“Bolt” is an often overlooked classic Disney movie that holds a lot of heart and charm.
Bolt is a dog who doesn’t know he’s part of a television show. His whole life, the people around him kept up the facade that he has superpowers in order to get his most genuine performance. When the ratings start dropping, the network advises that the show should be less predictable. When his owner, Penny, gets ‘captured’ by the evil Green-Eyed Man, Bolt accidentally gets shipped to New York. He must find his way across the country to reunite with his owner. With the help of an alley cat named, Mittens, and a hamster named, Rhino, he just might do the impossible.
I remember watching this film in elementary school and absolutely loving it. For a while, it was my favorite movie of all time. I think the premise is so ingenious. Having a dog believe he’s an actual super dog, but actually being a part of a television show is so weird that it just works. It works more than it should. I really don’t have anything negative to say about this. Maybe the story is a bit predictable, but since it’s told well, I don’t think it’s that much of a problem. The soundtrack is actually another thing that’s overlooked in an already overlooked movie. It’s really good. It has this theme that invokes so many strong emotions. It has a country song that has me singing along every time I hear it. If you want a nice, easy-going, family film, definitely check this one out.
