Fyozai Tidbits

"Like Dazai, he [Fyodor] has excellent skills in capturing a person’s heart, manipulating them to do what he wants."

"While he [Dazai] is always covered in bandages because of being a suicidal maniac, another reason is that of the injuries he got during battles." "He [Fyodor] appears to have a habit of biting the tip of his thumbs, making them bleed. According to him, he possesses a weak anemic constitution, in other words, anemia."

// More of my personal tidbit but like Dazai, Fyodor does a lot of things... for entertainment. Not because he actually had a serious goal. This occurred many times. A further reason why Dazai is such a delight to Fyodor. Dazai allows Fyodor to have fun (I don't have the quote right now, but Fyodor stated it has been so long since he could just have fun around the prison arc) and Fyodor allows Dazai to be human (this comes from Asagiri's expo interview). Nevertheless, they both agree they are two peas in a pod, so they get to have both from each other at the end of the day. So potent, the only thing stopping them from a full embrace is their goals conflicting with one another's entirety throughout the main story.

Interviewer: What are your strengths and weaknesses? Dazai: "I only have strengths."

Interviewer: What are your strengths and weaknesses? Fyodor: "My strength is that I have a heart to wish world peace. My weakness is my low blood pressure."

Welcome, newcomer! Maybe you've just arrived in the city, maybe you've watched from afar for a while, unsure if you can or should join in.

Let me tell you something: YOU CAN! And I'm here to help you figure out who you are in this city!

And hey... between you and me? Sometimes even I have no idea who I really am. But that's okay. Let's change that together, alright? After all, getting to know your character is a bit like getting to know yourself. One step at a time, one stat point at a time.

Don't worry, whether you come from pen & paper roots (hello fellow fossils) or grew up with computer games: Creating your OC can be just as fun as playing them.

Here's a character sheet to get your ideas flowing:

• BASIC STATS

NAME: Full name, alias or code name. AGE: Date of birth or approximate age SPECIES: Is your OC a human, a vampire, an animal? GENDER: Optional, but helpful for interaction. AFFILIATION: ADA? Port Mafia?* Guild? Independent? Government? Undecided? OCCUPATION: What do they do all day? (Barista? Assassin? Librarian by day, vigilante by night?) LIVING SITUATION: Do they have a place in the city? Want to be added to the map?

• APPEARANCE

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Hair, eyes, posture, vibe, outfit (or just drop a pic* if that’s easier).

• PERSONALITY & TRAITS

DESCRIPTION: A few sentences on who they are. Are they loud, stoic, chaotic neutral? CORE TRAITS: Like, are they loyal, impulsive, cold, charming, awkward? STRENGTHS: Emotional intelligence? Combat skills? Money? Intimidation factor? WEAKNESSES: Bad at communication? Trust issues? Terrible cook? Always tired? GOALS: What do they want to achieve in their life?

• SPECIAL ABILITIES (Optional)

ABILITY NAME: Only if they have one; like BSD-style abilities or supernatural elements. EFFECT: What does the ability do? SIDE EFFECTS / COST: Weaknesses of the ability, if any (for example Akutagawa needs clothing to use Rashomon).

• OPTIONAL FUN ADD-ONS

VOICE HEADCANON: What kind of voice do they have? (Raspy? Gentle? Deep?) THEME SONG: Which song describes your character the best? QUOTE: For example: "I don't believe in fate. I believe in loaded guns and sharp timing." FUN FACT / QUIRK: For example: "has a pigeon friend", "collects expired coupons", "afraid of dolphins" RELATIONSHIP: Current relationships / connections (or open for plotting)

Fyozai - Old Asagiri Interview

// I've been lazy but I mentioned the tidbits from this interview before. Still, I will post it regardless.

Interviewer: Bungo Stray Dogs does a wonderful job of pairing up unlikely characters and making those unexpected duos delightful and charming. For example, Ranpo and Poe, Dazai and Fyodor. Did you intentionally pair together these characters or was it a happy accident guided by the plot? Are there any characters you want to pair together in the future?

Asagiri: I use both methods. For example, Dazai and Chuya – they really don’t get along. They’re complete opposites. As for Ranpo and Poe, you see that there is that similarity with their names ending in that sound “po.” I took that as inspiration to pair them up and make the two of them have a deeper relationship.

As for the relationship between Dazai and Fyodor or Fukuzawa and Mori, they are the drivers of the story. They make sure that the story progresses and moves forward. That is their role. As for the future, the characters that I do want to pair up in the story – as a rivalry or something – would be Jono and Tetcho.

// This is also why I knew nothing would happen to Fyodor because until Fyodor's story unravels (+ we have YET to see Fyozai's first time!), it doesn't make sense. Fyozai drive the story (+ Fukumori).
