Nostalgic memories start to flood in. Playing hide and seek, chasing Edgar around the park, taking turns on the slide, making up stories with Edgar as you bob and weave around the playground. Playing until the sun begins to set, protesting when your parents come to take you home for dinner, wanting to spend more time with Edgar. Inviting Edgar over to eat with you 9 times out of 10 anyway.
"Um. You like it?" Edgar asks, shyly hugging you back.
"I love it." You grin, squeezing him until he pats your back anxiously for air.
"Good- Good to hear." Edgar wheezes out once you let him go.

- i think affiliation wise you could fit lots of things!! you're definitely smart enough to be a detective in the ADA, but if you wanted to be closer to your match you could also probably make it into the DOA aswell!

Hear me out on the teasing. I know Poe's generally a shy person, but like.. you know how he acts with Ranpo? Imagine that, but way more.
At the very beginning of your relationship, he was definitely more nervous though. He'd always get flustered when you teased him. But he adjusted pretty quickly!
Now he quips back with his own teasing whenever he can. It's never mean-spirited, of course. Usually by the end you both end up giggling.. or pouting.
He's an artistic guy himself! He appreciates all kinds of art, though obviously writing is his forte.
He likes to just watch you while you paint. He doesn't say a word, just watches in silence as you paint the canvas in beautiful colours.
Karl sometimes joins in, though Poe keeps a close eye on him. He wouldn't want his little friend to disturb you while you're painting! So, he sits him down on his shoulder or holds him in his arms to make sure he doesn't escape and cause a mess for you.
He doesn't mind your shyness at all. Why would he? He's even worse in that aspect, after all.
He doesn't like new people. He doesn't like socialising. He doesn't like crowded spaces.
So if you share those traits he'll be relieved. Though he has to admit, if you asked him to, he would be willing to be a little more outgoing.. it would be very difficult, but just for you, he'd try.
Again, he's similar to you in the way he opens up much more after getting comfortable with someone. Thus, he recognizes that you fully trust him once he notices you starting to share random tidbits of info about yourself with him, but not anyone else. He was really touched by that!
If you feel like you need to talk, ramble, vent, anything, he's there to listen. One of the best listeners, he'll sit quietly and only chime in if he knows you want him to. Also, strangely good at comforting, despite how nervous he is about it.
Your touchiness was probably a lot for him at first. It's not that he doesn't like it! It's just, being a lonely person, he never really received any physical affection. It's odd. But after a bit, he finds that he doesn't mind it.
Phone calls make him really nervous. Pre-relationship he was afraid it would annoy you that he never calls or texts first, but it makes him feel better that you prefer face-to-face.
Whenever you hugged him unprompted, he used to yelp at first. "At least warn me when you jump me like that!" He'd tell you.
Now he just melts into your touch. If he's having a particularly bad day he can be clingy and just ask you to hold him or cuddle. The man just needs to relax.
He likes being the little spoon. Doesn't care that you're shorter than him. He'll rest his head on your chest and close his eyes, letting you play with his hair or plant kisses on him. Sometimes Karl joins you as well, squeezing himself between the two of you.
Holding hands is his favourite though. It's simple, but effective. He loves caressing your hand, entwining his fingers with yours, squeezing it when he's feeling down.
He isn't a big fan of PDA, so he'd ask you to tone the touchiness down just a tad when you're out somewhere (luckily, he doesn't like to go out much!). He doesn't mind quick hugs, holding hands or small pecks coming from you, but he's way less likely to reciprocate if he knows other people are around.
He adores that you're into reading and writing. Perfect opportunity for him to boast about the novels he's written so far. Though he's careful not to accidentally activate his ability on you and trap you, so just... Be cautious about those murder mysteries he's writing.
He always shows you how he's progressing if he's currently writing something. He values your opinion, so if you have anything to say on the matter he's all ears!
"Hey, Y/N.. Ranpo-san said this dialogue I wrote for my book was too unrealistic. What do you think?"
He may or may not write about you. Sometimes more subtly, sometimes.. not so much. But he always pretends it's nothing if you call him out about it.
"Uhm, Poe, I'm just wondering.. the main character of your new novel has the same name as me."
"Oh! Uh.. they do, huh?"
"Their love interest is also named Edgar."
Ranpo teases him about it basically being fanfiction at that point and he's very defensive about it.
"It's NOT fanfiction! You think I'd stoop to such a level? Please."
Hearing about your ambitions to write a book one day, he immediately starts to teach you everything he knows. Fair warning, he's not a very good teacher.
That is probably because even he doesn't know what he's doing when writing. The techniques just come effortlessly, so he can't quite comprehend how to do it.
But he's trying his best!
He doesn't mind your mood swings. In truth, he's prone to them too. But if it gets particularly bad, he's the first to come and help you deal with them.
He's known you for a while. He recognizes signs of when you're feeling irritated. And when he notices, he's quick to pull you out of the situation before you start fist-fighting with the person who's making you feel that way.
Again - artsy guy. Saxophone? Color guard? He's all for it.
He loves hearing you play. Though he was very embarrassed about it before you started dating. He'd just put his ear against the door to your room and listen without you knowing. A little weird, looking back on it..
He insists you play a tune for Karl every night because 'it helps him fall asleep'. Which.. isn't technically a lie, but the little guy could fall asleep in the middle of a warzone, so it doesn't say much. But it's the perfect excuse to hear you play!
Color guard is very interesting to him. Watching your performances captivates him. No matter how many people there are besides you, his focus is always fully on you.
Loud noises are not a problem when dating Poe. The only time he raises his voice is when he's trying to boast about his writing, but he knows that you don't appreciate that so he keeps it down for you.
Not the boasting, of course. You're his partner, of course you're the first one he goes to to brag! If you let him, that is.
Valentine's Day is today, which you'd think would be a good thing.
Thing is.. you're Poe's first partner. He does not have any experience in romance. He writes murder mysteries, not romance novels!!
Safe to say, he was scrambling for ideas about what to do.
"Get 'em some sweets and chocolate, that always works!"

"U-Um.. flowers, maybe?"
All that advice sounded well and good, but.. would you actually like that? He didn't want to ruin Valentine's by getting you gifts you didn't even enjoy.
But then, he started thinking about things you told him a few days ago.
"Oh, this is beautiful.. poems are so romantic, don't you think?"
"Some flowers wouldn't hurt to have in here."
You were dropping hints because you knew he'd be indecisive and nervous. Thank god for that.
And so, he rushed to get you a big bouquet of your favourite flowers, your favourite kind of chocolate, then got to writing.
But then came the time to actually give it to you.
You stood before him, looking at him through an expectant gaze. "So.. what is it that you want to show me, Poe?"
He took a deep breath and pushed all his gifts into your hands. His head was turned down onto the floor instead of your way, and he fidgeted with his hands.
You were quiet for a moment too long, which was enough for him to think you didn't like it. So, he turned and was about to rush into his office, before he felt your hand gently grabbing his.
"Where are you going, Poe? This is lovely."
That made his heart skip a beat. "You really think so?"
"Of course!" You leaned up to plant a kiss on his cheek. "I love it."
His cheeks flushed and his lips curved into a small smile. "Ah, that's good.." he looked back at you.
"I love you, Poe."
Your smile made him feel such happiness. You looked so pretty, like a meadow full of blooming sunflowers.
"I love you too."
I considered Dazai as another option but uh. Poe stuck more in the end.

- The thing he appreciates firstly is how authentic you are, how well you know yourself, and how you're not moved by conformity. He admires that as he's tired of reading into people's actions and intentions. However, it doesn't mean that he trusts you initially.
- At first, he's cautious with how close he gets because it seems like you get him and he knows that leads to something complicated. He teases about you psychoanalyzing him, even if you do it or not, and how you'll only get disturbed by what you might find out.
- Seeing how you're unfazed by his casual mockery and warnings, he finds himself feeling grateful whenever you hang out, even texting you more often (not to let you know that he thinks of you and misses you but to bluntly ask you are so he can tag along).
- Believe it or not, once Toya accepts his feelings for you, he slowly starts to put your needs first. It's very subtle though. The most noticeable thing is him getting a little bit more protective of you.

- You won't get him to open up fast, it's a very slow burn with Akutagawa. But in time, you notice how your conversations get deeper. He enjoys those too with you, and he's not intimidated by your ability to psychoanalyze him. He appreciates this ability as it sometimes helps him understand more about himself too.
- Akutagawa paid close attention to your favorite literature genre and he loves this about you. There's nothing like coming back from a rough mission to find you reading. He won't ask for you to read out loud for him, but you'll catch up on his silent wish because of how he lays down next to you and plays idly with your hair despite feeling exhausted.
