The mission was simple. The Asset was to take out Doctor Harold Simon. The Doctor had worked in close to contact with Hydra. The Doctor had betrayed Hydra by telling an informant of their plans. The Asset had killed the informant. Now the Asset is to kill the Doctor. The doors of the black van open into a dark alley. He is told to climb the ladder and set up his sniper and take the Doctor out while he’s getting afternoon coffee. The Asset does what he is told. He scales the fire escape to the roof. The roof is hot, the sun scorches the leather that sticks to his skin. The Asset likes the sun over the Chamber. The Chamber is too cold. He unpacks his bag -- first tripod that holds his sniper, then he loads the sniper and lays out on the hot roof. He waits. He watches. The Asset watches through the scope. Man. Woman. Man. Woman. Child. Child. Woman. Man... man? The frame is slender -- small, almost childlike but the features belong to a man. The hair is sandy, warm. The Asset likes the warm. The Asset likes the man. The sudden realization of like -- need. The Asset needs this man. He does not understand the need. He’s not sure if this is a need but it is a feeling. The Asset is not allowed feelings. The Asset has the feelings taken from him when he gets them. He does not want this need taken away. The Asset is supposed to keep his sniper still but he follows the man instead. He follows the man until the man turns the corner and the Asset does not like that the man is gone. But the Asset has to return to position. It doesn’t take long for the Doctor to appear. The Asset waits until the barista is out of the line of fire and pulls the trigger. A handler comes to watch over him as he packs up his set up. The handler guides the Asset down the ladder and the van is slowly approaching. After the mission always comes the erasure. The Asset thinks of the sandy-haired man. The Asset thinks of the feelings. He does not want to be erased. He wants the man. He waits until he is in the van, the Asset kills them all.

That was exactly 42 days ago.

Since then, the Asset has located the sandy-haired man, his new target. He has found out many things about his target. His name is either Rogers Steve or Steve Rogers. The target often struggles to breathe and has a matching cough. The target fights often and loses more often. The target has a music player that is on often. The target draws often. The target has very bad locks on his windows. The target has a routine. The Asset has learned the routine and has been following in his footsteps. The Asset’s favorite part of the routine is when the target sleeps. The Asset is able to stand watch over the man that gives him feelings and know that Hydra will not come to take away his target.

The Asset watches now, mask on his face. He watches closely, face peering down close as he studies the target’s face. The target has freckles and a scar on his nose. The Asset wishes to touch, he does not. He is not allowed. So instead the he stands watch looming in the dark like the ghost he is.

I can't wait to have fun in Europe with my friends :-) I just wish conway was on this tour. I really miss him. Like forreal miss him. I want to friend him so bad. Not because he's a bad seed but you know sometimes when you see someone and meet someone and you just think "oh yes. You. You work. We work. We will work." And I feel he feels the same way. I think he genuinely likes me. We've talked quite a bit. Argh if only I had been braver.
