dick likes the chickens. The farm sells eggs, and vegetables. I think that also though the townhouse they own is also like one of those little mom and pop stores? I was saying bakery earlier but changed my mind.
It's all cheap and a lot of people go there.
But farm. So, while Bryce does try and talk things out, sometimes the best thing to do is fix a fence/haul hay/clean the coop or just go out and dig a hole.
Dick named all the chickens. Then they ate them and he had a few months of vegetarianism until he decided fuck it, he missed meat.
Also they still have money. Lots of investments.
Oh also before I forget: Dick is like nine when Bryce takes him in, she's 22 when she does. Four years later she's 26 and here is when Barbara joins in.
I'll be real: Jim Gordon does not buy into the whole 'Batman is the horror of Gotham'. Bryce has faceplanted in front of him while still really getting used to it. He knows that's a normal person.
He finds it funny. But thanks to this Barbara knows to. And when a little Talon follows her, goes: fuck this I'll do it to.
She quickly gets into trouble. Batman swoops in, and then well... Bryce knows how it'll go.
The issue is creating an idea for her. Barbara is fifteen, smart and skilled. After some time and thought, they create an idea for her.
Batman gains a new shadow. A wraith, a shrieking woman with a to pale face.
She reacts the worst to dirty cops, and a witness overhears her snarl she'll get them for what they did to HER.
So yes, now all the goons/cops think she's the ghost/souls of people the corrupted cops killed. Which... makes a lot of cops quit out of 'concern she'll target good cops'. Ha, yeah right.
Barbara ends up tutoring 'Dixon White' and it's all fun.
Side note: Barbara is Jim's kid. His wife died, they had no other children cause I'll be real that's just to much to include EVERYTHING there.
I... I feel like everything with the Justice League is to much to fit here because I have this plot line for Batman, and I'm following it and... yeah. Part 4 will come soon.
Bryce now knows she's gotta be Batman. So she sits Alfred down and explains EVERYTHING first. Doesn't leave anything out.
Alfred listens, and then agrees to help. Because Alfred lost his family. In this AU he doesn't have a daughter, he's an old soldier who became a butler in the hopes of finding purpose. He lost it. Now he has Bryce who wants to take a mantel Bruce would have taken.
It's destiny.
Money is an issue though, plus where to build a base. Bryce's dad left a good chunk of cash and Alfred has a good portion of the Wayne fortune but it's not limitless. So they plot. Bryce has partial memories of her world which was further ahead timeline wise, and knows where to invest because of it. They quickly do so as Bryce throws herself into training with Alfred plus hunting down possible teachers around the world.
She turns eighteen and takes five years traveling and training. During this time their investments grow, they get a lot of cash from buying and selling, while Alfred hunts for their base.
Which is where my next thing is: bakery or farm.
If they two choose a bakery, they would want something like a townhouse where the bottom is the bakery and the top is their roost. It's in the city, easy to get to crime and find a safe spot.
On the other hand, a farm has much more room, can be more secret and would be somewhere no one would expect.
... how close can farms be to cities.
I just spent an hour looking this up and am reminded I am trained in CRIMINAL law, not this. But as long as it has five acres we should be good...
Fuck it. They have a farm not to far from the city plus a townhouse in the city they use as a remote ops center.
Bryce totally can't wait to get her hands on teleportation tech.
Townhouse is repurposed into a trendy grocery store they sell produce from. They have chickens, eggs, cows and more at the farm.
Alfred totally runs the store and ends up acting like Bryce's butler cause she will be like Bruce, mindlessly devoted to one thing. Alfred has no idea how to care for anyone not in a butler way.
Bryce upon her return to start the farm is weirded out.
Okay but back to that. Her return has her starting the farm and opening the store. While doing so, she's doing recon in the city. Penguin is Penguin, so far the only 'rouge' she can find. Lots of other crime though.
Bryce has decided on what she's going to do to. She's going to be the Batman. And she's going to have fun with it to.
Bryce in her travels has decided she's going to hide her bio sex. Mostly cause it adds a layer of mystery, as a homage and because she does know people will be gross about her.
But she wants to lean into Cryptid and creepyness. So she ends up going with a full facemask, white eyes and acts creepy as hell. Balancing on uneven ledges, figuring out how to ninja in and out of sight. Developing claws she can use to scale things, voice scrambler to fuck with people by sounding inhuman. A lot of this was done in training around the world. How she met these people? Frankly, Bryce doesn't know but she ends up making friends who introduce her and they train her.
Years later she learns Alfred is really well connected. it's wild.
Batman is a myth in Gotham. Criminals begin to be taken out by an unseen monster who sweeps out of the darkness. Evidence is left with them on police stations, corrupt cops are exposed to the public, some really nasty people get a scratch on their cheek...
Then the Batman takes on Penguin. It's easier then Bryce expected but she takes him down.
This ties into why she's there and why she is finding it so easy to be Batman. Which I'm either leaning towards: Gotham is an eldritch entity who has reached out to help Bryce be Batman, or Bryce has innate magic she's unaware of.
But anyway, Bryce spreads rumours about Batman, takes down villains and is in general terrifying as fuck. Lots of drama with magically appearing places and looming. Of course, even with Penguin temporarily taken down (money talks) people don't really believe in Batman.
Not until the Bat appears at a circus, saving a couple from falling to their deaths. There, the Bat is seen in light for the first time.
It's also where Bryce makes a few moves. A huge speech about being the soul of every dead person in Gotham who never got justice, the pain and suffering of victims, eldritch horror stuff. Then outright makes a threat about the Court of the Owls because here, Bryce has been gathering lots of info on them.
Bryce thinks she's saved Dick. Sadly, she hasn't as the Court decided to prove they can't be stopped and tries to take him. His dad and mom both fight for their son, but perish and Dick is chased by the Court. Batman needs to swoop in to save him.
Bryce really hates herself here. But she also forms a plan with Dick.
Richard Grayson is seen running from the Talon right off into the water of the harbour after being struck by a knife. Batman is seen screaming and trying to save him.
She doesn't, and then turns on the Talon, taking him down. It's here Bryce learns that there is more going on for her then just skill. But she focuses on Dick first.
The Court is torn apart, just as videos of Batman hissing at shadows, telling a figure to "come back as one. Dead children shouldn't fight". Rumours spread, but on big one is popular: Richard Grayson's soul joined the souls making up Batman, but it was to much for Batman so part of them split off to make a new horror to stalk the night.
Meanwhile, Bryce White adopts a little boy named Dixon, affectionately called Dick.
now, someone brought up Selina in this AU. And I had to sit down to think about it.
Bryce is in fact bisexual. And Selina is to.
HOWEVER- in this AU, Selina is unaware Batman is human and not someone she can seduce. So that part of the relationship would never actually develop.
So... I am sad to say there is no BatCat in this AU.
And no SuperBat either given I don't like SuperBat. Bryce just had a one night stand with him. That's it.
He does remember her, mostly cause as an alien he has to be hyper aware of people he interacted with.
So meeting her is a little awkward when he decides to speak with Connor a few months after she's taken him in.
He goes to the farm to met with Connor, and finds that a few of the Young Justice members are there to hang out.
(None know who they are, they just think meeting with Connor is a good idea and that Bryce is trustworthy if Batman likes her.)
J'onn is there to, cause he and Bryce are BFFs.
I'm more familiar with the cartoon Young Justice, so I'm here to say that the relationship with Miss Martian never happens with Connor as Bryce is fully in favour of having Connor like learn to be a real boy before girls/boys/any relationship happens.
Also, Miss Martian in the cartoon is a bit to happy with brainwashing. In this AU, Bryce nips it in the bud. J'onn agrees.
But back to Clark and Connor bonding. they don't end up father/son but more brothers. It's actually easy to like arrange it to, since Clark is known to be adopted anyways. So, brothers.
Ma and Pa Kent are happy to meet Connor and are happy he's being raised on a farm to.
With Clark visiting, Bryce becomes closer to him to. Eventually, when Connor makes noises about being a hero, Bryce reveals her identity to Clark.
He's upset. He feels as if she doesn't trust him, isn't happy she hid this for so long. He feels cheated.
He also feels violated she slept with him while knowing who he was. She in turn throws his public dating of Lois as Superman in his face. It's messy.
They do make up after a month but it's a bit touchy for a while.
No matter, Bryce finds herself followed by a teen girl who doesn't talk. That's more important then Superman to her.
Okay, so Tim Drake is being trained by the LOA.
I mentioned before they only know Batman is human. Due to this, they had to make assumptions. One such is that Batman is in fact either a) a member of the Court of the Owls who went rouge or B) Thomas Wayne Jr. who survived the mugging but hid for various reasons.
So they try and get it out of Tim while training him, but the brain damage is pretty bad. So they dunk him in the Pit. Both Ras and Talia do because Ras is very curious about the Bat while Talia is a little in love.
So TIm get dunked, remembers and keeps being trained. He keeps his mouth shut to.
He then meets a little girl who has been pushed aside by her mother and grandfather for not being the 'heir of the Bat' they wanted. Or well, it looks like a girl.
Said child goes to the boy whom apparently recieved training from the Bat.
Nature hates a vaccum.
And the Bat will get the two sons she would always have.
